Hurd replacement windows and also can be used in new construction are energy effecient.  We have had these for quite a while.  The only problem we have run into is that some of the screens stick and sometimes the storm window will not open due to plastic parts that break.  Otherwise, they are easy to clean.  Maintenance free on the outside and wood which we stained on the inside.
