I got this laptop when I returned to college after being out for many, many years. This model was especially beneficial to me because I wrote a lot of papers using this laptop and was able to do so without any problems. Ease of Use Very easy to use, although I did get a wireless mouse because sometimes the internal mouse on this model would stick and not work sometimes. Battery Life The battery life was decent, not spectacular. I always kept a back up battery, especially if I knew the laptop was going to be used heavily on a specific day. Support & Service I have the support and service for a total of 3 years, about the length of time I owned the laptop. I really did not need to call them very often, however when I did they were very helpful to me. Speed/Performance The speed and performance started off really good, however as with all electronic after awhile it slows down. The especially depends on what is installed on the laptop. Design I love the design of this unit. Very sleek and simple. Durability It did wonderful for me for the first 3 years of owning it, however someone else is getting use of it now and it is still going strong.

I think that this laptop is EXCELLENT! I've had this laptop for only a year, and I'm really enjoying it. There are so many things about it that I love about the HP Pavilion dv7 laptop. Ease of Use The laptop, by default, had Windows 7 Home Premium on it, but I heard you can upgrade it to Win. 8 (which I didn't). Win. 7 is a very great OS, and is extremely user friendly and not too advanced, whether it's for pro users or somebody first using a PC. Battery Life This is where the laptop seems to fail: the battery life. On here, the battery life is not so great. The hours are pretty bad, especially for an HP laptop. I've tried doing stuff like turning down the brightness and not using too much CPU and memory, but the laptop still has a terrible battery life! However, in our house we also have a newer HP laptop (don't know the name, sorry) with Windows 8 and the battery life is equivalent to mine. I would keep the charger plugged in all the time, but I heard that it could possible wear down the battery and plus, it's an unnecessary waste of electricity. Support & Service Support for this laptop (actually, ALL HP laptops) are excellent. If you have a problem, you can just contact HP and they'll help you with your issue, whether it's BSoD (blue screen of death) or if your computer won't turn on, they'll help you with anything. HP support is also very nice and friendly. Speed/Performance The speed and performance is pretty good. It's not crazy slow (unless you have lots of programs running at once). Design The design for the laptop is EXCELLENT. If your using this laptop on a desk, then you'll benefit from this very model. More and more laptops have flat batteries inside of the model, so when you type with the keyboard it'll be like typing on a flat surface. But, because this battery is sticking out, you'll get more of an angled typing space, which I think is MUCH better than writing on a flat surface. However, if you'll be using this laptop on your lap, then the battery will stick out and your legs might get tired of the laptop on top of it. When it's on my lap, I overlook it so it's not exactly a problem. Durability The durability is...alright. There is a scratch on my screen and on the outer rim of the screen, however those scratches are not even noticeable when I'm using my computer. However, with use of my laptop, there are stuck pixels on my display which is VERY annoying.

I got my Pavilion four years ago now, and it's still going strong! It's been my friend through many class asssignments, and it doubles as my TV and music player. Couldn't be happier with what I got for the money. Ease of Use Well, it comes down to if you like Windows or not. I am used to it. The computer itself is easy to use. Battery Life Ok, don't expect too much here. I upgraded my battery but it was soon down to pretty much no hours again. Always carry my charger with me. Support & Service Not used. Speed/Performance Decent! Design I think it's gorgeous. Personal taste. Durability Yep, just a few scratches so far.

The laptop is fast and easy to use. does everything I need it to do including some gaming. I use it as my main computer even though I also have a desktop pc. I would recommend this laptop to anyone in the market for a laptop in this price range. It is an all around good value.

We, my wife and I bought HP because they were cheaper than most of the others. However, this past yr, we have two laptops that there were battery issues. Mind you they were less than a yr old when they were having these issues. Would get plugged in, not charging, so thought perhaps it was a cord issue with the first one, and got a different cord. It worked for a while and then it would start up same issue. Took the battery out, and just use power cord and no problems then. However when mine also did same thing, it is getting old. It will charge up to a point at times and other times it won't. Battery life should not be less than a yr and when we normally use a cord, so it's not just on battery. We had one other HP before that did same thing, and had to get a battery. So we thought it was a one time deal. We found out later from a tech person, that HP has issues many times with the battery. We would rather pay a little more and find one without as much issues than to deal with another HP.

I have been a fan of the HP name for some time. When I saw this dv7 go on sale a while back, I jumped on it. It seems to be holding together really well. The display is nice to watch movies and play games. The HD is a good size t store lots of music and movies. It is very connectable (USB, HDMI, and such). A couple things that I have noticed, though. One is that is looks older than it is. The 'trim' around the display has some light scratches and smudges that seem to come from the computer itself? (It rubs on itself while closed?) That is looks and in no way detracts from it functionality. My optic drive has quit working, but I think/hope that's because I took it to Iraq on deployment. All in all, a great machine. I just hope HP makes it, so it can help with servicing/updating type things.

I've had this laptop for about a year and a half now and I love it! The screen is huge and has a good display quality, and the keyboard has the side number pad which I use all the time. The only problems I've had with it were from someone stepping on it which has nothing to do with the laptop itself. After it was stepped on I had the screen replaced and the laptop held up fine and I haven't had any problems with it. I love this laptop because it runs very quickly and the audio quality is great for listening to music. Ease of Use Very user friendly and easy to work with. Battery Life Sometimes it dies a little faster when the fan gets hot but if you keep the fan clean the battery lasts for hours. Support & Service I had to have it fixed once from it being stepped on and I had it sent back in perfect condition in less than a week. Speed/Performance Loads and runs faster than several other laptops that I've used. Design I personally like the design, I think the brushed aluminum is a nice color. Durability I've had this laptop for over a year and a half now and I take it with me everywhere I go and haven't had any problems with it.

I wouldn't live without this. Love the graphics. Love all the games and web browsing I can do with it. I play a lot of music videos and mp3s and works awesome for all my uses. Very easy to use. And HP gives great support. Ease of Use I was able to teach myself how to use it. Buttons are big and screen is great and clear. If I can learn anyone can. Battery Life My Battery didn't last but 2 hours at a time. I think they could have made it better. Support & Service Hp service was great. They answered all my questions and replaced the battery without any problems. Speed/Performance The speed is awesome as well. goes very fast and gets me everywhere I want to go. Design I love the chrome look. Looks cleaner and newer all the time. Durability well, I had it 2 years before I started having any issues with it's performance. I am on the laptop at least 10 hours a day everyday, for the use I put into it I would say it does ok.

Love this computer and I have my fingerprint to get access...nice. Ease of Use Ease of use is exceptional on this product. Battery Life Has more battery life than any computer I have had...nice to take in the bedroom when mom is watching tv. Support & Service Support is good but have to wait quite a bit. Speed/Performance WOW what speed. Note: great for gamers and eamilers but computer does freeze up ater 9 straight hours but easy to get pageback or just sleep for 10 minutes. Design Love the silver finish. Note: the left clicker does rub off. Durability This computer is 17.5" but is easy enough to carry in a good tote.
