The Hamilton Beach Icy Treats Ice Shaver is one of the poor products to buy because I bought this and it turns out very awful that it didn't what is supposed to do. The ice shaver is not good because when I put ice in there and turn on the switch it move around and it stops because the ice did shave a little then it stop I tried it again and again no ice is coming out so I was thinking that the ice that I bought is from the store didn't work so I use the regular ice in the refrigerator and when I put them in it happen again not still shaving I thought that it was real to make ice shave or other kind of stuff but I was wrong it is an awful item to buy and to get because it will not make what you want to make. The Hamilton Beach Icy Treats Ice Shaver product is not so great so if you seeing one of these product in the store you should think before buying it because if you buy it without thinking you will not get a refund back.

every summer my favorite thing to do with my children is to make snow cones and slushies. its a great way to spend time together, bond and have some fun. i like slushies more than snowcones and this machine creates a fine shave of ice for slushies. i get to choose my own syrup and soda rather than picking from the few that are offered at the machines. its pretty easy to use and i think its fun. the machine makes shaved ice quickly and makes a lot. i do not like that it has no on/ off switch since everything should have one if its an appliance. its also a bit loud but thats not a big deal since we do this outside or indoors during the daytime. its great for my kids friends and keep them cooled down on those hot sunny days.

This Ice Shaver is a TON better than the one I had a as kid. WOW, they've improved things. What a nice treat for the summer, and not just for the kids! This Hamiton Beach Icy Treats Ice Shaver has the options for both Snow Cones, and also Slushies, which is my kid's favorite. And, it holds a lot. We get this out, and we've got enough for everyone to have a snowcone or slushie that wants one. The one of my youth would just make one at a time! People have complained that this guy is loud, um, all ice graters are loud, so yeah, it's going to be loud. What you want to look at is capacity, and how well it actually shaves the ice. This one works like a champ. I couldn't be more happy! The kids love it, and so do I (yes, I still partake in a slushie or snow cone at my age!)

My kids love snowcones and I've tried several different ice shavers but non have lasted more than one summer this one works so well (most of the time) that I've actually started buying lots of different flavors for them to try. It took a little bit of getting used to to get the right size of ice to shave and you have to make sure the lid is on just right but when it works it really works. I can make icees for 6 kids and their friends in no time at all. We usually use a mix of cubed and crushed (well sort of chunked) ice to get it to work. The large ice bowl has been really nice too because I can mix the ice for several kids at once, this lessons the complaining quite a bit. It seems to be pretty sturdy all of the pieces are still intact and the blades are still sharp. We had problems with other machines getting a dull or dented blade and stopping working. I think of it as a summertime treat but my kids have no problem requesting an iceee anytime of the year!

My fiance and I unexpectedly found this in the prize shop at Dave and Buster's. It was funny because we had just been talking about how great it would be to have an ice shaver, and then we found this one as a prize and luckily we had enough points to get it! I'm not sure how much this product actually cost since we picked it out as a prize, but it wasn't a ridiculous amount of points to buy it so I am guessing that it doesn't cost too much.  This ice maker has 2 settings, one for slushies and one for snow cones. So far we have only tried the setting for slushies. It grinds the ice nicely and makes for a good slushy-type ice. The only problem is that you have to have a lot of ice to get a full glass of it for your drink. We found that when we made our drinks, the ice melted quite quickly when we didn't have enough. Also, it's better to have fresher ice, rather than ice that you've had sitting in the freezer for a few months.

I bought the Ice Shaver so my wife and I could make some margaritas and sit on our deck.  I could make better margaritas and shave ice better with a butter knife.  This product gets jammed up, there is no difference in the speeds or texture options.  It's awful.  Don't save money to make good icy drinks, get a good blender, and this is not that.

After reading some reviews on a couple of other sites for the Hamiton Beach Ice Shaver I was hesitant to make the purchase but I am glad I did. Yes, it is noisy but I expected that - after all, it is crushing ice! What really surprised me was how quickly the machine produced enough shaved iced for 2 - 3 slushies. I assumed this would not be a very powerful machine and I was fearful that we would be listening the appliance running for a long time but that was not the case. Also, the quality of the ice after running through the machine is much better than I expected. The machine has two settings - one for slushies and one for snow cones and  it does a very good job with ice straight out of our icemaker. It is very consistent in the size of the ice shavings and lets no larger pieces fall through.  Clean up of the machine is very easy and overall the size makes it fairly easy to store with all of my other kitchen gadgets and appliances. The only drawback is that there is not an on/off switch on this unit. After plugging it in to the electrical outlet you activate the shaving mechanism by locking the lid into place.  I found this to be slightly annoying. Overall this is worth the money and I have no buyer's remorse!

My kids love snowcones.  Before this machine, I'd tried grinding ice in a blender or food processor, and I'd tried another ice shaving machine.  Nothing I'd tried before gave me the consistent, tiny pieces of ice that a good snowcone requires. This machine is perfect.  It shaves the ice into fine little bits, which make the snowcones come out perfect every time.  It's easy to use, very easy to clean, and doesn't require much effort. This is a great machine for someone who wants to share the process of making snowcones with their children!  It's easy enough where even a kid can help use it! It shaves enough ice at a time for our whole family to enjoy their snowcones together. It is a little bit large to store, especially because we use it so infrequently.  And it is certainly loud to use. However, if you have the space and your family really enjoys snowcones, this machine will certainly let you make them perfectly each time.

This works great compared to 3 other snowcone machines I have tried.  I've only had to adjust the ice cubes a couple of times and I have used it several times.  It includes a mixer if you want to add in flavoring or you can just do the ice and easily rinse it out and it will be ready for the next time.  I can do enough ice for my 4 kids with one ice tray and about 5 minutes max.
