I bought this machine to clean my carpets as I have a grandson and two dogs and, consequently, there are stains everywhere. I bought it at 4 o'clock in the afternoon on a Saturday and returned it the next day at 10 a.m. When the store opened. It would put out the water but not pick it up. I tried calling the Hoover company no lock I got on their Facebook page and describe the problem that I was having with the machine. The person that answered me on Facebook so apparently worked for Hoover stated that I needed to do some minor mechanical repair. Apparently something was reversed in there. Maybe it's just me but I really think that the machine should work right out of the box and I shouldn't have to do repair work.I have always been a Bissell girl and I guess that I will stay one. Ease of Maintenance Is it possible to give something a zero? Suction Performance Once again, is it possible to get something a 0? There was no suction all it did was put out the water and not pick it up. I had to go rent a Rug Doctor to clean up the mess it made Design it was difficult to fill. As to emptying it, don't know it didn't work.

We received this home carpet cleaner as a Christmas gift after we got our dog.  It left our previous apartment's carpet looking very nice when we moved out!  For general, overall cleaning, this SteamVac does a good job.  It does get a lot of general dirt out of your carpet and leaves it somewhat fluffy.  Drying time is regular.  I would say to clean your carpets at night so that they will be dry in the morning.  We have used different kinds of cleaner with this vacuum, and it all does a good job.  It doesn't work on spots very well, you have to pretreat those.  For high traffic areas, I would recommend going over it several days in a row to get all the dirt out.  Either that or clean your carpets more regularly than twice a year (which is what we do).  I really have noticed a difference in our carpets when we clean with this machine regularly, and it definitely saves on carpet cleaning costs!  Recommended.
