I Had An Ge Which died after 5 years of use , decided to go to a store and buy another microwave which would fit in the kitchen , this red microwave i decided to buy since i use a lot , took it home , took out of the box , plugged it in , it works! luck , then i placed water for 30 seconds, the water was hot , even lucky. That night i wanted to do some hotdogs in it , my ge took 2 minutes for a normal hotdog , this one took a minute to cook the hotdog , then i felt the hot dog was better after the cooking , i have it since 2012 , its still going strong and still better. so if you want a microwave which is red , this kenmore should get you satisfied after then , my house had only kenmore appliances Performance its perfomance cooks , never knew a 1100 watt could do that! Settings/Features they are easy to use than in my old ge microwave , casserole? , baked goods? , im really lucky Ease of Cleaning once i used to heat pizza , had to clean that cheese in the microwave , easy of clean and my maid can clean it easier than my ge Ease of Use on settings/features explains this tab Durability its still strong than ever , very good than expected! Design that is one of a beautiful microwave , eh kenmore?

Standard Microwave

This is the microwave we purchased to use at my workplace. It is a pretty standard microwave; there is nothing about it that I particularly love or hate. It gets the job done, and is fairly powerful for the price. I like the sleek red color, but I don't like the way the door opens... I'm used to microwaves that have a button release. Sometimes you really have to pull on the door to this one to get it to open, and it gets all greasy in the inner cove with lots of work-kitchen-use. I've never had any issue with uneven heating though, which is all you really need in a microwave! Works with all frozen entree directions. This is the "good" microwave at my work... you don't want to get stuck using the other one! ;) I would definitely recommend this microwave for workplace/small kitchen use.

Not the best Microwave, but certainly meets my everyday needs

We purchased the Kenmore Countertop Microwave Oven when we moved into an apartment after living in a house with a built-in microwave. We are very careful about our purchases: we research like crazy. We found the Kenmore to be very well-reviewed, with a modest price tag. We are happy with our purchase. Our microwave is bigger than most. We are fortunate that we have it up off of the cabinet. In our old apartment, we had a tiny kitchen and the microwave hogged a significant portion of valuable counterspace. Its size is also a benefit, though: bigger on the outside also means bigger on the inside. There are many dishes I wasn't able to fit in our old built-in microwave that fit into this one with ease. It is easy to clean - both inside and out. The glass tray that rotates is easy removed and washed by hand. I appreciate the automatic buttons as well (for popcorn, defrosting, etc.). It does a much better job with these functions that any other microwave I've owned. Perhaps it's just a glitch with our particular unit, but occasionally the power to the unit goes out when you shut the door. It's not convenient to unplug and plug it back in when it's in a cabinet off of the counter, but this does fix the problem.

My Kenmore is good enough.

I recently purchased this Kenmore microwave for two reasons. 1. my microwave of 7 years finally gave up and died, no possible repair! and 2. I liked the color, I am slowly transitioning all my appliances over to red, and this one was the best looking one I could find. The microwave is surprisingly loud, and that took some getting used to. It is very noisy when running, but tolerable because really, microwaves normally only run for a minute or so. It isn't as powerful as I was hoping, but that is my fault, I didn't read the description well enough before I bought it, Hubby says I was sidetracked by the color. On the plus side, it is really easy to clean! I like that the rotating arm is recessed into the bottom of the microwave, making the plate sit closer to level. The plate itself is quite durable, as I unfortunately have dropped it twice now and nothing has happened to it! And I love the color. Overall, it was good enough for the price, but next time I may spend a bit more and worry less about the color!

Inexpensive and durable

My husband and I purchased this microwave almost three years ago when we got married. It was fairly inexpensive (as microwaves go), but we decided to take a chance on it. I'm glad we did! Not only do I love the glossy red color, but it cooks food quickly and thoroughly, even after several years. It's also extremely easy to clean: I just put a mug of water with a few splashes of lemon juice into the microwave for 60 seconds. When it's done, all the crusted-on food and spills clean right up with a swipe of a cloth. I also love that the glass plate is easily removable so you can scrub it down in the sink and then put it back. I only have two complaints about this microwave. The first is that the cord is very short, which really limits your options about where to plug it in, unless you want to use an extension cord. The other is that, as with all microwaves, defrosting meat is always a gamble. As long as I'm defrosting, say, some ground beef that's not totally frozen but just needs the chill taken off, it's great. But forget trying to defrost meat that's frozen solid, because all it will do is defrost and start to cook the edges. So as long as you can remember to defrost your meat ahead of time, you're good.

Shiney, bright, easy to use, quick cooking microwave oven.

On Black Friday my wife returned home with a ***Kenmore Bright Red Microwave Oven*** to replace the one that died a few weeks before. When I saw a bright red appliance sitting in my kitchen I thought to myself, " what has my wife gotten us now?" After using this 1100 Watt micorwave for a couple of weeks my answer is, "A good appliance that does everything that I ask it to do." I do a fair amount of cooking and often use the microwave to help me cook. I primarily cook on or in a gas stove and use the microwave to thaw and prepare ingredients. I really like the different functions of this appliance and find it very easy to use. My kids use the microwave to prepare a lot of the food that they eat for snacks and meals on the weekends. Even my eight year old son has no problems cooking and warming food with this microwave. The microwave has numerous quick program buttons with a chart inside the door listing the different possiblities available by pushing the buttons once, twice or three times. The door does not pop open when cooking but is easy to pull open when done. The handle is build into the door so there is nothing to catch on clothing. There is an automatic turntable to keep the cooking even. The overall size of the unit is smaller than our previous microwave but the interior is as large as our last one. This allows storage of spices and other cooking supplies on top of the unit. And now that it is a couple of weeks old we all love the bright color. I wonder if our next stove will be red too?

Very happy with this Kenmore Microwave!

My story about this microwave is very similar to the other reviewer's; I picked this up on Black Friday for a great price.  My husband and I had just moved into a new apartment and needed a microwave. This Kenmore microwave has done everything I've asked of it, and looks snappy in the kitchen, too.  At first I didn't like the color, but it has grown on me.  I love that it has so many shortcuts and functions, and also a child lock.  My husband and I have both been very impressed, especially with it's ability to defrost meat in a short amount of time.  I've found that it can be a little too powerful, especially for frozen dinners, but I don't really view that as a bad thing, just something to watch for.  The manual that can with the microwave was easy to read and straightforward, exactly how the machine is itself. Overall, I'm really glad I bought this microwave, and will be buying Kenmore products in the future.
