Great price, great product

3

Hartz products are great products that offer a vast amount of products for an inexpensive price. As most pet owners will testify, many places will charge an arm and a leg for pet shampoos, bones, etc. Hartz answered by bringing the same products for less money. Thanks to Hartz for making pet ownership less expensive!

hartz shampoo doesnt really work

2

We have a huge bottle of Hartz shampoo for our doggies, it claims it is for treatment of fleas and ticks. Well I think I have given it enough trials to see if it works, and it does not! nothing works quite like the flea and tick treatments like biospot, the monthly doses. This actually start working in thirty minutes! I was dissapointed with the Hartz shampoos, i thought they would be less harsher than the monthly flea and tick treatments but just as effective, and i was wrong, not matter if you use alot of the product, which i would nt receommend, as they can cause an allergy and it says in the label not to use alot, it does not work. And I have used it consistently as instructed in the label to do so for it to work. I have not used other Harzt products, so I do not know if it is just this shampoo which is a bad product or if other products are also not good from this brand. Also this has a really strong horrible odor. It smells medicinal! poor doggies that are shampooed in this, I switched to a regular shampoo and treat with biospot, which has no lingering foul odors.

Hartz is Great!

Hartz is a great Doggie Shampoo if you are looking for a temporary fix to the flea problem. This shampoo serves my dog in a great capacity. It has a fresh smell. The only drawback is it makes too much suds.

Hartz puppy shampoo - is gentle

4

I just brought a male shih tzu puppy about a month ago. He is a cute little fellow with patches of white and coffee au lait so it's imperative to keep him clean and well groomed. I used hartz grommets best puppy shampoo in delicate jasmine scent. (Jasmine scented mainly because I don't like doggy smell) Shih tzus are suppose to be hypoallergic and have very little doggie odor. My little puppy has no fleas because he's mainly an indoor dog and it's winter. So at this time I can not tell you about how effective it is against fleas. I can only tell you about how well it works cleaning fur. He's a bit sloppy in his eating habits and tends to get dog food gravy over his face. as any dog owner would tell you, dog food smells and stains white fur. It also sorta leaves stains on light color fur. I usually brush his fur prior to giving him a bath to remove any loose fur and knots. The hartz puppy shampoo is suppose to have conditioner in it and gentle on his eyes. The shampoo removes the surface dirt and leaves him smells clean. How long the clean smell lasts depends on the breed. For example, my sister's German Shepard will develop a stink faster than my Shi tzu. Overall, hartz dog or puppy shampoo isnt bad for the price. It cleans and conditions the fur, comes in variety of scents and types. It's widely available in all stores.

Not good enough

2

I did not like anything about this product at all. Well, the price was great... but I soon learned why it was so cheap. It does not do anything!! Also, my dog had red painful looking skin the day after using this product! I bought this from Walmart. It was a great priced product that claimed to get rid of fleas. So I bought it. I followed the directions exactly as it said. I know my dog had fleas. So I thought this would be good to help with that problem. But it didn't. I saw a few come off him when I rinced him off. But not all of them died and came off. Also, if you are not bathing your dog every day with this, it is only a short term fix anyway. The next day, I noticed him itching. I looked at him and his poor skin was so red. I felt so bad for him. I went to the vet and ended up putting him on Advantage Multi. It is a heartworm prevention but it also deals with the flea problem too. It is cheaper this way because it takes care of more than one thing at a time. And since you should always have your dog on a heartworm preventative, you may as well take care of the flea problem too.

A little spa treatment at home

Our dog is a little spoiled and gets visits the groomers regualarly; he's also a Yorkie and we don't particularly like the longer hair so we keep him short.  Although he's a small guy, he loves being outdoors and playing with other dogs.  With his adventurous attitude, the fleas love to try to become dwellers on him.  This shampoo helps to fight off any infestations that try to start up after a long day outside.  Any fleas/ticks he may have on him just wash away, and it fights against them actually getting on him too.  The shampoo is also very gentle on his skin and leaves his coat soft and shiny.  We don't have to wash him too often, but during the summer we spend weekend after weekend at our lake house.  He loves to run around and get in and out of the water.  He smells so bad Sunday night when we return, but we can wash him using a small amount of this shampoo and fight the bugs and smells all in one.  He also has the same smell of spending the day at the groomers; we use the soft vanilla scent!

Hartz dog shampoo could be better

3

Hartz dog shampoo could be better, but this afirmative depends of the type of shampoo you are using in your dog. I tried two diferen types. First was the blue bottle, for fleas and tiks and that is the one I am talking about when I say it could  be better. I was expecting more from the brand, so I believed it would get rid of the fleas, if not on the first usage, but on the second, third.. buut it did not happen. During the bath the fleas would show, in the water, my dog would stop itching, but next day it would be back. I tried it until the bottle finished, but it was not good enough. But the oatmeal Hartz is good. It does not promise a lot, but it cleans really well, I can tell easily that because my dog is snow white. Besides, the scent is very subtle, as I believe a dog shampoo should be, but good and it lasts a while. It feels natural and not harsh on the skin, helping relieving itchy skin.

Smells fresh

Nothing worse than doggie body odor - -  although my Springer Spaniel doesn't care for bathes - -  it is a MUST!!   This is good shampoo & smells fresh.   Lots of bubbles sometimes makes it hard to rinse.

Hartz Shampoo, ok but others are better

3

I bought the citrus version of this Hartz brand flea and tick shampoo for my dog.  My dog is a lab/pit bull mix with short/medium hair.  He tolerated the soap fine.  I felt that I had to use a lot to get him smelling cleaner.  Even after two washes with this soap he still smelled like dog.  One day at the dog park, another shampoo was left behind (Sentry Fle & Tick I think).  I tried this one out and it worked really really well.  After one wash he smelled really clean, much cleaner than with the other shampoo.  This one was one of the cheaper shampoos at the pet store, but next time I think I will spend a little more to get shampoo that really helps with the dog smell.  I can't really speak to the issue of whether this shampoo helps with controlling fleas.  My dog takes seperate flea medicine and it doesn't seem to be much of an issue for him.  Overall the soap is ok, does the job but I suspect others would work just as well, likely better as far as making your dog smell fresh and clean.

Hartz Shampoo help to make the coat very shiny.

4

**Hartz Shampoo help to make the coat very shiny.** I have a short haired Jack Russell Terrior / Chi. mix. He looks like the dog on Fraizer. See my photos. Ever since I started using the Hartz shampoo his coat has become very shiny and smooth. It is only since I started using the Hartz shampoo. He is also shedding less, and if you know anything about pet owners, then you know, hair is the one thing we have to deal with, that we don't want. You wouldn't think a short haired dog would shed more than a long haired. You would be wrong. Shadow sheds every three months like clockwork. But, since I started using the Hartz shampoo and the Furminator. He is shedding very, very little. I used to be able to pick up his blanket every day, and immediatly have to take it outside to shake it out. Now I only have to do it once a week! Between the Furminator and the Hartz shampoo, his coat is shiny, healthy, with very little shedding. Try the shampoo and the Furminator. You will be glad you did. Doc.
