A good basic machinee

4

The Kenmore Mechanical Sewing Machine 15358 machine is a good, basic machine for all levels of operators. Great for beginners, and dependable for everyone. The pre-sets make it easy to get going and select the right stitch for the right job. The machine has never needed maintenance, the tension remains consistent, and the quality of the stitch is excellent. Perfect for all.

The Kenmore sewing machine is a great everyday sewing machine

4

The Kenmore sewing machine was given to me as a gift.  I have used this sewing machine for about a year.  It is a very good started sewing machine and useful for everyday repairs because it is easy to get out and use.  The Kenmore name stands as a reputable product and when I did have an issue with the machine getting "jammed", I took it to a repair center and they fixed it on the spot.  For the price, this product offers very stitches but enough to use for regular everyday issues.  I especially like the storage in the removable tray.  I don't have to look through drawers for different feet, buttonholers, etc.  The tray keeps everything right where I need it.  The ability to remove the tray for smaller repairs such as sleeves or hems is very convenient.  The Kenmore sewing machine is very easy to thread with numbered instructions to make it even easier.  It has a task light with an on/off switch although I can't imagine why someone would want it off. I would recommend this product for anyone who does light sewing.

Good machine for basic needs

4

I found this sewing machine to be great for the average customer, and by that I mean someone who doesn't use the machine everyday for high volume products. Kenmore is a quality manufacturer, and it shows in the sewing machine. The one problem I had was that when I did start using it more often, the motor died on me. Otherwise, I found it easy to use and, more importantly, easy to change the thread, bobbin, etc., unlike other sewing machines I've known.

It's o.k. for a starter or for a child or adult just learning

I think it is o.k. for a beginner like my children but has a habit of the thread knotting up and you can't go too fast. I personally would not have chosen this for myself. It is not like the older singer sewing machines. It knots up alot but if you go really slow and if the project is not too detailed, then it might be ok. You also have to be very careful about the types of materials you use because the needles have a tendency to break. Lots of mess and has limited capabilities. Also, you have to restring the thread alot because it tends to unstring itself if you go too fast.

most reliable sewing machine i ever bought

this is the second machine that i bought And I use it for pretty much any of my sewing needs. I mostly make home items. so I don't use the decorative stitches to much but they do work very nicely. the Only thing I have not used this machine for is to monogram anything. Though it says that you can.I just don't think that I could stay staight enough to do any letters.

ok nothing special

This sewing machine is simple to operate. It is nothing I would purchase again. I would however recommend it to novice users. I am going to give it to a relative and purchase another brand with more features. I am a little more experience in sewing and would enjoy having more features to experiment with. I am pricing other top quality machines at the current time.

Whenever I need to use a machine, this is the one I go to.

This machine was a gift to me and I use it quite a lot. I mend, sew garments and do some crafting and quilting. I love that mine is portable and I can store it easily. It sews nicely and I don't have problems with it skipping or tangling thread. It is easy to fill the bobbins and rethreading is easy but the eyes on the needles could be a little larger--I'm getting older!

The bobbin hangs up too much.

The bobbin gets stuck way too often and has to be taken off and completly redone.  I have tried using my own, my mothers, and my grandmothers and we have all had the same problem.  The bobbin still gets stuck.  We have tried using different brands of thread, different thicknesses of fabric, etc.  Nothing helped.

Didn't work well

While the name Kenmore implies a good product, I did not find this one to live up to it's name.  The motor quit within two years.  While it could be replaced, it would have cost more to have this done than to just go out and purchase a new machine.  I often had difficulty with the thread bunching up when doing other stitch patterns aside from just a straight stitch.

I taught myself to sew with this machine

5

I wanted to learn to sew, but was intimated by many fancy sewing machines. This model was perfect for a first time seamstress. The price wasn't bad in case I wasn't successful. It was very easy to figure out how to operate and came with a useful manual. This machine was very easy to thread, and loading a bobbin was fast and easy (I actually load my bobbins for my embroidery machine on this sewing machine as well because it is much faster.) There are plenty of stitch settings on this machine. I liked that universal accessories fit this machine, it was much less expensive to buy a universal ruffler, and it easily attached and worked with this Kenmore model. I have used this machine for a couple years very heavily without needing it serviced. It is still my primary machine, but once I learned on this I also purchased a serger and embroidery machine that I use side by side with my Kenmore sewing machine.
