My cat loves this.

My cat loves the Hagen Catit Drinking Fountain. It's great for older cats who prefer drinking out of a sink faucet. If they can drink from this little fountain, it makes it to where your older cat doesn't have to jump up on the sink or you don't have to pick them up and place them up there. Only problem is sometimes when my cat gets hyper she decides to start splashing the water everywhere, ha ha. The fountain is surprisingly quiet except when it gets low in water, which is a nice reminder that you need to refill it. It's obviously a little more work than simply putting a bowl of water on the floor but I think the extra few minutes are worth it. My cat loves drinking out of the sink faucet so I used to have to turn it on for her when she wanted water. She is getting older and not able to jump as well so sometimes she would have difficulty jumping up onto the sink. I would often just pick her up and place her up there. I saw this product in the store and thought it looked like a much better option. So far, I love this and so does my cat. It has not only the fountain part but additional reservoirs if your cat decides they would rather drink from those. Occasionally my cat will get hyper and decides the fountain part needs to be attacked and splashed everywhere. It really doesn't bother me too bad but it may some people if you come home and your floor has water all over. I think kittens may be more prone to playing in the fountain part. I highly suggest this if you have a cat who likes to drink out of the sink. It's not that expensive and isn't that difficult to assemble, clean, or fill. The filters are sometimes a challenge to find but just stock up on them when you do find them. Flavor Selection Not it's purpose.

Hagen Catit Drinking Fountain is a dream come true for my cat!

My Russian Blue cat Ming would drive me crazy when he would get in my sink to drink water from the faucet! I always gave him fresh water several times a day but that wasn't enough for him. He loved running water in fact he would try to get in the sink whenever I had water running. I don't allow my cats on my counter or sink so this was frustrating. When I saw the Hagen Catit Drinking Fountain I had to by it for my furbaby! I knew that he would love it and I was right! It took him a few minutes to check it out but once he got the nerve to try it he loved it! I'm so happy I bought this for him and I'm even happier that he's no longer interested in getting in the sink and drinking from the faucet because he has his own drinking fountain. It was definitely worth the price. It can be a little difficult to clean and the filters are a bit pricey but it's worth it to make my cat happy and to keep him out of my sink!

Great unit for my cats!

This unit works great. My cats love it. The only complaint is that I with it held more water, but it is not too bad. I have to refill once a day, for 4 cats, thats not bad. Great item that really does keep their water clean and fresh and promotes drinking.

helped my cat drink more for less urinary infections

My cat was always licking drops of water from the sink, so when I saw the catit water fountain by Hagen, I just knew he would love it!  He loves licking the water from the dome, I hardly ever see him using the basin.  With regular water bowls, he would stick his foot in and move the bowl before drinking-he can't move this one, and seems less inclined to try!!  So there is less watery footprints around the fountain. I was also advised by my vet to try to encourage him to drink more after a series of urinary infections.  Since blockages can be fatal, I was thrilled that he enjoyed drinking from the fountain so much. The dome is simple to fill, but be sure to clean the fountain weekly-more often if multiple animals use it.  The plastic parts get slimy if left too long, and the pump can get totally clogged if not taken apart to clean periodically.  I use a q-tip and toothpicks to get in the tiny cracks and ridges. If you are not sure how much your pet is using the fountain, just pay attention to how much they pee!  It's well worth a pet's good health to have to buy replacement filters.  Much cheaper than just a vet's office call, not to mention the tests and medication.

Recommend this for dogs and cats

My cocker spaniel LOVed this fountain until the pump died out on me. It was really perfect because his ears wouldn't go into the water bowl, and so he always drank out of it. It was initially purchased for my cat who really have a problem of jumping into faucets to drink water. This fountain did not fix my cat's bad behavior. But my other 3 cats and dogs always drank out of it. I believe the pump died out on me after 4 month of using it. I always unplug it at night and replug during the day. Anyways, this was the most easiest thing to clean, but the filter was so expensive!! My cats always drink out of the fountain right after they eat their food, so chunks of foods always stuck by the filter, forcing me to replace it every 2 weeks or so. Other than the fact that it didn't last as long as I wanted, i think the concept of the fountain is better suited for a dog than a cat. I think I will repurchase it for my dog since he seems to miss it the most.

