I use this in conjunction with john frieda brilliant brunette shampoo and conditioner, although im sure is not a necessity and can be applied on its own. I use perfecting gloss right after washing my hair when my hair is still soaking wet. temporarily seals split ends, in my opinion. adds SHINE. adds SMOOTHNESS. adds DIMENSIONAL TONES. 5/5!

I love the whole Brilliant Brunette line, but this is probably my favorite John Frieda product. I've used it on wet hair before blowdrying and flat ironing and it gives a nice shine and seems to make my hair smoother as well. I've also used it as a finising gloss to get rid of those little flyaway hairs and add a nice gloss. I like it both ways (although I wouldn't do them both at once or you'll definitely get a greasy look), but it gives a more dramatic look on dry hair. When used on dry hair though, it does require a bit more care, as it can look greasy if you use too much. A very small pea-sized dab rubbed thoroughly between your palms and then smoothed on lightly is enough. Since you just use a tiny bit, the tube lasts months, and it's pretty decently priced, and it's widely available at drugstores and mass merchandisers. I love the scent too, not perfumy, more of a sweet smell than a perfumy smell, which is great.

I've been perfecting my hair care routine for years and tried every anti frizz or curly hair product out there it seems.  Curly hair can make a sane person go crazy once humidity hits so it is always nice to finally figure out what "works" for your hair.  While John Frieda's Brilliant Brunette Shine Shock is not specifically for curly hair it works wonders on mine.  Sometime the styling products for curls turn crunchy or feel plasticy after a while, but Shine Shock applied to towel dried hair will retain shine and make for more natural looking curls.  I make sure never to run out of this gem and keep an eye out when it goes on sale at my grocery store or drug store.  The gel dries to a shine not to crustiness.  It does not make your hair seem oily. A little goes a long way and it smells great too.  Of course John Frieda recommends you use it as a part of their hair care system but I have also used it with other brands of shampoo and conditioner and had great results.

Alright, so if you read my other two reviews on the John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Shine Release Daily Shampoo and the John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Daily Conditioner, you'd know how I felt torn with them because I loved how they highlighted my hair NATURALLY (without chemicals or dyes) but I DIDN'T love how it left my hair as dry as a broom!! I have none of those feelings for this AMAZING John Frieda Collection Brilliant Brunette Leave On Perfect Glosser - I completely forgot that I even used this once and now I think I might buy this one again after my current product runs out. What I LOVED about the John Frieda Collection Brilliant Brunette Leave On Perfect Glosser was several things: 1. It smelled A-MAZ-ING! Mmmm, seduction-by-hair in a bottle! 2. It really DID up the gloss on my hair, without making it all sticky or stiff. 3. I like how it seemed to magnify the natural highlights that the Brilliant Brunette Shampoo and conditioner already put into place. So I'm not sure if it'd work as well when you use it ALONE, but I think it's still a great finishing creme.

I have long (to the top of my butt) straight almost black hair. It's natural and i don't perm or color my hair. It is so straight that it won't even curl if I tried, and believe me i've spent hours with a curling iron, only to have it go straight again within twenty minutes of me curling it. I don't use hair spray, gel, mousse or any other type of product like that. I've learned to accept the way my natural hair is and embrace it. So i just wash, condition, and go. But, i've always had this annoying problem of little stray short pieces of hair sticking up, especially on top near where my hair naturally parts so i've tried numerous products to keep just those strays to stay down. The products i've tried are more like a sleek and shine, or "no fly aways" but, everything i've tried has not held up to what they offer. I received a trial of the John Frieda brilliant brunette Shine Shock with my shampoo, even though it's a perfect and polisher, it works perfectly for the problem i'd been having. I just LOVE IT! LOVE IT! Not only does my hair stay down but, now it has this awesome shine. Not like a greasy, you didn't wash your hair shine, but, a beautiful model's type of hair shine. Now all i do is wash, condition, put the Shine Shock on my wet hair and go. It is a truly amazing product, again, LOVE IT!!
