Kirkland Lamb & Rice Dog Food

Real lamb, veggies, and rice at a reasonable price

My dogs like this food better than any of the well known name brands that I have tried for them, and you get a lot more for your money in quantity and quality. Quality of Ingredients No higher because they are not organic and would be better with no grain. Flavor Selection Only chicken and lamb are available.

Great value

I love buying this dog food. It is very inexpensive compared to other dog foods we have tried in the past, so it is a great value for the money. It's also nice that it comes in a large bag so we do not have to go to the store as often to get it as the other food we were using. We had a trainer suggest it to us because we were using pedigree food and she told us it was junk and proved it by showing us the ingredients on the label. Kirkland brand actually has high quality ingredients unlike many other cheaper dog foods that are often times full of corn meal or animal fat by-product because they are cheap fillers. it is nice to know that this has lamb in it instead of just "animal fat" like other foods. The trainer also said It is said to be rated an A+ dog food. The lamb and rice is great because our dogs, and many others have an allergy to chicken and there is no chicken in this food but our dogs like it just as much. Flavor Selection Great that they have something other than chicken.

Kirkland Lamb and Rice is a poor quality food.

This is a poor quality food. It made my dogs sick. The company is not helpful at all. I will never purchase this food again. They will not retest the food and they put the burden of proof on you. I lost a healthy 8 yr old dog in 2 short weeks. If you decide to buy this food, record the batch number from the back of the bag. You have to have this if there are any problems. This company will give you the run around! BEWARE! Quality of Ingredients The ingredients listed on the bag look good. But if the Lamb they use is spoiled than it doesn't matter how good the ingredients appear. I have fed my dogs this food for years and it wasn't untl recently they got sick. Diamond, the manufacture, will not retest the food and will not release the test results on the Lamb. So if you have a bad batch of food, you are out of luck. The company is not helpful.

Cautiously recommended to the budget minded consumer

You can't beat the price for a bag, but I would recommend watching your dog for signs of yeast infections while on this food. I've fed it to many dogs, and the ones with "tough" skin do great, but the ones who are more sensitive are plagued with ear infections caused by yeast growth. In each instance as soon as I switched away from Kirkland the ear infections ceased to appear. I do think that any dog with food sensitivities should avoid this product.

This food my dog loves it. She's healthy means she had good diet . Kirland Signature Lamb and Rice Dog Food is starting to get pricey since in the last few months a bought it that's why I give it 4 stars but nevertheless still good value than other brand of dog food.

Canine professional recommends Kirkland!

Yup, this is what I've been telling people for years ever since I researched after Go Natural killed many dogs several years ago. Diamond makes Kirkland lamb and rice and gets 4 stars. It is some of the best and reasonably priced food. I spoke to Diamond's vet and they use human grade, no by products. Of course Purina, Iams, Hills and Eukanuba are some of the worst. Some dogs that I cared for were fed Purina and had skin conditions and loose stools. When the owners finally switched everything cleared up. You feed less cause it's quality. MY DOGS AND I LOVE KIRKLAND! Also none of the dogs fed Kirkland for their entire lives, 14 years +, never developed any tumors...NONE!

Abby loves this food!

We have a lab, pointer mix and we wanted to find a better quality but reasonably priced food.  I can't believe how many choices there are for dog food and they certainly range from being dirt cheap to incredibly expensive in price!  We would like to be able to pay for premium food but unfortunately, it's just not possible on our budget.  We decided that it would be a good idea to at least try the Kirkland brand food to see if Abby would like it.  We were lucky that she took to in with no problems at all.  She likes the food and we haven't had any problems since we started feeding it to her.  I also really like how pretty, shiny and soft her coat is since we started feeding her this food.  I do feel like we need to compromise on her food but definitely think we've found a higher quality food for a reasonable price.  If you are in the market for a reasonably priced dog food I would suggest you try this one.

Great Food!

I will have to say, being a researcher in the past on what foods have in them and cost effectiveness, this is the best food of its kind.  It is the cheapest food with the most wholesome ingredients.  Just looking at the ingredient list you will see that the first ingredients are meat and protein.  Also the price is unbeatable.  I have all large breed dogs, formerly a Great Dane/Lab and currently a Dane pup.   We used this food for the mix.  Because of the Dane's rapid growth we will wait until he is about 2-3 to start him on this food as he has a special diet now, but love love love this brand.  I am not sure why more people are aware of how good this food is for your dog.  The chicken flavor is also good (but the kibble sizes are different in each flavor).  I would recommend this to any dogs that you want to get affordable food that is wholesome and good quality without spending so much money as you would with an equivalent, i.e. Solid Gold.

Not so much a bang for my buck.

I purchased this food last year after rescuing my dalmatian Houston.  The lady in charge of the rescue recommended this food to me and had nothing but great things to say about the food, but I can't say I had that great of an experience with it.  After bringing him home from the rescue, he still had a hematoma & infection in his ears which never would go away.  The lady in charge of the rescue assured me that he got some sort of bacteria in his ears, but with the medication it would go away in a week.  Well, after months and months of it not going away, he ended up developing another hematoma in his other ear.  I took him to the vet and was told that he had food allergies.  I really had no idea that dogs could be so sensitive to their food that it could cause a yeast infection in their ears.  I decided to take the vets advice and start my dog on a perscription diet and sure enough his ear problem cleared up.

Kirkland Lamb and Rice Dog Food makes my sick

1

I have tried Kirkland Lamb and rice dog food on two separate occasions and both times my dog became sick.He had loose stools and loss of appetite.I stopped the food and went back to his previous food and all problems resolved themselves.I then waited a bit thinking perhaps it was just a fluke and tried the food again with the same results. I don't know if it was just my dogs reaction or sensitivity to the product, but I will not purchase this again.
