Hamilton Beach Ensemble 12-Cup Coffeemaker with Glass Carafe,

Summary

With its sleek contemporary styling, this 12-cup coffeemaker not only looks good on the kitchen counter, but it also provides an array of convenient features. The machine's user-friendly control panel and digital display ensure ease of use, while its programmable clock/timer function allows for waking up to the aroma of freshly brewed coffee. A glass carafe comes included, complete with a stay-cool handle, measuring marks up the side, and a drip-free pour spout. For sneaking a quick cup of coffee midbrew, simply remove the carafe from the machine to pause the flow of coffee, then replace the carafe to continue the brewing process--a nice feature, particularly for those in a hurry for that first sip. Other highlights include a nonstick hot plate, two-hour automatic shut-off for safety and peace of mind, cord storage, and easy-to-clean removable parts. The matching Ensemble toaster, can opener, and blender can be purchased separately for a coordinated look. In bold red with stainless-steel accents, the coffeemaker measures approximately 11 by 8 by 14-inch and carries a one-year limited warranty.

Overall this coffeemaker is okay--but: I don't think it keeps the coffee as hot as I would like and there are almost always grounds in the bottom of the carafe. However, it does make 12 cups which is nice if you like to drink a lot of coffee and/or are not drinking alone. And, it is easy to use.I do recommend this but with some reservations.

Overall, I love this coffee maker. It brews quickly, and keeps the coffee hot enough so that you don't have lukewarm liquid once you add milk. I like my coffee light so many other coffee makers just don't keep the coffee hot enough for me. The only thing that I don't like about it, is that the opening to pour in water is in an awkward position. I do also like that I was able to color coordinate my appliances to my kitchen decor!

It gets the job done, so overall it's acceptable. A couple things I've noticed: In order to use the programmable feature, you have to set it up every single night, and take it all back out and refresh it the next morning. Also, you have to poke buttons randomly to make sure your programmed time is still the same...in case you've forgotten what you've set it for. When you open the lid ANYTIME after brewing has completed, the condensation on the underside of the ENTIRE lid goes all over the place...usually back inside the coffeemaker, sometimes back behind the unit and all over the counter. It DOES stop dripping mid-cycle if you remove the carafe, which I was skeptical of at first, but glad to see it works. I love the red color. It's spiffy in my kitchen lol. The blue light to let you know the unit is on is INCREDIBLY BLINDINGLY bright. It's like it stares into the depths of your SOUL. Ridiculously unnecessary. But the clock digits themselves are rather quite dim...they could have balanced that out a bit. It has either regular or BOLD brew options. I usually always set it to bold. And we use the boldest brew coffee, too, so it's always pretty strong. I haven't tried the 1-4 cup setting yet...not really sure what that one does...figured that's what bold did, but what do I know :-P The 2 hour automatic shutoff feature is helpful, because my hubby and F.I.L. take FOREVER to get around to actually pouring themselves a cup once it's ready, so at least it's staying warm while it's sitting there for so long unattended. Overall, though, again, I still like having the unit around. We got it per hubby's request for coffee that was already ready to go straight out of bed, so they could just grab and go...pour into mugs and take them to work. And it works for that, so I consider it a success :-) Hopefully it lasts a LONG time, but we'll see! Brew Performance Takes about 10 minutes or so (when putting in approx 5 cups worth of water) from setup to actually being done with the cycle and ready to pour. Ease of Cleaning I haven't gotten too fancy with it yet, at this point. I simply rinse the carafe, swish it around, pour it back out, and put it back in the unit. I've had to wipe down the underside of the top flip-up lid several times, though, because there is SO much condensation that pours all over the place if I don't. And sometimes the grounds splash up onto there, too. Design It's cute? :-P Durability I won't be able to really gauge this aspect until I've owned it for a decent amount of time. At this point, it's only been about a week.
