It meets our needs exactly. We often have guests who smoke and after they leave everything smells just awful. With this device, we managed to even keep the smell under control and the air wasn't that suffocating. In short, the device served it purpose. I'm only concerned about its duration, because in some reviews people said it didn't last very long.

This product works great & does what it advertises.  The smell isn't the greatest, but it's tolerable & much better than smelling pet odors, smoke odors, cooking odors, etc.  I thought I'd like the vanilla scent the best, but it's actually the worst scent.  I prefer the lime above any of them.  It isn't the quietest machine, but it's not unbearable.

This is a very good product. I like the fact you dont have to buy filters and it has a great scent. It really draws the dust out of the air. You can actually tell your home is fresher and the air cleaner within a day. I highly reccomend this product.

I love this product, you are advised to change the filter every 24 hours, but its no hassle cause the filter is water.  The scent fills the whole house instantly.  There is a blue nightlight feature that mesmorises my kitten and my 3 month old daughter.  Its not whisper quiet but it is still bearable and after the first few hours you dont even notice the sound.  this is on my x-mas shopping list for family

    My HoMedics Brethe Air Revitalizer  up and quit on me about 7 months after I got it.  It sat in the corner for over a year, I couldn't bear to toss it, as though some day it might resurrect itself.  But I'd buy one again, I loved it that much, and still have a bunch of botanicals left.  Many folks didn't care for the botanicals but I liked them all, just some more than others.      When I got my Brethe I was still smoking,  hated cooking smells, had just gotten a 2nd cat and was super conscious of litter box odor.  This was the answer to my hang-ups.  At first I couldn't believe this oversized night lite could clean the air like they claimed.  I still don't know exactly what or how, but it made the air feel fresher, breathing easier,  and added a nice smell to  boot.  The water I emptied out looked dirty so something was happening.  I moved it back and forth from kitchen to bedroom, that pretty much took care of my little apartment.  I was amazed at how well it wiped out cigarette odors.      Winters around the corner, I think I will get another soon to help with the dry air.  I was holding off in hopes the price might go down, but it seems to be holding steady.  That wonderful fresh smell is worth it, I just like to get things for less when possible.

I bought the  HoMedics Brethe Air Revitalizer at a local thrift store. It was brand new in the box. I must admit it sat in the box for about 2 weeks before I got it out and plugged it in. It is loud. But after losing the frying bacon smell after about 2 hours I was impressed. I live in a three bedroom apt with a dog and a cat. So we are no strangers to odd smells. But this machine is the best I've ever owned for cleaning the air. I prefer it to the chemical sprays that mask the odor. I've had a lifetime of allergies and this seems to help control the stuff flying around in the air. I know the water get dirty pretty quick and we have to change it out. But I would recommend to anyone who needs a clean fresh smelling room.

At first, I was thrilled with it.  For the first week and even the 4th.  I used it daily, I was so excited about it.  Over time, it seemed to get louder and lounder.  I had to remove it from where we slept, anywhere near music, to nowhere near a T.V.  The other problem I have is with the plastic.  I've just had to swish water in it or just use a damp sponge to clean.  I've been very careful with it.  It doesn't matter how careful you are with it, the plastic looks worn over time.  It begins to get a lime build up too.  I used vinegar to clean that up, but there is always some that remains.  I don't know how, but in gets scratches on the inside too.  The plastic gets a bit cloudy too.  I have no idea why this would happen, as I only use the proper products in it.  I just change scents.  My excitement and love for the product has greatly dimmed in a short time.  It makes the one great feature, the ambience of the blue light, appear behind a cloud and not as nice as it was when I first bought it. :(

I needed help and I needed it bad. The air in my house was AWFUL!! Three dogs and two smokers...and I suffer from allergies. I had ruled out the ionic air cleaners, because I hate the smell of ozone, and they all seemed so bulky and kind of a pain to take care of. After hunting through several stores, the display model caught my eye. The price was reasonable, and it offered scents. Plus it only consisted of a clear plastic bowl and the little motorized top. After bringing it home, I was hooked. You fill the bowl with water, add a couple of squirts of their natural botanicals, pop on the top and plug it in. Absolutely immediately the aroma took over the house. I couldn't smell doggie stink, I couldn't smell smoke. After it running for several hours, the air literally felt cleaner. After 24 hours (which is the recommended run time), the water in the bowl was gross, a dingy yellow color. It was cool how the water swishing around in the bowl actually cleaned the air. And cleaning it is so simple. Empty bowl full of nasty and rinse. Refill, add scent and go! I'm so planning on buying a couple more so I never have to breathe ick again!

This is a fairly small, bowl into which you put water, and scent if you want it. The motor sort of draws air into the water, which removes particles from the air and then releases it. There is a slight humidifying effect--not enough to be called a humidifier but enough to add an extra bit of freshness to the room. You really can tell it's working, as the water does get a bit dirty and the room smells and feels fresher. There's a blue light which you can turn off or on. I didn't care for it, but some people might like it. The swirling water makes a relaxing background noise which you don't really notice after a while. I can't sleep with it on, but I don't mind it any other time. I do ferret rescue, so I'm constantly looking for new and better ways to freshen the air. I would keep one in each room, and I did like what they did. The water needs refilling and changing about every day, so it's not something you could leave on and go away for the weekend, but that's OK. And--no filters to buy. As far as the scents go, yeah, the "botanicals" seem a bit yucky./medicinal, but they could really take the odor out of the ferret room and then dissipated nicely. My problem was that every single one I bought (4) just stopped working after about six months. The return policy didn't go that far, and I really hesitate to buy more of them after that experience. They're not expensive, but constantly replacing them could get pricey.

The Brethe Air Purifier by Homedics really DOES work.  It seems to remove the odors out of the air, but I'm not sure if it's just covering it up with it's own scent, or if it's "cleaning" the air.  It's definitely an interesting looking thing, but could I get my money back, I think I would.  The reason is, the fragrances that come with it are overpowwering and in my opinion, the just plain STINK.   bought my own fragrance oils, but I'm not sure if this machine needs the other ingredients that is in all of it's scents.  The jury is still out on that.  But if you're planning on usig the supplied fragrances for this machine, please smell them first.  They have a very strange odor.
