I have been using electric can openers for 30 years. The real downside of most of the models is the way the cutter enters the top of the can, potentially contaminating the liquid/food inside. Does it ever come clean enough? I never thought so. Here is an ingenious little device that cuts around the rim, doesn't touch the food (that I am aware of ) and slices a nice, neat little top that you can also use to store the food if you don't use a whole can! It is also effortless to place a can on this can opener. Just make sure the cutter is lifted (from U-loop in back), put the can up next to it, and good to go. The can opener grabs the can without your having to adjust it - or like other can openers having to keep trying to plunge the cutter into the can before it will begin its rotation. I LOVE this can opener and will buy another one when this one quits. Another important fact: You will never cut your hand on the sharp edges of a can top ever again. The smooth under the lip cut by this can opener is a lot safer to use. Recommended highly. Durability I've had it for five months, so not a very long test of durability. So far, so good. Design Safer, easier to use, and provides a way to use the can to store unused product.

Tall cans fit perfectly. You have to hold down the power lever the entire time though. Design The lever has to be held down the entire time you are opening a can which just isn't very convenient when you are attempting to multi-task while making dinner for a crowd.

Gone are the days of manual can openers! This can opener was a gift several years ago and I love it. Performance After many years of owning this, it has never failed. It runs not too loudly, does not malfunction and works quickly. Durability When moving into a new house, I dropped this on the concrete. Shockingly, it didn't break. It didn't leave even a scratch. These are not made cheaply. Design The best part of this can opener is how it's designed. First, it is fairly small sized, so it doesn't take up counter room. The best part of it is how it opens a can. When you lift up the handle and place a can under, all you need to do is press the handle down and don't even need to hold the can. It holds the can for you. After it's done the can stays in place and does not drop. I have used this thousands of times and never had an issue with it releasing a can. Lastly, unlike some can openers, it cuts the can open and leaves a lip on the can, so no sharp edges to cut your fingers on.

When this can opener works, it does a great job. The can opener opens a can from its side. It produces smooth edges that are safe to touch and makes disposal very easy. For normal, working usage, I do have a slight concern that the can opener doesn't have a stopping mechanism when the can is done. For the other half of the time when the can opener does not work, it is hard to keep from flinging it to the wall. Certain types of cans will not be punctured by the can opener. Sometimes it will make an incomplete cut in the metal and leave metal shavings all around. This can opener is a little hard to recommend with the flaws mentioned above.

Ok you seriously need to buy this if you are looking for a high end can opener. This think is sleek in design but better yet is the single best can opener I have EVER owned! I open cans with ease and it cuts them in the middle of the lid so that they are no sharp edges. It works everytime!

This is easy to use and looks good enough to put on your counter top. It cuts the can differently than any other can opener I've seen so you don't get those sharp edges on the outside of the lid after the can is cut open. It's fast and smooth! Highly recommended!

I have a lot of problems with can openers. My and cans? I don't know, we just don't mix. I've gone through so many manual types, my hubby got me this one for Christmas. It's a real beaut. And, i'm not demolishing cans trying to open them. It's super easy to use. It works EVERY TIME. It opens cans with in a breeze - it doesn't stutter or half open and get stuck, or stop 'opening'. And, it's a very pretty little product. It looks nice on my counter top when I leave it out by accident. I can't say enough how wonderful this product is. I wouldn't use any other can opener after trying this one. Fast, efficient, clean, easy, just a real joy to use. Thankfully, since my hubby travels and isn't always home to help me open the cans!

I purchased this can opener for my mother last year for Christmas, not sure of what to expect. I was thrilled with the results! She has arthritis so using a handheld can opener was becoming difficult for her. I wanted to find something that would load easily with a large "button" to push so it would be easy for her to operate. I found all that in this model. This can opener runs smoothly, operates efficiently, opens cans safely and is easy on the hands. I used it at her house and commented so many times on how much I liked it that she bought me one for Christmas this year. I've used it several times and absolutely love it! I love that it also opens pop-tab cans without sharp edges. Having kids around the kitchen, it's important to me to keep things as safe as possible. My 9-year-old son even uses it with ease and I don't have to worry about his safety at all. If you are in the market for an electric can opener I would look no further! This is the one to have in any kitchen!

Hamilton Beach was very smart when it created this can opener.  I thought I would never own an electric can opener because they can get so dirty and unsanitary.  My handheld ones were getting rusty from washing them so I decided to give this one a try.   From what I found on the market, this can opener is unique in the way it opens cans.  It cuts down where the lid meets the side of the can so that it does not touch the food inside the can.  It also creates a lid that you can replace on the can and it won't fall into the can.  The lid is not sharp to the touch.  It has a "lock" setting for the handle.  When you want to use it, you lift up from the locked position and then push it back down on the can.  It is not too loud when opening cans.  I also love that it has a great little pair of scissors that are stored neatly and slyly on the back of the can opener.  It's not oversized and it looks nice so you won't mind keeping this on the counter for guests to see.   I recommend this opener to everyone I know.  I'm not sure why there are other electric can openers on the market!  You can't beat the quality of this can opener, especially considering the low cost!
