Not typical LG quality

1

I went though a lot to get this frige. It was on backorder when I purchased it from a big box retailer's website. Deliver kept getting pushed back and it took over 8 weeks and lots of angry phone calls from the time of order to finally receive the fridge. Once received it worked well for about a year. Functionally I love the french door style with the freezer drawer but the quality of this appliance is significantly less than satisfactory. Then we started having issues with the ice maker. It was leaking water and would freeze the door shut even though it felt extremely hot to the touch. The repair was covered under warranty but a service fee was required. A few months later the freezer drawer door began to not seal completely. Again a repair covered under warranty but a service fee was required. A few months ago of course just outside of the 7 year warranty, the ice maker stopped working (water in the door works). This time we are receiving the error code "ER IF" on the door. Not really having the time to deal with it we have put off repair however NOW the freezer has stopped working. It defrosted over night and everything inside had to be thrown away or cooked. I had just stocked it with meat and lost quite a bit of soups, chili and vegetables that I had cooked and frozen for quick meals. I am at the point where I know it will be less expensive for me to repair this piece of junk rather than purchase a new one however I just don't want to deal with it and am willing to spend the extra money to just get a completely new refrigerator (from another manufacturer). I never thought I would be replacing this product in just 7 years after purchase and held the LG brand in high regard until this experience.

Good LG Quality

4

We purchased the LG French door refrigerator with ice maker because of the overall quality that LG produces. The entire kitchen was done with LG products and all have been very nice. The perks are that it's very roomy, pretty simple on the ice machine functions, and looks nice in the kitchen. One feature of this model is that it will beep at you if the door is accidentallly left open. It, however, also beeps at you if you are just standing there too long. I don't know about you but times I stand there grabbing a number of items and have had to deal with the beep beep more than I wish to stand. I get that this is a safety to safe electricity etc. But I wish it could tell if you were actually standing there and stop beeping! :) The downsides are that the bottom freezer portion can sometimes not be enough room, or items may get caught. This as a result causes the door to not close all the way....this by the way is hard to tell and there is no beeping function for the freezer. Have had a few pints of ice cream melt this way. :(

I've had this model for four and a half years. The ice maker has always been a problem. It is slow; so one or two people are heavy users of ice may keep the bin pretty empty. Also, the ice bucket can become a bit dislodged, and when it does, no ice is made which can be a bit of a surprise. The worst thing, though, is that the compressor died recently. After a repairman told me the problem, LG gave me a 20 minute interview so they were satisfied that the compressor was not working. Then, LG called back the next day to give my wife the same interview. A repairman representing LG came out a week later without a compressor because he wanted to make sure that the machine really needed one. Right now, the only use I have for this appliance is as a garden ornament.

Product Safety concern. Ours almost caught on fire.

Had to replace the ice maker twice. They serviced the control modulel and replaced it. They said it was to improve the efficiency of the unit. Now after only 5 years of easy service, the control module, compressor relay and compressor fried in what could have easily been a fire. It got so hot it melted the relay and a connecting pin on the compressor! Not a brand I will ever buy again.... Sorry I bought this to begin with....

LG Model LFX25950TT refrigerator.  Slow making ice.  Limited height for glasses in water/ice dispenser.  You have to slant the glass and push on the switch with the back of the hand.  Ice dispenser binds when bin is full.  Having trouble with interior lights after 2 years and the worst problem is to get service and parts.  LG does not allow local independent appliance dealers to sell their parts!!! Their website LGservice.com is worthless and I did not have success with online chat. The name has changed to LG but they are still GOLDSTAR.

This LG Refridgerator Is Good, but ONE BIG FLAW!!!

4

Have had this fridge for almost 4 years now, and it is mostly a good product. The temperature control works very well. The shelves easily move to different positions. It cleans easily. The freezer sliding door is very big and I love having the freezer on the bottom (why bend over to get in the fridge 10 times a day, when you maybe go in the freezer once!). The filter works very well, and while they are expensive to replace every six months, they work. But there is one major flaw that you just would not know about until you get it home. It has a water/ice dispenser like many other higher end fridges. Most work by putting the glass in and pushing slightly against a lever of some sort. You cannot actually see the lever on this fridge, as it is hidden behind a piece of silicone. It looks really nice that way, but because of how far it is recessed, it is almost impossible to push a glass up to it to make it work. Rather, you have to hold the glass and sort of position your knuckle in the back and push the button with your knuckle. Once you get the hang of it, it is fine, but still annoying - and since the fridges are never hooked up on the display floor, you would never know this until you get it home. Also, because of how recessed it is, you can only really use a glass that is small enough to fit in the space - and that isnt very large. Ultimately, we love the fridge, but the design of the water/ice dispenser leaves a lot to be desired.

