Great product for avoiding messes

4

I received this product as a gift and I find it really helpful though it took me a while to get into the habit of remembering to use it. It's great for cutting down on messes of both dry and wet ingredients and for adding ingredients while still mixing. It's also great if you accidentally turn it up on high after putting in a cup of flour or liquid! I gave this product a 7 though, because I feel that it would be better if it fit more snugly. It tends to move around the bowl more than I'd like or kind of slips out of place, I think this allows it to leak more than it would if it fit a bit tighter. I don't feel it's a product that's necessary to use all the time, but when it's great when making a large batch of bread dough or when mixing up butter cream frosting! It stores easily in it's position of sitting on top of the bowl. I'm not sure what the package says, but I've washed mine both in the sink and in the dishwasher and it's easy clean up either way. All in all a great product!

Keeps flour from flying every where and keeps fingers safe.

This sheild keeps flour from flying every where and making a mess on your counter. It also helps you to slowing add your ingredients. With this shield you will be able to add ingredients while leaving your mixer on. You can all your ingredients into the mixing bowl and then place the shield on, or place the shield onto the bowl and slowly add ingredients. This simple item will make clean up a breeze

This really helps for adding ingredients without a mess

This item is a very good idea when adding ingredients to your recipe. It prevents splatter and gets the ingredient into the rest of the mix. It will keep you from having to put your spoon into the bowl which helps with preventing any accidents. I use mine when mixing cakes, cookies and anything with multiple ingredients. I wouldn't recommend letting children assist with cooking without this attachment. Its a wonderful item. without this item when you add your flour or any ingredient that has the chance to splatter or fluff into the air or around the room it is most likely to do just that. so if you don't like having to wipe everything down after mixing up your recipes then this item is perfect for you.

Not quite all that I had hoped, but still good

I had hoped that the KitchenAid Pouring Shield Accessory for my stand mixer would be better at keeping down the clouds of flour that happen when you add flour to your recipe and once you start blending, but it doesn't cover enough of the bowl to prevent that from happening. It does help to have the chute to add the ingredients, as it is kind of awkward to add to the bowl as it is when it is in position to do your mixing and a pain to have to keep raising it up and lowering it again after adding your next ingredient. So overall, I am pleased with this item, though it would be nice if there was a way to design it so that it kept the light ingredients like the flour in the bowl, and kept the liquid ingredients from spattering out when mixing on the higher speeds. Like I said though, the chute is convenient for adding the ingredients without having to raise and lower the mixer each time.

Nice idea but not very functional

I wish I could say I love this attachment but it falls just short of what I would like it to do. Half of the time I find it in the way rather than being helpful - sometimes when using it I find that it falls off. Also, I am not sure if others have this same problem, but when I pour something into it, such as flour or sugar, it doesn't all fall into the bowl. I have a lot of it stuck in the funnel part of the attachment and have to hit it down with a spoon. This is not a huge deal, but isn't that the point of the whole thing? I do find this attachment helpful though when mixing something wet or liquid (like when making butter with the whisk). It prevents the liquid from sloshing around and getting outside of the bowl. Another downside is that you cannot keep the attachment on and put the cover over it (if you own one). Again, not a huge deal, but then you have to store it somewhere else. Overall, a good idea, but not as good functioning as I would like it to be. I probably would not buy again.

It's OK. I use it but I don't love it.

Well, my mother-in-law bought us this attachment for our Kitchen-Aid stand mixer and it's just OK. It's a two-piece attachment that helps pouring wet or dry ingredients into the mixer (especially when it's in motion). The little tabs that hold the two pieces together broke after about the second time using it but it really hasn't affected the shield too much. I kind of forget I have it. It's just one more thing to take out and most times I just leave it in the pantry. It's a bummer that the little tab attachment pieces broke so easily. I probably could have returned or exchanged it but I guess I'm just too lazy to do that :). Anyway, it is handy, especially when I have a large amount of flour to add to a recipe. It prevents the dry stuff from getting too messy and all over my kitchen countertops. I don't think I'd buy it for myself but it makes a decent gift as an accessory. I don't know if most people would use it.

Could do without

This product is satisfactory at best. I've used it a few times but to me it makes more of a mess than if you just stop the mixer and add your ingredients. This product hasn't really helped me because it's one more thing to wash and when you add dry ingredients like flour while the mixer is going, not all of it pours into the shield. I end up with ingredients on my counter, stove, etc. You could save your money on this product and save yourself one less thing to wash at the end of your clean up. I find the best way to add ingredients (especially dry) is to get a flexable cutting board and angle it into the bowl. Make sure the mixer is at a slow speed or you will have a mess. I wish I could give this product a better overall rating, but with there being so many other cool kitchen gadgets out there, I would have to advice saving your money.

Review of Kitchen Aid Pouring Shield Accessory

5

Using the KitchenAid mixer can be very messy and the KitchenAid Pouring Shield Accessory can make things so much easier to clean up in the long run. I purchased one of these shields a few years back after getting my KitchenAid mixer. As most folks know, flour and other powdery ingredients can be very intrusive if they are exposed to high speeds. This shield takes all the mess out of using your mixer. You are able to very easily attach the shield to the KitchenAid mixer after you have put in your dry ingredients. You can then add your wet ingredients to the side (or however your particular recipe recommends) and then voila! You are able to turn it up to a relatively high speed without flour and other ingredients flying everywhere. This is one of my favorite accessories for the mixer, and I highly recommend it when purchasing the machine for yourself or a friend.

Awesome for bakers!

I use this pouring shield so much with my kitchen aid mixer. I love to bake often, so pouring in some of the messier ingredients can be a hassle and I just make the worst mess. This plastic attachment looks like it may be flimsy and not helpful, but it really helps when I'm pouring in my dry ingredients and don't want them all over my kitchen. It took me a few times to set it up on my mixing bowl correctly, but it was really just user error on my part since I was still learning how to use my mixer in the first place. I love how easy it is to clean as well, I just do a quick hand wash and it's ready for my next baking adventure. It's also an affordable piece for my mixture and I don't have to worry about the quality of it or be concerned that it will break. Overall, I think this is a piece that would be a great addition to anyone who owns a kitchen aid mixer. It helps pouring ingredients in easier and allows baking to be even more fun.

A Handy Tool

4

I'm glad this item came with my Kitchenaid Artisan, and I have already found it to be useful when mixing. I have done the same recipe with and without, and I definitely thought this tool helped. I wouldn't pay tons of money for it because you can get the job done without it, but I'm sure glad I have it. (I can also go without a stand mixer, but that was a pain to stir everything.) This accessory is a nice thing to have.
