This GE Dishwasher feels... cheap.
Let me just say I don't hate this dishwasher, but I don't like it either. It does what you'd expect, though it sometimes doesn't get certain dishes clean enough and leaves some dishes wet after it's done. It has a nice setup with plenty of space and racks, and a nifty basket area for silverware and utensils; and completes its cycles in a couple hours. As far as options, it has a handy steam option, as well as an anti-bacterial setting, among others. But despite that, it feels a bit cheap. It doesn't feel as sturdy as older dishwashers used to. When you pull the racks out or close the door, it seems way too light. And it's not the easiest to clean out extra gunk that might build up in the bottom of the unit over time. (We once had an issue with water backing up and running out of the bottom because of this.) It's a shame, because given the price of this machine, I feel we customers should get more for our money. Seems like it's another case of a company cutting down costs yet charging too much, so I would recommend another brand of dishwasher. Which one? I can't be sure! But I'm certain there are better options out there that don't cost so much yet deliver a good quality product.
