Excellent starter machine

5

I bought this machine 3 years ago after suffering with a Kenmore for about 30 years. I love this machine. It is the best overall beginning machine, as the beginner can grow into it. The machine does many other things and I even use it for quilting and decorative stitches. I am now in the market for an upgraded quilting machine, and will choose Janome. Most likely the 6600. Janome is so user friendly. Totally a workhorse.

GREAT Janome Sewing machine!

5

This sewing machine is a great one! Beginning friendly, novice friendly, and even a perfect one for advanced techniques. There are a lot of feet that you can attach to this for help with certain things. The many different settings and stitches are perfect for all types of sewers and quilters. They have several basic and several fancy. The power is great and the cord length works great for me. I can't think of a better machine as a gift for anyone who would want one. I have made many things with this - from blankets to bibs and repairs and upholstery repair...it can handle it all. I didn't buy this for myself but when researching later, I saw the price and saw how really reasonable it is. You don't want to buy the cheapest one out there. Think, you will just have to buy a new one when you realize how cruddy it really is. Just go with Janome.

What a wonderful sewing machine for the price

I bought this sewing machine when in 2007 for my daughter who was just learning to sew at the time. We did not want to buy a real expensive sewing machine, but we also wanted to get one that would last a long time. So based on the recommendation of a friend we purchased the Janome 2007 and have been very, very satisfied with it. This machine has been used a lot and it has never given up. It has not broken or needed an major repair. It just keeps on sewing. It has a lot of nice functions and various stitches. It has a nice digital display to select stitching styles and sizes. One really neat feature about this machine is that it has a slow/fast switch on it. This is wonderful for young seamstresses.

Good Machine

I've had my Janome machine for over 10 years now and it has been a dependable machine. I don't remember ever having to have anything repaired on it and that is saying a lot since I am an avid seamstress! I make most of my own clothing and so use my sewing machine quite a bit. I like this machine because it has several extra feet, some "fancy" stitches and yet is still basic and easy to use. I love the thread cutter that is right on the side of the machine. I love the easy location of the backstich feature. I love that you can easily see, thanks to the computerization, what size stitches you are making and tight or loose your tenstion is. I had considered spending more money and getting a Bernina, but really, I'm glad I didn't. I saved the money and still got a good, quality machine that has served me well! Ps. You will need to buy Gutterman or other good quality thread for this machine to run well.

Great for routine sewing and more extensive quilting!

After making do with a 30 year old sewing for years, my husband took me to our local quilting shop and bought me a new machine! I got the DC2007LE and could not be happier. I've had this machine for a few years now and we've created a LOT of wonderful things. I use it for routine sewing, like clothing and toys. I love the stretch stitch that is semi-stretch for working on knits. I like how VERY customizable all the stitches are, you can adjust length and width of ALL the stitches. I love all the great special feet that Janome has, from the walking foot to the darning foot and the 1/4" foot, they are all great! One of the best things about this machine is that I can use the darning foot for free-motion quilting! I could not do that with my old machine because I couldn't drop the feed dogs! This machine has a simple switch that drops the feed dogs and away you go! As with all machines, I have had this machine ball up the thread when starting to quilt a project at the very edge. The only way to prevent this is to start with a scrap piece of fabric to prevent the thread snare. I don't think this is at all specific to this machine. The only other issue I've had with this machine is the horizantal placement of the spool. Sometimes, no matter what I do, the thread snags on the spool, which wouldnt happen if the spool was held upright instead of on it's side. We purchased the floor model and got a great deal, but even without the discount the DC is a good value. (They come out with a new DC each year so the chances to getting a deal on last year's in pretty good, too.)
