Ferrous sulfate is a type of iron. This type of iron can be found in your every day normal diet. Ferrous sulfate is also a essential body mineral. Ferrous sulfate is used to treat an iron deficieny anemia. Anemia is a lack of red blood cells due to lack of iron in your body's system. their is also a thing of too much iron in your system. overdose symptoms include nausea, severe stomach pain, bloody diarhea, coughing up blood that looks like coffee grounds, shallow breathing, weak and rapid pulse, pale lips. I normally take my tablet on an empty stomach prior to eating. i normally take my tablet in the morning when i wake up. I personally think that it gives me an added boost in the day that i need. Along with the benefits of taking ferrous sulfate like taking any medication their are also side effects with ferrous sulfate. Less serious side effects include constipation, upset stomach, black or dark colored stool, or temporary staining of the teeth. I personally take a stool softner along with taking ferrous sulfate. My doctor told me that ferrous sulfate does back you up so taking a stool softner helps the neverending cause of making sure your bowels take their every day natural course. It is just a precautionary measure, so that you dont wind up in more pain later on. I personally take ferrous sulfate after my daughter's birth. i developed anemia shortly after and i still have it to this day. taking the necessary vitamins and minerals to keep a balanced body, will help prolong my life so i can be there to watch my daughter grow throughout the various stages of her life. so i can be there as a parent. and to me their is no greater gift than the gift of being a parent.
