As a vegan, I am always on the hunt for products that are not made out of or tested on animals. You would be surprised by how many makeup products contain crushed up bugs (carmine) or other items. I was really shocked to find this ingredient in my MAC powder. Gabriel cosmetics makes a great alternative that I just purchased for the third time in the last 90 days -- ZuZu Luxe Dual Powder Foundation.  Most of the ingredients are organic or at least natural and the staying power is really good. I put this on in the morning and need only a light touch-up in the late afternoon if I am going out for the evening. It does a decent job of combating shine if you are prone to that problem. I have used this product before being filmed or photographed and have been pleased with the outcome. The product is so gentle that I have not had any irritation or additional acne like I have experienced with some other products. There is virtually no scent and the container has a handy mirror that flips up underneath of the powder in case you are applying on the go. The only problem I have is finding the product -- it is frequently sold out at my local Whole Foods Market and if you buy online, you have to pay shipping! Ugh!
