For the first time ever, Hewlett-Packard has disappointed me. I bought the Pavilion tx1499us Notebook Computer expecting what I had always found in the HP brand: reliability, product longevity, and superior performance. Don't get me wrong-this laptop is loaded with great features.  The swivel screen and stylus pen are especially fun.  It's the reliability of the machine itself that has been the problem!  Various issues (screen going blank, stylus pen not working, computer not turning on, etc.) began less than four days after my purchase.  After spending three unsuccessful hours on the phone with HP Customer Support, the store where I bought the computer deemed it a rare "lemon" and gave me an even product exchange. Currently, the computer is covered under HP's one-year product warranty, and I've already had to send it to HP for repair because the computer would not "wake up" from hibernate mode.  While this was frustrating, I do give HP credit for making the product repair process extremely simple.  They repaired the computer's System Board and Heatsink Fan and returned the computer within a few days as promised.  So far, everything is working properly. Since buying the HP Pavilion, I've discovered that a LOT of people are experiencing similar pains of unreliability in HP laptops.  When the computer works properly, it's wonderful; but if I could do it over again, I would buy a different brand.
