Caught me by suprise


Healthy choice always suprises me with it's newest trends and up to date menu innovations. But still, I have to be honest when I say - My intentions on eating the whole meal were not there. I honestly bought it because the turkey medallions and potatoes looked delicious. I, however, was not the least bit impressed with the butternut squashes look. I wasn't so sure I would be endulging on that anytime soon. Fighting the part of my brain that was trying to convince me that it would be quite a waste to purchase it even though I was certain I would not go anywhere near at least 1/3 of it. After thoroughly convincing myself, I decided to make the purchase. At home that evening - after everyone was fed - except me, I microwaved my meal and went into hiding in my cozy little home office. I was right about the turkey and potatoes, they were delicious! After a few minutes, my husband came peeking in - aren't you going to eat that? So of course, I say yes, I am, later! I decided I wanted to avoid his mouth more than the taste so I decided I would have a spoon to show him I was serious. At first I was a bit worried that I wouldn't be able to hide my disgust from him so I treaded slowly. I tried it. At first taste my perception didn't waiver entirely. It was okay. Second but I tasted the fruit intermingled with the other flavors and was pleasantly surprised. I buy the meal quite often now and yes, I still enjoy it in my cozy little office.

Healthy Choice Slow Roasted Turkey Medallions are very good. I find Lean Cuisine entrees to be the best of the healthier frozen meals. The slow roasted turkey is one of my favorites by far. It has good flavor and maintains a proper consistency when heated.



good low calorie choice for under 200 calories


Frozen entrees are fast and easy but so many are  too high in calories !  I believe you should try to purchase them under 250 calories if you are eating them for lunch. I add a salad, low cal dressing, home made toasted almonds and 1 tablespoon low fat cheese.  This gives me a well rounded meal under 300 cals.  This entree tastes good, is very low in calorie and enjoyable !

Healthy Choice gave me about a tablespoon of mashed potatoes.


I was excited about trying the new Healthy Choice Slow Roasted Turkey Medallions which are served with red skinned mashed potatoes and a mixture of butternut squash/apples/cranberries. These are all foods that I really love, and I generally like Healthy Choice meals. Whew boy. This is one skimpy meal. How it checks in at even 220 calories, I just do not know. It must be the gravy, because there are not many bites of turkey, and the mashed potatoes might be a tablespoon. This frozen meal is heated for 3 minutes with a **** over the vegetables. Then, it says to spoon the gravy over the potatoes. That is quite a trick given they only have a little blob of potatoes in there. When the gravy is spooned over the potatoes, then it's like the potatoes disappear - thinned totally out by the gravy. The turkey was pretty good, but it would take someone with a really tiny appetite to be full off the 5 or so quarter sized pieces of meat. Also, the meat ran just a tad rubbery - not really bad but not great either. The vegetables were the best part of the meal and mostly due to the cranberries. They provided a sour contrast to the sweet squash and also to the heavier taste of that savory gravy (which was not very good). This meal is low fat and no wonder with the servings so skimpy. You're not likely to get fat eating like this. But, you may want to watch the salt. They pack in 21% of what's allowed per day on that. How they managed to put that much salt in this little amount of food, I don't know. The meal doesn't taste salty. All in all, I must say that this was a disappointment for dinner tonight. I'm sure I'll need to cook or round up something else to eat, because I'm still famished. They might as well forget the mashed potatoes if they are not going to put any more in there than they do. Just bulk up the cranberry mixture. That was pretty good but would be a bit much with the tart flavor for a whole meal.
