Tastes Great

I have used this sauce when I wanted to make something nice for my wife for dinner, but wasn't sure how to make the alfredo sauce completely on my own. I decided to try using this one while cooking my own pasta and chicken, and it worked quite well. The bottle was sealed well and the expiration date was pretty far away from the day I bought it (so it would last longer if we wanted to save it). It also came in a good sized jar, since it would make a good amount of chicken alfredo without too much sauce left over. It tasted fresh and good instead of stale, and it was also the right consistency for alfredo sauce (not too thick or too watery). One downside was that it was a little saltier than I would like, but it wasn't bad. The price was also much lower than the name-brand alternatives for alfredo sauce, and the taste of this one was just about as good as them. All around, it tasted great and met my needs. I would recommend this product to others, and I would go back to it again myself.

Not out of the jar

Although I enjoy most of the Great Value brand products, this one has me somewhat stuck in the middle. It's kind of complicated. It is a relatively low cost version of alfredo sauce that is supposed to make your meal making a bit simpler. And, it actually does, in some senses. I think this particular sauce is good but not great when used out of the container with no additives. This sauce, for me, is meant to be used more as a base or starter rather than using it directly from package to noodles. It is a little bland and doesn't deliver a home made taste. It delivers more of a fast made and quickly thrown together entrée. It needs to be put in a pot over fire and combined with other ingredients such as parmasean cheese, garlic salt, black pepper, evaporated milk and oregano. There is a dull and mildly cheesy taste to it. It's texture and consistency is smooth and creamy. Everything about the sauce is okay. I just can't honestly say it is great out of the jar. If you can tweak the ingredients a little bit, you can use this sauce to create something truly delicious. It is definitely worth the effort once you master your own mini recipe to enhance the overall base flavor. I can recommend this sauce as a base or starter for a great meal only.

It's not as good as the name brand but it does taste good. It is also great for nights when you need something quick and easy. Add noodles and chicken and you have dinner in no time. The only thing I have noticed about the great value brand compared to name brand is that it tastes like it is missing something. I have tried adding spices to it but it doesn't help.

Could use a bit more flavor.

After trying many different kinds of alfredo pasta sauce, I came across the Great Value classic alfredo pasta sauce. The flavor was okay but it definitely needed a little extra something to enhance the flavor. It was rather plain. Some garlic or another spice would have helped tremendously. The cost of this is very affordable and if you are looking for a basic alfredo pasta sauce this may work for you.

A basic Alfredo sauce.

We often will buy this pasta sauce when making a pasta dish with a strong complimentary flavor (like blackened chicken Alfredo or smoked sausage Alfredo) because it really is the least expensive decent Alfredo we've found. It's also okay but not great as the featured flavor on pasta, but it improves if you sprinkle some Italian cheese on top. Overall, it's a basic and not too flavorful sauce that works well as a base or as a secondary flavoring.