most cats love it

My cats love the cat-it drinking fountain from Hagen. I bought this after my cats decided they liked to drink the running water when I turned on the sink. Now that I have this fountain my cats are spoiled. They can not get enough of it. They can play in the water and drink it too and it is healthier being filtered like it is through cat-it. So they are not drinking as much chemicals as they would be if they were drinking regular tap water. The water does not go stale with it running instead of just sitting there. My vet even likes this product, she says that with the water running the cats are likely to drink more water than they are if the water is just sitting in a bowl not moving. I love this product and would highly recommend it to my friends and family if their cats love to drink out of the sink when they turn the water on. But if you have hard water there is only one thing I do not like about this product. The deposit from the hard water clogs the handle where the water comes out and goes over the dome and can cause the threads to strip easy when you have to clean it once a week.

The CatIt Drinking Fountain solved all my problems!

My cats are messy eater.  They knock food all over the place and were constantly getting it into their water bowl.  As I could not move them any father apart, I felt like I was washing out the water bowl ever day.  And since they were always so small, I had to refill them often too.  The CatIt Drinking Fountain solved those problems. First, any food that falls in gets pulled against the filter.  They don't seem to be getting that much food into it which may be due to the fact that the sides are so much taller than their old bowl. Second, I only have to add water ever few days.  When I change out the filter, I fill the dome up with water as directed.  However, because it is a bit difficult to sit the dome down properly on the base, I don't bother filling it that way again until it is time to change the filter.  I just grab a full glass of water and pour it into the reservoir.  I'm usually getting a glass for myself anyway so it is no big deal to give the cats some more water first. I also don't change the filter out as often as recommended.  I'm already putting filtered water into the fountain, and with the smaller amount of food dropped in, it just doesn't seem as necessary.  Our two cats drink from the reserve and the water flowing over the dome.  It just seems to depend on what type of mood they are in.

Easy way to have fresh water available 24/7

Pamper your pet with fresh water Catit Cat Drinking Water Fountain by Hagen I wanted a way to provide fresh water for my cats at all times.  I searched on the internet and found the Catit system.  It took my cats a couple of days to actually approach the fountain as they were a little scared of it, but they now love it!  There is a water reservoir that refills the fountain as the cats drink.  There is a pump that pushes water over the dome.  There is also a filter to keep the water fresh.  The fountain even keeps water at a cooler temperature which my cats seem to appreciate :)  I recommend this for cats or dogs.

Not worth the money

The Catit Drinking Fountain is the second waterer I have purchased.  My older cat uses it but my younger cat is not happy with it.  It is messy to refill and you have to have patience to get the top in the correct place so the water will run.  Also, it has an annoying loud hum.  I had the Petmate waterer which didn't last six months.  I have now purchased a Drinkwell and will be trying that.

Flowing water for even the pickiest cat!

The Catit Drinking Fountain was a life saver for us! Our elderly cat had always preferred running water to a bowl of still water, but as she got older, she had a hard time drinking out of the bowl - I don't think she could see the water very well. She took to pawing the water, which oftentimes left us with more mess and no water in the bowl! The Catit really caught my attention, because it allows the cat(s) to either drink from the reservoir, or to lap the water running over the surface of the dome. I felt this item would be the best for our old lady, so I purchased it.It worked out great! It holds quite a bit of water, for starters, and it is so ***quiet***! The only time it makes noise is when it gets low on water - which is really a good indicator that you need to refill the dome. There's a filter on the edge of the outer reservoir that the water flows through - it does a great job of catching all of the food particles and hair that make their way into the water. The cost of the fountain was reasonable, as is the cost of the filters. Of course, I comparison shop for the filters to try to get the best price, then I buy several packages at one time. There are 3 filters to a package.Cleaning the Catit is easy - just follow the instructions. Filling the Catit is easy, too, if your tap water is good quality. Since we live out in the country and have quite a bit of iron in our water, I like to use bottled water, and it can be quite a challenge to pour the water into the refill area without spillage or a mess. Still, though, I've gotten good at it, and it's so very worth it.After our old lady passed on, we put the Catit into storage... then got it back out after the arrival of our new cats. We now have two cats who enjoy drinking out of the Catit Drinking Fountain. It has been running for a couple of years now without issue.
