Willing to Pay a Higher Quality Version

This item is very cheap. Dirt cheap in fact. It gets the job done and you are able to replicate some Chinese recipes to a certain degree. It's quick to heat up and very easy to clean due to the non stick coating. The problem is that the coating is quite cheap and sometimes after regular use of the wok, the coating can get blistered and sometimes it will come off and attached itself to the food. So you have the same residue in the food. This can't be safe. I checked the label and it doesn't seem to be the coveted Teflon coating. If the coating did not come off, this would be the perfect product. I used a metal spatula, maybe a wooden would cause less scratching. Ease of Cleaning Very easy to clean. Just soap and water will get rid of all the residue from the cooking. Make sure you have a great detergent that will cuff through the grease Durability Doesn't appear to be durable. Coating can come off. You have to be very gentle while using this to avoid scratches.

Cheap Junk!

I love woks. I'm no chef and I'm not sure I could stir fry anything to save my live, but I like the shape of pots like this for making lots of things. Spaghetti sauce, pulled pork, all kind of things cook up easier in a wok! I came across this particular wok at IKEA and since it was very VERY cheap I decided to pick one up. And once again I was as taught the lesson that you get what you pay for. I washed it well before I used it, so I didn't have any of the smelly smoke problems some other reviewers have mentioned. The first time I cooked with the wok it worked great. No problems at all. The second time was a different story. I was using the wok to make spaghetti sauce. Ask was stirring I started to notice black flakes in my sauce. I was stirring gently, I was not scraping the sides or the bottom of the wok at all, yet the non-stick coating was flaking off! Yuck! I had to toss the sauce in the trash and order a pizza for dinner instead! The wok went in the trash along with the sauce and I had to invest in a better one. Ease of Handling I loved this because it was so light weight. I was hoping to have it for a long time! Durability This was basically a single use item for me, like a paper plate. Not what I was expecting.

Nice wok at a nice cost.

I have usually bought my woks from Ikea because of the cheap cost and the years that they have lasted me. I never thought that they would last as long as they have. They cook evenly and nicely, and are just what you need when it comes to woks. I love the looks of this particular one- the black with the contrasting handle. Doesn't necessarily have that Ikea look to it like so many of their products do. Doesn't Stick I've had good luck with this wok in the way of ease of cooking and foods not sticking as much as other brands. Heat Distribution It seems like one side or the other always cooks a lttle hotter than the others, but maybe I have a wonky cooktop. Ease of Handling The handle doesn't heat up so it's easy to manipulate and move around. Ease of Cleaning Super fast and easy to clean. Design It has a great design. Simple and looks great with the rest of my kitchen tools. Durability These Ikea woks have worked and lasted wonderfully for me over the years. I don't think I'll ever own another brand of wok.

College Student Must Have

I guess they discontinued this thing, but man, when I first bought one of these for like five bucks, I felt like a goddess of the kitchen. So many stir fries were made in this thing. Frying rice and veggies was a breeze! And it worked wonderfully, at first. This thing was made of a cheap thin metal that began to break down after heavy use. Washing it became a fragile chore, I worked carefully to get any grime or food off of it while not damaging the wok itself. I mean, for the price I paid, it did what it needed to do, it looked so nice hung up on my wall, and it lasted for a couple of years before I threw it out because I was worried I would find bits of metal in my meals. It is a shame they stopped making these, as I went to an Ikea lately and was hoping to get a new one. The only woks I could find were very expensive and I didn't want to spend that much. If they brought this one back, I would definitely buy it again, even though it is kind of disappointing.

May be hazzardous to your health!!

1

The wok has nice design and was easy to handle. But don't buy it. The black paint on the wok came off the first time I used it. I don't feel safe to use it the second time and throw into garbage. Don't want to donate because it could be harmful to others Doesn't Stick Actually it doesn't stick, but I still throw it away. Do me no good. Ease of Handling Handle nicely, but I still throw it away. Ease of Cleaning Cleaning easily, but I still throw it away after first use. Design Nice design, but I still throw it away. Durability I throw it away after first use.

DO NOT BUY. IT'S MADE OF TOXIC MATERIALS.

1

I only used this wok maybe once or twice. I placed it on my hot stove and it started to smoke instantly releasing a toxic smell and almost made my bf pass out. I walked into the kitchen and instantly had a burning eyes nose throat everything and couldn't stop coughing. We had to leave the apartment for 10 minutes at least and throw out the wok. It still smells in here and is burning my throat and nose. Im not sure what just happened but it was very toxic and we both feel like we've been poisoned by some horrible product. Ikea you lost my business forever. That was down right dangerous.

This product should be recalled due to the defective finish.

1

I only used this Wok 3 times. Although it was easy to handle & cooked great, the 3rd time I used it to saute spinach, the black finish came off of the interior of the wok and was absorbed by the food. As I was stirring the food, about a third of the interior bottom of the skillet disappeared revealing the silver steal or whatever the material was used to make the product. There is no way that I would buy any cookware from IKEA again.

cooks well

Personally to me there isn't much to a kitchenware item. As long as the item does not release harmful chemicals or materials while it is heated up to does not bother me. They must also look presentable as well since I do not want an abomination sitting in my kitchen. The IKEA wok fits the bill perfectly for me and it does what a wok is supposed to do. This is great for large batches of cooking since the IKEA wok can accommodate a large portion of food. As always the wok sold for just a fraction of other stores and there's no point paying shipping for online purchases when you can just get a really good unit that works from IKEA. It has a very simple presentation and most of it is colorless. It does not have that stainless or aluminum look to it which is too bad.

so easy to handle

5

the IKEA wok is an excellent tool for your kitchen! when I bought it the size of it made me wonder whether it was really worth getting it or not. and although it is quite big, it is totally something you will use and enjoy in your kitchen it is very easy to handle, very safe since it has two handles and the price is good too.
