Quality workhorse freezer

This freezer gets to temp quickly even when empty and installed on a hot day. Temperature Control The freezer got down to temp super quick. The temperature adjust is also easy to use and the display right ont he front is very convenient. Capacity This freezer has lots of room. The door is highly adjustable so that makes organizing small items a breeze. I usually loose small items pretty quickly but not with this door. The only not wonderful thing is that a few of the shelves feel like they could be overloaded (weight wise) pretty easily if you don't pay attention. These are the higher shelves so I wouldn't put too much heavy stuff up there but if the shelf were to give it would not be pleasant. Ease of Cleaning If I were taller I would probably find this freezer even easier to clean. Between the shelves and the height the top four inches and very top are a bit taxing. Durability My 13 month old daughter spent several minutes banging against the door with a metal toy spatula and not a scratch. This freezer seems like it will probably last quite well mechanically as well. Design The worst thing about this freezer is that the door cannon be configured for a left hand open. For me this is quite inconvenient but may not be a big deal to others. I love the "bookend" organizers for some of the shelves. I was skeptical about them at first but now I love them.

High-capacity freezer, perfect for overflow food storage

5

I would definitely recommend this freezer for anyone that wants an effecient upright. Temperature Control Not too sensitive - the temperature setting always seemed to be accurate. I have not had any food freezer burn since I purchased this freezer. Capacity This freezer can hold all your overflow food items with room to spare. You can adjust the shelves to create more space and make it work best for your needs. Ease of Cleaning The racks and drawers can easily be removed for thorough cleanings. It also defrosts extremely quickly, which is handy. I can wipe down the outside door and sides with a basic cleaning product and a wet rag. Durability I haven't had this freezer for a very long time, but it seems to be really high-quality, so I'm assuming durable. I've had other products made by Kenmore and I've never been disappointed. Design The upright/shelf design is much more convenient than a chest freezer. You can easily organize and find all the different food items that you want to store.

Kenmore- Frosty no more!

It is so nice to not have to defrost anymore. The freezer uses every bit of space. There are shelves on the door. It has 3 shelves inside plus a pull-out bin on the bottom. Its easy to clean and stores a hugh amount of food. Its energy efficent too.

A freezer that's worth the extra space in a bulk buying family.

I wanted this freezer for years.  It was in our price range, holds over 700 pounds of food, has an energy efficient rating, and it came in black to match my other appliances.  Boy am I happy I finally got it after Christmas!  I can bulk buy with ease.  The extra space it provides allows me to be freezer organized for when I'm meal prepping or preparing to store lots of food I made (for quick meals, especially breakfast).  If you welcome a break in the kitchen, I recommend a purchase like this because you can spend a day cooking and freeze it and work on those meals for a few days (or have food for the family in your absence) instead of cooking every day.  It's also well lit.  I love the drawers for easy access (including the pizza shelf).  It does seem to have a louder humm from time to time people originally complained about, but it's not louder than my dishwasher (which is quieter than most) and it's not all the time either.  I also like that you can see the temperature on the outside.  All in all, I'm super pleased to have the extra storage right in my kitchen without bending over all the time to access what I need.

I purchased this freezer with my husband just under a year ago.  We had moved into an apartment with a tiny freezer and I'm a stockpile budget hunter when it comes to shopping so that just wasn't going to work. This freezer lives up to the Kenmore name. It is very sleek on the outside with a digital readout, so I always know that my investment (food) is protected. If the power were out for more than 24 hours while we were out of town there is an alwarm that would notify us. Also, there is an alarm for the door being ajar. This has never been a problem though as the unit tends to close itself on its own. In addition to these features, there is also a locking mechanism on the freezer in case you have small children in the house or don't want anyone getting into your stuff. I don't have a need to use this, but it is good to know it is there for when small nieces and nephews visit. My absolute favorite feature of this freezer is the "quick freeze" option. My family often buys several hundred pounds of shrimp at a time to freeze and this feature allows you to continuously cool the unit over a 24 hour period.

Does the job OK.

Bought this after our old freezer died.  We were looking for size, energy efficiency and quiet operation.  Turns out we got the size we wanted, questionable efficiency and it turned out louder than I would have liked.  It is large and for our family of eight it was the right size.  Items do not get lost and forgotten inside like some other freezers. Initially set to +10F figuring that should be cold enough to freeze items ... right?  Wrong, we found most were almost thawed on the outside.  Set it to -10F after that.  Questionable efficiency due to it's running continuously when set to -10F which kept the items frozen the way we wanted.  Eventually I set it to 0F as a compromise.  Some items were frozen solid while others were not solid but in a "soft-like frozen state."  Manual didn't help in trying to figure out why it was acting in this manner. I was hoping for a model that was more quiet than this.  Some reviews did mention that it was not the quietest, but OK.  I agree with them.  If you value silence, and in a house with six children after bedtime, silence is golden!  I would find another model or put this baby out in the garage.

A beautiful, good functioning freezer for a bargain

This is a very nice, voluminous upright freezer, with a very nice look.  The smooth, slightly curved door is very attractive, with clean lines only interrupted by the tasteful arched handle and the very useful digital temperature gauge (and, despite being in a warm room, that gauge hasn't moved off 0 degrees fahrenheit since it was first loaded).  Yeah, this freezer quickly and quietly brings a giant load of food down to sub-sub-freezing temperatures.  I was a bit concerned about this being a frost-free freezer (my previous freezers were not frost-free); I had heard that the defrost cycles encouraged freezer burn and early spoilage.  I have not found this to be true at all--this freezer can keep meat for a year or more with no significant damage.  The glass shelves and multiple pull-out drawers makes it easy to organize, although it's hard to use some of the space effeciently (I had to pull a few things out when I transfered my food from my nearly-identically-sized previous freezer).  It also has a helpful chime when the doo has been left open to long.  This is a surprisingly refined, well-built product, selling for a similar price to its much more spartan competitors.
