We originally purchased a better GPS, but after it was stolen we decided it was best not to buy something that expensive again, so we went with this one, overall it does a decent job, already had it replaced under warranty because it randomly fried itself while we were on a trip. Processing Speed After turning it on it usually takes about 5 min to figure out where we are, a few times now we have had to turn it off and back on in order for it to actually work and pick up satellite signal, but once it starts working its fine, keeps up with everything. Map Quality & Accuracy The quality is decent, accurate enough for what we need it for. Ease of Use Easy to use so far! Easy to understand, find places and addresses you are looking for.

This is our 2nd Garmin Nuvi, so far we are loving it. We just needed something simple and easy to understand. The Garmin nüvi 1200's speaker directional instruction is Loud and clear. Garmin Nuvi 1200 is small and can just slip into the shirt pocket, has good text-to-speech function which is a upgrade from our previous model. It is easy to navigate through the menu, display is bright and clear enough. So far we have had great satellite performance, a little slow at startup for signal thou. I just have to enter the destination address and push the go button and there we go. So far we have travelled from Denver to Dallas with No Problems. We always know where we are and if we miss a turn or exit, it will redirect us back to our route in no time. And searching for Food or Petrol station is a button away as well. So we cannot go anywhere without it. We have even travelled to South East Asia with the Garmin, to the extend of taking a BUS with the Garmin Nuvi 1200. It is the best traveling device we have ever used!

This was my first GPS purchase, and I was very pleased.  Bought last year on Black Friday for a steal of a deal.  I was worried I wasn't buying high enough quality.  But I was wrong!  This GPS has so many wonderful features.  This is a must for any family vacation (read: no bickering in the car over maps!) and makes life in the car every day easier.  I love being out in an area I'm not familiar with and finding all kinds of back roads to get from here to there, thanks to my GPS.  The pedestrian option is a plus for traveling in cities.  My husband particularly loves the vast array of voice options.  On occasion, it takes a while for the satellite to connect and find me when I first turn it on.  But if I park and wait, it can find me 19 out of 20 times.  I love that you can set multiple locations all at once for running errands.  I love that I don't have to use the yellow pages to look up the number for the pizza place on the way home from work.  I love how precise the instructions are for making turns.   Overall, perfect purchase for my needs (travel, errands around town, loaning to family when they visit so they don't get lost in my town!).

I received this unit as a gift, and I've really enjoyed having it.  It's got nice features like "Find" where you can just type the name of the place and approximate location and it will find it for you and give you turn by turn directions from wherever you are. You can use it in pedestrian mode as a walking GPS device if you're planning to go on nature trails, or use it in automobile mode for everyday directions in your vehicle. Another fun feature is being able to change your "icon" from a vehicle or other fun characters, and you can also change the voice of the character giving you directions.  Currently I have an Australian accented man telling me how to get everywhere, just because I like the way he sounds. :-) The only real complaints I have are that: 1) It can be slow to start up or find the location you're looking for, and 2) it tends to lose signal easily.   I do not currently have a dash mount (I thought it would come with one, but it didn't), so it usually sits in my cup holder or on my passenger seat, and that's when I notice the signal being lost the most... which may be the cause, although, i feel it should still work regardless of where it is in the vehicle. Overall for the cost this is a very handy GPS unit and it's worth it.  However, I'd research other models to see if they are better with the 2 main problems of this unit.

I am not a techy person in any way, but I love having access to technical things.  I bought a GPS for my husband for his birthday, and he loves it.  I was very hesitate to buy one, thinking we could look up anything  or anywhere we needed to go on the intranet and print off the directions.  I feel like I know the city I live in fairly well and felt we had no need of one,  but my husband really wanted one, so I caved.  I cannot tell you how pleased I am that I bought it!  It is user friendly and very easy to use.  I love being able to look up the closest restaurant or where the closest pharmacy is.  There are so many functional aspects to it for almost anyone.  I also love that we can save locations, even if they are in the wilderness, and not on a common road.  I also love that I can change the voice.  I now feel like I need the GPS, and it has become part of my every day life.  What a fountain of knowledge it has!

The Garmin Nuvi 1200 is a perfect product for in car trips or walking trips, long trips or short trips.  I bought this product when I moved to San Diego and I haven't been lost yet.  I also use this product when I go walking and navigate new areas so that the scenery always changes.  This product is slim and lightweight.  It tells you the street names and can calculate a route that is more fuel-efficient for your car.  It also has a rechargeable battery so it will always be ready to go.  It also has a Where am I? feature which has come in handy many times for me.  This feature allows you to know your location and where and how to get to the nearest hospital, police station, and fuel stations.  This is a great thing to have because you never know what will happen or where you'll be when it does happen.  Also, you can download cityXplorer which can help you get around with city public transit.  This is a great product no matter if you are walking or driving or telling someone else how to get where they need to be.  And you get all this for a decent price, not a bad deal at all.
