Years ago I always did my taxes by hand, reading very diligently all the fine print in the books they publish to help you naivgate the obscenely confusing forms. Once I finally had internet and a computer at home (I mentioned this was years ago) I decided to look into turbo tax after seeing all their ads on television and I've not gone back since. One year because of some new changes to my financial situation I invest in the Premium turbotax instead of the basic or deluxe that I would normally use. I can't say that I really got much more out of it and probably could've used the cheaper version with the same outcome. Turbotax itself is really great, it lays everything out in laymen's terms so there's no confusion. The forms you fill out on the site are set up to look like the copy you have in your hands, so you can type everything in without fear of putting something in the wrong space. I've never had a problem with it at all and have always gotten a maximum refund.

I finished filing my taxes yesterday using TurboTax Premier. I had to upgrade to Premier because of certain "exotic" investments. This is the third year I have used TurboTax and find it makes the job a lot less unplesant than it used to be! It is very user friendly and when I have something that I am not sure where to enter It will guide me to the right place (like an OID item). Of course it manages to get me back more than I expected too, a big plus! Unfortunately about an hour after I filed electronically I got a revised brokerage statement in the mail. II will have to file an ammended return, which it will also let me do. There are some real issues with the info I got in the mail that have to be resolved before I do that though as some income from this January is included in the totals....Nobody is perfect. Ease of Use I have some rather diversified investments and this covers them all. It walks you through everything. I still hate doing taxes but thhis is a lot cheaper than an accountant and enables you to do the job in small bites and return and complete, add or make changes. Customer Service If you really get stuck you can call. Features Just about everything is covered. Depending on how you answer more details will pop up.

If you have investment income (beyond interest and dividends), this product is for you. It not only helps you with reporting capital gains/losses, but income from rental properties as well. It makes it easy to generate the proper reports without having to go through the tedious Schedule C and D instructions, and also calculates your taxes quickly without you having to do several worksheets to see if you are getting the best benefit. Before you start, you should make sure that you have visited the websites for your investment firms, banks, brokerages, etc. and authorize them to let TurboTax download your reportable income directly to TurboTax. This will save you a LOT of time inputting numbers and lessen the chances of making a mistake. If you have rental properties, there is a section to help you not only report your income, but also figure out the depreciation on your properties. If you've received income from an inheritance or through a trust, the Premier version will walk you through that as well. The software can be purchased as a CD or downloaded from Intuit. If you get the CD, you can have the option for both federal and state returns (you only get federal if you download). I've only used the PC version, but you can also get the software for Mac. If you go to any of the tax prep offices or even using an independent accountat, they're essentially using similar software (many accountants that I know use TurboTax for their clients). Since TurboTax is very user friendly, why not do it yourself and save a little time and money?

I have used turbo tax in the past and have been pleased with the results. Have used for personal and business and while I do not have very compicated returns I feel it did a thorough job in asking the right questions and giving suggestions. Would definitely recommend for those who have more than simple filing but would not use if I was Bill Gates and tax situation. Wouldn't that be great if they could get Bill Gates to promote this product as the one he uses instead of accountants?

I have been using Turbo Tax for years, and have had no problems! A few years ago, I tried H&R Block's program - and I went out and bought Turbo Tax! Turbo Tax is so much more user-friendly than the other ones "out there". You don't have to have a degree in computer science to use it; you just load and go!

I have used Turbo Tax for several years and did not think it was as user friendly this year. First, there was and is a computer glitch regarding the deduction for HSAs. We never could make this work and ended up not taking the deduction. Just in general, it was not as easy to use. I was not aware that there was an alternative and next year will probably try it.

I just used this again this year and am VERY satisfied! I am getting money that I did not know I was eligible for...at a time when I can really use it! I think they are as accurate as they can be...consider the amount to have your taxes done by a local preparer...way to expensive...they eat up more than 1/4 of your refund!! I will use them every year...much cheaper than HR Block also...Very satisfied customer here!!! Please do realize that no tax preparee can guarantee that you won't be audited randomly! All in all..my best option and VERY user friendly! I will have my money in 8 days!!! :-)

A simple taxpayer could probably get the "simpler" version of TurboTax but if you have stocks then Premier is the way to go. The box/download software lets you e-file up to 5 Federal taxes for free and download one free state form. So if your family/friends are in the same state, you can work together and probably get full use of this. Otherwise, you will have to spend more to cover the different states you have to include and the state e-files. I just wished that the state e-files were already included (up to 5) like the Federal taxes. Aside from the cost, the software itself is pretty easy to use. It guides you through and does have capability to download from sources like financial/company payroll to avoid any typos you might do when typing data manually. What I like is that TurboTax gathers the forms I need and knows the new tax laws that I'd probably have to read up on to do my own taxes. Whether it's the best refund I could get, I'm not sure. I know that I answered all questions as best I could. At the end before you submit, it does a quick check and offers you some add-on services. I prefer to keep it simple and hope that the check is accurate to catch any mistake especially when I manually enter some info. Sometimes I find that I have to manually enter things esp. the stock stuff. Overall, I think it's a good tool. I believe that many DIY-types use it but sure wished that with the mass of users, it would at least get cheaper in the future and include the state e-file or multiple states for family who live apart.

I've used Turbo Tax for many years and have graduated to Home & Business TT for the past three years. Yes, it can be a PITA to navigate around until you get used to it. My husband and I file separately - he is self employed, with depreciating equipment, and thousands of receipts and deductions; and I am employed outside the home, have a small business, and need to file multi-states. Tax time is as annoying as hell, but TTH&B has made it fairly simple to get through.

I have always had a very complicated return, and I had a small business doing other returns that were also quite complicated. I sold that business last year and decided to utilize Turbo Tax to replace my software proigrams. It was a very pleasant surprise. The Federal return is quite intuitive. It makes long lists of securities transactions as simple as a few keystrokes. I completed my return in a relatively short time, reviewed it, corrected mistakes I made and transmitted it. I received the small refund in 10 business days. I am extremely satisfied.