This is a great looking appliance and works well.

I've had this refrigerator about 4 or 5 years now.  It looks great, I've had no mechanical problems, it cools, you can set the temperature easily on the door.  I like the size of the lower drawer freezer section.  The ice  maker can be a pain as it sometimes is difficult to remove the ice cubes without spilling them into the other areas of the freezer, but overall I'm happy with it and it works well.  I don't think I would get this again because of the energy concerns.  If you open the refrigerator you are opening a very wide space (both doors) and my kids open and stare into it for awhile so all of the air has to be recooled as they've just let all the cold air out.  The feature where there is a reminder if the doors don't close is great, but doesn't seem to work as well as it used to as I've seen the door slightly ajar and not beeping.  i thought the refrigerator section would be more roomy but haven't found that to be the case.  It still holds as much as any other standard refrigerator even though it gives the illusion of being bigger.  I replaced my working side by side with this one as I couldn't stand the small refrigerator section in it, and it was a large 25 cu ft side by side - this definitely holds more than that.  Overall, I think this is a good appliance, just not great.  If they worked on the interior layout a little more and improved the open door beep it could be great.  It definitely looks impressive and I do get compliments on it.

very dissapointed

I was so excited when we purchased our new refridgerator. I love the look but there is not as much space as you think there is. I had much more room in my side by side. To begin with, the Ice maker is in the left door so that elimates all of your inside shelf space in the door except for 1 very small shelf at the very bottom of the door. The doors have to get a good push to close, you can't just swing them shut like other refridgerators. The Ice maker is so cramped that the arm gets buried under cubes so it does not shut off when full. The motor starts making horrible noises like it is going to burn up. When you open the icemaker door inside the fridge to check it out ice cubes go flying all over the kitchen. My cats love that part of it, they start batting them around like hockey pucks. Then the freezer drawer. If you don't keep much in there it is fine, but the more you put in there the more difficult is is to find anything, because everything gets piled on top of everything else. I hope this helps.

This LG Fridge is the best, so roomy and sleek looking!

I love the LG French 3-Door Refrigerator. It is so roomy and it is beautiful! We just bought a new home, and I researched for months trying to find a fridge that had everything that I wanted. This fridge is it! It has easy tempature controls, and it has many shelves and drawers. It also has a water and ice dispenser which I love and use frequently. It is also energy star rated which saves money, which is always a good thing! It is also very quiet. The only thing I hve to say bad is sometimes when the ice falls in the ice maker it is pretty loud, but that is really unavoidable with an ice maker. I have a black one which is beautiful. It clans up really easily and hardly ever gets finger prints on it. And if there are finger prints they wipe up easily. IThe freezer is amazing as well. We had some ice cream in there for about 2 months, and even though it had been used before, the remaining ice cream wasn't even freezer burt at all! I have never seen that before! I haven't had any problems with this fridge, I love it!

Not worth the money

2

When we bought this refrigerator, I thought I'd love it, but I actually hate it!  Having the drawer on the bottom seemed like a great idea, and having the ice maker in the drawer also seemed like a good one, but what I find happening is that, whenever I need to get ice cubes out, I end up with ice cubes on the floor, falling down the back of the drawer, and everywhere except where I need it to be.  Also, the drawer tends to fill up, and you have NO clue as to what's at the bottom of it.  I'm not organized enough to make a list of what the drawer's contents are, so I tend to lose food to freezer burn.  The inside of the fridge itself is extremely roomy, but the shelf supports are huge... and make it hard to put anything "oversized on the shelves, especially since the top shelf is pretty crammed in my fridge with jars of all kinds of sauces, jams, etc.  I'm so disappointed in this fridge that I will NOT be taking it with me when I finally sell the house... it's going to be a free gift to the next owners.  What a disappointment!
