I really enjoy this camera.  It records video and takes great pictures.  It also has a zoom of 12x  which is really nice, especially when you're out in nature.  It really pulls the object you are looking at up close and takes a great picture. The only thing that I don't like about the camera is the weight of it.

I've had my P850 for several years now and I have to say it has been well worh it.  It is easy enough to use in almost a point and click fassiion which comes in handy when you want someone else to take a picture.  That way people can believe it is you who took all those other good pictures. LOL  It has been to the beach and the mountains, in cold and hot weather and took a lot of pictures per charge.  I'm sure there are newer models now that have more megabytes, pixels, and features, but with the bright lens and super zoom, this one will do me for a while yet.  Do your research, try them out, but don't overlook Kodak and don't automaticly grab the smallest on off the shelf.  These nice big zoom lenses are still great for high quality pics, and now they even do movies!

Even without reading the maual this camera is easy to use. But if you read the manual, you're able to find the functions beyond what's obvious on the outside,such as: the best image type &  size, as well as the amount of room for storage.  Also, troubleshooting problems, and viewing images... On the back, you can select the option of Auto-Focus, or Auto-Exposure. Also, the ability to view the pictures taken, and the menu option allows you change where the photos are stored (i.e. memory card or internal); whether you want your pictures date stamped; also if you want sounds & how loud the sounds are, among other things. The LCD display shows the different modes, and which one is best for the types of pictures you'll be taking - indoor or out, people, sports, different lighting issues (nighttime & sunsets). You can also create custom settings of both aperture and shutter.

I have had this camera for about 5 years. I love how it still works like new. I takes great picture from far away and take great pictures of movement with out the blur. It pick sound up very well when using the video  mode.

I love my digital camera.  When we go on vacation, I can take all the pictures I want to, put them on a disc, and develop what I want.  I can share them with friends, and load them on my my-space ( well I don't, my daughter does it for me).  When I was young, I remember having to be very careful with what I wanted to take pictures of because you only had so many pictures I can take (Wow, am I dating my self?)  And then, when we developed the pictures, there was red-eye, and people with eyes shut or looked loaded.  Now, we can review the picture right on the screen and the pictures are forever. Before my father-in-law passed away, we had a family reunion.  It was very special.  The family is super large, with lots of brothers, sisters, brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, niece', nephews, grand children, and great-grandchildren.  I was able to take many, many pictures, put them on a disc, and give each family branch several copies.  It was a day we all treasured.
