Perfect minimalist training potty

5

Since we live in a small house I didn't want to use a training potty at all, but came across this one and decided it was small enough. I loved that it could be used on it's own or as a seat on the regular toilet. My oldest caught on to the potty training soon after I got this out and it was so low to the ground that it made it easy for her to use it by herself. The liners that you purchase for it are convenient, but in a pinch I've used a plastic sack with a paper towel in the bottom. I never did travel with it, but was glad that would be an easy option.

The first potty you should buy your child when potty training

5

As someone who started potty training her children at a very early age, before they turned a-year-old, this ingenious item has become invaluable to me and my family. It is small and compact enough to fit in a diaper bag, but it fits adult size toilets perfectly when out and about. With its four legs that unfold and allow it to become a lower, on the ground child size potty when on the go and unable to get to a potty, for tiny bladders that can't hold out as long as adults, it has saved me numerous times from accidents. You can purchase bags that fit this potty so that when you are using it as a stand-alone potty it catches the output your child has eliminated. I have however used other bags, such as plastic grocery bags and they work just fine (as long as there are no holes). This is by far one of the few "must have" items I recommend to every parent when potty training. It cleans nicely and easily. The only slight complaint I have is that when you do unfold the legs and use it as a stand-alone potty it doesn't get too far off the ground. This works great if your child is short or under two but as they get a little older it does put them very close to the ground, but my kids (tall kids) have had no problem.

A must have!

I bought this product on a whim. It was a fairly good price and I was bound and determined to get my daughter potty trained so I was intent on having everything I needed! That was almost 2 years ago and I still keep it in the trunk! At almost 4, she has enough bladder control to be able to wait until we get home or until we are able to exit the highway BUT sometimes the closest option just isn't clean. How many times have you stopped at a gas station and tried to maneuver getting the child and yourself in, without them touching anything etc. It's an awful shuffle. Once we got this travel toilet it became so much easier. It's small and doesn't take up any space and I've just always been able to block her while she goes and then simply throw the bag away. We have never had a spill or a non-absorbant bag. This has even come in handy at the park! In our area, they close our restrooms except during the summer. So, if you are enjoying the park on a nice Fall day the restrooms close. With the Potette Plus, I don't have to worry about loading up both kids and rushing home. Instead, a quick trip to the car and we're back to playing! A friend borrowed this for a camping trip and was equally impressed and purchased her own. It has held up very well and I'm very impressed.

Feel safe having your child use this toilet attachment

5

We bought the Kalencom Potette Plus 3 months ago to use with our 2-year-old daughter for potty training and have been very pleased with it from the beginning. We started our daughter out with a small stand-alone "froggy" potty for several months but then transitioned her into using the Potette Plus on our adult toilet. The transition was seamless, as she loved the bright colors of the Potette Plus. This seat attachment fits very well on top of a standard size toilet seat and has sturdy rubber grippers underneath to prevent it from slipping. I believe that slipping is one of the biggest complaints about other toilet seat attachments, so when I read reviews stating that this product was very secure, I felt safe buying it for our child. We have not used it as a travel potty at this point in time, but I do plan to in the future. I appreciate the fact that it comes with a sturdy plastic travel bag. I also like that it folds up very compactly. I could easily fit it into our diaper bag. Overall, this is an excellent product, and I would recommend it to anyone potty training a child!

Excellent emergency potty

I have had this in my car since my child began learning to use the toilet at 18months. She is now 5. At first, it was perfect because toddlers generally can't predict when they'll have to go and they have tiny bladders. It just made sense to bring it along with us. Years later, it is still in use for that occasional occurrence where the child needs to go (NOW) and there aren't facilities (or they aren't clean or just scary...) So, longevity? YES! It folds up small - when we were in the diaper bag stage, it fit easily in the bag. Official refills are, in my experience, unnecessary. A plastic grocery bag and some paper towels (amount depending on the child) do the trick nicely, and are completely disposable. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat.

Love This Product!

We use this all of the time! As a matter of fact, I am about to purchase another to have a potty for each car. My daughter is not quite two but is fully potty trained. However, when she needs to go, there is not much time to get to a potty. When traveling, we pull over and set up the potty in the trunk or in the passenger seat. I use regular grocery bags with napkins or paper towels to absorb liquid. So easy! I also use it on top of big toilets. My daughter is terrified of the "big" potty, but Pottete Plus eliminates her fears. At the end of the day, I wash the Pottete Plus in my daughter's bath water (after she is out of the tub).

we overcame a fear of public potties!

