I hate this grinder

2

I wanted to replace a broken coffee grinder and purchased this based on great online reviews. Well, I hate it. First, it's messy. The beans go into the grinding cylinder with a clear plastic cup on top to close it. Then when ground, the plastic cup opens up & off, but grounds fall out all over the place. There is no neat way to get the grounds out. The grinding process itself is like a mini-food processor; a blade whirles around and pulverized the bean and you end up with an inconsistent grind. Not useful for my keurig nor my french press. I used it twice and now it's taking up space in my cabinet and I am grinding my beans at Whole Foods to get a good consistent size. I'm only keeping it because we may use it occasionally for whole spices, when the size isn't important. My last complaint is that it is really, really loud. It is a very unpleasant high-pitched noise. If you want an inexpensive, basic grinder and aren't picky about the consistency of the grind, this will work. Otherwise, as I've discovered, you get what you pay for so look at higher end products.

Decent for the price, but grinds unevenly

4

Overall this is a good deal for the money. Its capacity is larger than other coffee grinders I've used, and I haven't had any mechanical issues with it in the two years since I bought it. My one complaint is that it grinds a bit more unevenly than other coffee grinders I have experience with. It produces a mix of fine and some slightly coarse grains, which sort of lump together in my coffee filter after I've made coffee. Not a big complaint--I don't think it really affects flavor--but still, it is less than perfect. Aesthetically, it is pleasant and sleek looking and goes well on the counter next to the coffee machine. It's certainly a handy device and does the job well for spices and seeds as well as coffee. At this price point, I would probably buy it again since it beats the competition for basic coffee grinders. Also great if you need to grind a lot at once, since the capacity is generous.

Krups Fast-Touch Coffee Grinder

The Krups Fast-Touch Coffee Grinder does a fantastic job at grinding coffee, spices or even sugar. It is a pulse control grinder so that means that you can't set the grind course that you'd like. You have to practice a bit at first to get the the coffee beans ground to the way you want them, but once you figure it out you don't think twice about it. It becomes second nature to push down the lid to pulse the coffee/spices or sugar to just the right grind. The sharp metal blades are placed low in the housing of the grinder so they are very efficient. They'll grind through beans and the toughest spices in no time without any hesitation. You can opt for a very course ground coffee all the way down to the finest of powders for those Turkish coffees. Or, you can put a cinnamon stick in the grinder and have freshly ground cinnamon powder. The price is right. The Krups is small so it tucks away in a corner of the cabinet or the counter. It's a workhorse of a machine. The one drawback that kept it from being rated a 10 by me was that it can be a bit difficult to clean. When grinding spices, the spice dust gets everywhere and almost requires a small brush to sweep out of the blades. That aside, it's definitely worth the money and beats the more expensive grinders.

Great Grinder!

5

I got this grinder so I could grind my own coffee beans. I love how I can adjust the grind to suit my needs, and it it looks really nice on my countertop. Before I purchased it, I researched many different brands and models, and decided to go with this one because of the other great reviews that it got. The only concern I have is that I might wear it out. There are several warnings about not running it for longer than 10 seconds at a time. Update: I just wanted to come back and add a little to this review. I have been using my grinder for about a month now, and it is still doing great. I love being able to grind my own beans, and I love how I can change the "fineness" to suit my fancy. My wife is not so into the noise that it makes, but that is a risk I'm willing to take. I am considering purchasing a second one that I can use for herbs. I am very happy with this little device and would b purchase it again in a heartbeat,

Great Coffer grinder

Just great, about all you can ask from a coffee maker. Its portable, it grinds very well, its sleek, and its durable and at an affordable price. What more can you ask from a coffee grinder. And it also grinds the coffee super quickly, you will be surprised. At first, i was very conservative and didnt want to buy a new coffee grinder because mine worked just fine but it was getting old. I thought that mine was fine, until I bought this one. Once I bought this one, I realized how my old one should have worked. My old one now looks likes like a piece of crap because this one is good. Overall, I love it, its light, fast, sweet looking, sleek, black, and overall just incredible. I would highly recommend this product to anyone who wants to be happy for the rest of their lives. This machine was a life changer. BUY THIS NOW!! It is worth it, it will grind your coffee like butter and bread. is this 700 characters!?!

My Daily Grind

I received this Krups Whole Bean coffee grinder as a gift from my husband this year at Christmas. I must say I am quite impressed by the grinder. I can put the whole beans in the grinder, replace the lid, press the button and in 30 seconds, have perfectly ground coffee. The contructions of the grinder is great. It is very sturdy and seems built tough to last. The cord is a tad short for the average person, but works great for me. I like the idea of being able to see down inside of the lid, without removing it. The only draw back that I see to the grinder, is if you aren't careful you can grind your coffee in to powder in an instant and not even realize that you have done it. All together, this is an outstanding coffee grinder for the price.

Great grinder for those who don't use it very often

I was given a gift of unground coffee beans. I did not have a clue what to do with this, as I've never ground my own beans. So I decided to purchase this Krups grinder because frankly it was cheap, and I didn't see myself suddenly becoming enamored of the coffee grinding process. Maybe I'm low-class, but coffee is pretty much coffee to me. I don't notice a big difference in flavor. I think this grinder did a great job for the beans I had (but I haven't used it since, because I don't have any more beans!) It's inexpensive and a great way to see if you like the whole coffee-grinding experience without breaking the bank or taking up tons of space. I think I might go for a more expensive one if I planned to do more grinding of beans on a regular basis, as this doesn't hold that many. I've also used it to grind flax seeds into flax meal. Probably you don't want to do that if you want to use it for just coffee - it might start tasting like flaxseed.

Freshly ground spices

5

We're not much for coffee. We are tea drinkers in our house, but we absolutely love cooking with freshly ground spices and this little appliance helps us get the job done. If you don't currently grind your own spices, I urge you to begin. Foods are much more aromatic ad flavorful and often enough I can find whole spices not irriadated and in bulk preseving the precious minerals they contain. This device has been great in grinding cumin, black pepper, cinnamon and I even use it to make garam masala. It small affordable, and super quick. It can get a little loud for harder/larger seeds, but it's not so bad. It's easy enough to clean too.

A Great Product at a Great Price!

I absolutely love this little grinder. I use it for coffee beans as well as loose leaf tea, so that I can use the grounds in my Keurig machine. It works efficiently, it is very quick to set up, fill, press one button and it grinds quickly. I haven't had a problem with the amount of grinds being too much for it to handle, but I also am always aware and try not to "overload" it. I also love that it is super easy/quick to clean up, I rinse it with hot water after each use and about every three-four uses give it a hot water/soap wash. I do make sure to wash with soap when switching between coffee grinds/tea as it does tend to linger, but I think that would happen with any grinder. For my purposes, using it to quickly grind up various loose leaf or beans depending on what I want for breakfast, it works perfectly!

This is a very decent coffee grinder for those who do not drink a lot of coffee. This is a small grinder and only grinds about 1 pound at a time so if you really love a lot of coffee everyday this wont do it for you but its overall a great product for small amounts.
