My garage door opener has worked well for years. The garage door opens if you press the remove even from a distance. When the door is opened or closed, the light inside the garage door turns on. The light is on a timer, it turns off automatically in about five minutes. (Over time, I've found this is a nice feature.) You can also JUST turn on the light. The Garage Door opener has sensors and it will not close if it detects anything blocking the path of the door. This is a nice safety feature. There have been times when something (like a leaf) blocked those sensors and stopped the door from working so look for that if there is an issue. If you have a power outage, you can easily click a lever to revert to opening or closing the garage door manually. If you need another remote or a replacement remote, you can program the new remote to work with your door, so you can have as many remotes as you want. The Genie screw drive garage door opener is by far the best door opener on the market. It is very easy to install and the directions and pictures certainly help in mistake proof easy assembly and installation. I found it to be very quiet and runs smoothly.  The 1-800 number was also a big help while I was programming my remote controllers.  I did have trouble getting mar car opener to operate. I called the help line and I was told how to program my car opener and we tried in vain to get it to work, but we were not successful though.  It seems that there is another type of remote needed to program the car remote and Genie did not supply one. I was not pleased to find that I would have to purchase this special remote, so I just decided to use the remote provided with the unit.  I still like the unit and I have had several family and friends comment on how quiet it runs during opening and closing. I would definitely recommend this product.