I found a Potette Plus 2-in-1 at a consignment sale and bought it to put in our diaper bag.  Our 20-month-old daughter would use our toilets at home (with other potty inserts) but absolutely refused to sit on or be held over a toilet anywhere else.  We think she was afraid of the automatic flushing of some of them.  When I tried the Potette with her a few times out-and-about, she still refused.  But when I made a big deal out of it at home and we used it for two days in our home toilets, she not only had no problem using the toilet with this insert, but she was also willing to use public toilets with it!  Triumph! The potty seat is strong and durable, easy to open and close.  It is also easy to clean/sanitize.  I like the drawstring plastic pouch that came with it (convenient for carrying in the diaper bag and to and from a toilet when we're not at home).  Because ours was used, it did not come with any inserts for me to try.  But a friend said she has used a simple bowl under the potty to catch and dump as needed. My only negative comment is that it did scratch/chip one of our home toilet seats, which was a little too small for it.

At home or on the go, this potty saves the day

I got the Potette for my daughter after my sister-in-law raved about how well it worked for my niece.  Since we were going on vacation soon after starting potty training, I was glad to have a potty that could be used anywhere.  The 'legs' of the potty lock upright to be used with a liner bag as a stand-alone potty when you're camping or not near a toilet.  While the liner bags can be expensive, you can easily make your own with double-bagged plastic grocery bags and paper towels for MUCH cheaper.  Then, the legs lock out to the sides to put the potty on top of a regular-size toilet.  This is mostly how we've used my daughter's.  The road-trip vacation was a breeze since our daughter had her familiar potty with her at every rest stop.  No 'strange potty' anxiety.  I liked that she could hold onto the potette's 'legs' instead of a grimy public toilet seat.  We use it on our toilet at home too for consistency, and because it's easy to clean.  While this is my favorite potty out there, I definitely think some upgrades could make it better.  I'd like to see the front of the seat be a bit narrower to fit farther forward on toilets.  For a smaller child, their legs go over the big toilet quite a bit, which can make for the back of their legs, underwear, and pants being right on the big toilet (not quite as big a deal at home, but can be kinda gross on a public toilet).  I've corrected that myself by putting paper towels over the exposed part of the public toilet, but I wonder if the design could be improved a bit.  It's very portable and easy to stow in a big purse or diaper bag, and it's got its own carrying bag.  Not perfect, but one of the best options out there in my opinion.

Great for Pottying on the go!

Kalencom Potette Plus 2 in 1 is a GREAT idea!  I bought it as an alternative to sitting my toddler on the auto-flush seats in stores- she is a bit terrified by them! The Kalencom Potette Plus 2-in-1 is easy to use and truly portable.  It consists of a base with two legs that you can set into three positions: Closed for storage in diaper bag Straight down for sitting on it's own flattened out for use on a regular toilet seat.  Each position is easy to switch, and the seat feels very sturdy when using its legs to stand. Kalencom Potette Plus 2-in-1 comes with a couple plastic bags with little absorbant pads built in, but I have found a budget friendly way to go is to simply fold some squares of papertowels into regular grocery bags and have them ready to go at all times. We use our Kalencom Potette Plus 2-in-1in the back of the car, and take potty breaks before and after leaving stores. This eliminates me having to juggle baby and toddler in a bathroom stall, and deal with icky public restrooms.  It has worked out great, and I recommend the Kalencom Potette Plus 2-in-1 to everyone I know!****

great portable little potty seat

5

I got this little potty seat to take with us when we were out on errands.  It folds up into the smallest little thing, you'd be amazed!  It fits right into the diaper bag with no problems.  My son was always afraid of the big toilets in public places, but this solved that issue right away.  He was able to hold onto the handles that flip out and felt very secure.  I credit this with the reason we've NEVER had a public accident!  This seat is super easy to clean.  But the way it's designed it doesn't really get messy, maybe just a small bit at the front.  It comes with a heavy plastic bag which is great to toss it in after use on a public toilet so it can be washed for next time.  It looks a little flimsy and it certainly doesn't look comfortable, but we've never had any trouble.  I've never used the option to make it a complete potty chair with the bag to catch the mess, but I did try to attach the bag and it's pretty simple once you figure it out. Great product!
