I cook a lot, and will always prefer a gas stove to an electric stove. It allows for greater temperature control, which is very important to me. I love that when I turn the temperature down on the stove, it immediately goes down, unlike an electric stove where it takes time for the temperature to change. The oven part is a little more temperamental. The oven I have tends to run hot, so I have to adjust to fit the recipe I'm making. It also has a few hot spots, so I can't just put it in the oven and leave it until the timer goes off, I have to turn the pans around partway through cooking so there won't be any burnt spots. Because this is a gas oven, whenever you turn on the oven it does emit a gassy smell. I am not crazy about this. It also gives a strong gas scent when you turn on the stove, as if it's putting a lot of gas out to get the spark. No other gas stoves or ovens I've used have done this before.

I really like our Kenmore Freestanding gas range. It's great that it has the super burners for when you need to boil water or make stir fry's and need the extra wide flame and heat. It also has the simmer burner, which is wonderful for making stock and you just need things to simmer for a few hours. I've had many times, with other burners on different stoves, that would burn the bottom of my stock pot because I couldn't get the temperature down low enough. It's all digital and very easy to use! My only complaint would be the ease of cleaning. Of course it's stainless steel so any little finger smudge shows up. It also seems to have lots of crevices and areas for things to get stuck in and make it hard to remove. It's not terrible to clean but I really prefer the flat top surface so that things can just be wiped away. Other then the cleaning though this is a fantastic stove and I'm very pleased with it!!

Overall, this is a great standard gas range. I have a small kitchen so the 30" design was perfect for me. Even heat distribution and "in-between" temperature control make cooking a pleasure. Baking or broiling are easy to see with extra large window and the well-lit self-cleaning oven. Lots of room to make an entire meal at once. I would definitely recommend this Kenmore Range. Temperature Control Perfect... I like the in between settings besides high, medium and low. It gives me much more control of the temperature and is very easy to use. Heat Distribution Perfect... It heats evenly across the pan surface, reducing cooking time. Durability I've had this range for a year and it looks like new Design I love the 30" size...fits great in a small kitchen. I really like the location of the oven light switch on the top corner and the large window for seeing what's baking or broiling without opening the door Ease of Cleaning Spills are easy to wipe off of the top and the burner areas. The self-cleaning oven leaves a small amount of burnt spillover on the bottom.

We recently purchased a Kenmore Freestanding Gas Range/Oven, Model #72403. We purchased the stainless steel version and it matches our existing Kenmore appliances beautifully. This range/oven has several features which make is a drastic improvement over our older model. First, as a mother of a two year old, I was pleased to find that it has an oven lockout feature, which locks the oven door and prevents my toddler from opening it. Second, this model offers two traditional gas burners and two specialized burners. There is a simmer burner, which is for cooking things like sauces on low heat, as well as a power burner which uses higher heat to bowl water, etc. faster. Third, this model includes closed burners, which improves safety and cleanliness of the unit. The oven has a very large window that allows you to see what you're cooking with ease and offers self-cleaning to save you time and energy.
