I started using this detergent about a year ago after my client used it for her mother. It leaves a nice smell even without fabric softner.

I originally tried the Kirklands Liquid Softener along with my old laundry detergent because my laundry needed to smell better. It always had an odor to it after every load. Well, it worked wonders! I was sold. So then I figured, why not use the Kirklands Ultra Liquid Detergent as well? At first I was very happy with the scent and cleanliness. My husband is highly allergic to most scents and this didn't bother him. Then my smile turned into a frown when I noticed the grayish/blue blotchy stains on my sheets and our clothes. It won't come off no matter how many times I wash them. I might just need to go back to old faithful :(.

Back in the days before I could afford to shop around for natural and gental products (and back before I had children with extremely sensitive skin), I practically survived off of Kirkland Signature Laundry Detergent. It might not be the most natural thing on the market but it is an excellent value. It actually washes the clothes really well too. I used to go on some seriously muddy hikes and filthy camping and fishing trips and there was no amount of dirt, stains and stink that Kirkland Signature Laundry Detergent couldn't cut through. It made a great pre-wash stain treatment too. I just poured the detergent directly onto the stain and rubbed it into the fabric. Then I'd let it sit overnight and wash it as usual with a load of laundry the next morning. Worked every time. Nowadays I still prefer the more natural and gentle products but if I ever found myself in a financial bind I'd definitely give Kirkland Signature Laundry Detergent another try!

Kirkland Laundry Detergent is just ok. It is not as good as I wanted it to be. A friend of mine used this and raved about it. So I tried it on her recommendation. She said it was "just as good as XXX brand". Well, Brand XXX is my favorite detergent, so I thought I would try it. What's good about it. I have found that Kirkland branded products are usually fairly good. And they are usually a pretty good value. But a good value would be a good product at a good price. This is a good price, but not such a great product. What's not so good about it. This detergent has a weird smell. It says it has no fragrance added. But other "no fragrance added" products don't smell like this. It kind of smells like wet hay or wet grass (but not in a good way). Also, I noticed that my normal detergent definitely does a better job cleaning my clothes. An average stain (spilled food or dirty socks) cannot be handled well by this detergent. I used it for a few loads and when I noticed it was not working as well as my regular product AND it smelled weird, I gave it to the friend who recommended it. She was thrilled! Opinions differ. She liked it. I didn't.

I've been using Kirkland Signature Laundry Detergent for a very long time now. I used to use another brand for many years but was skeptical to using this brand as I have lots of allergies (hives to detergent and the detergents scents/perfumes) and it took me a long time to find the one I used. However I kept hearing about Kirkland Signature and I have to admit, price was a factor, and decided to try it. Was I a happy camper afterward. This product really did a wonderful cleaning job on my clothes without added heavy perfumes. And no hives from the cleaning product itself. Double yeah. All joking aside, it really did a terrific job. Performance My clothes were really clean after using this product. You could really tell the difference with my white socks. Very dirty to nicely clean. Scent As I have mentioned above, I have allergies where product scents are concerned. I can do with a slight scent or no scent, but rarely a heavy scent/perfume fragrance. Luckily for me this product's scent falls into the can live with department. Plus it's a very nice scent in it's own right.

Kirkland Laundry Detergent is much like most Kirkland products, its cheap, basic and works. I use this detergent for kids clothes, towels, and work clothes. It doesn't really get out stains or anything, you'd have to use a stain stick or spray, but clothes come out clean. The only part I don't like about this detergent is if you use the measuring cup and put it back on the top, it will drip all over the place. I rinse out the cup, put it back on the lid, and I get a sticky residue all over the side of the bottle and bottom of the shelf. I know a name brand does not have this problem because the lid has a slight indentation that lets excess detergent go back in the bottle. Aside from this problem, it does a decent job doing laundry. Performance This detergent will clean your clothes but don't expect stains or very soiled areas to look amazingly clean. For really dirty things I add Oxi-clean or penetrate the stain with another product beforehand. Scent The scent is fairly light and will wash out. I smell it when putting wet clothes into the dryer, but then the smell is dissipated enough.

I know free and clear products are not supposed to have a scent. That is the point. However, when your free and clear product smells like glue I feel that I would rather deal with the issues a flowery scent causes me to have. This washes your clothes well enough. But I simply can not get over the glue smell it leaves in my nose, on my clothes and in my washer. Yuck! Performance It does what it needs to do. Scent It smells like glue, what more can I say.

Great cleaning power. I don't have a lot of stains on my clothing. I am not sliding across lawns anymore just need to get the sweat out of my gym clothes and this does the trick. I do throw in Oxyclean and the Oxyclean seems to help a lot with keeping my front load washer from getting moldy and the clothes can sit with out stinking. Performance Good from what I can tell. It gets out most of the stink. I don't have to wash things twice. If there is a real tough grease spot, I use Shout. Scent I like that this has no coloring or scent. It is just the cleaning stuff and nothing more. I don't like all the additives to make it smell country or rain fresh. If i wanted that I would go drag my clothes in the dirt or dance in the rain.
