Worst Washer ever!

1

I have to say I hate this washer! I can't say it's the GE brand itself as much as it is the fact of it being a front loader! I wish I had never bought a front loader! If I had to do it again I would buy a top loader. You have to leave the door open and you have to dry out the seal after every use or else you get mold. Not only that if you don't load it right your clothes stink. If you don't leave the door open or clean it regularly you will have a stinky washer! When you do wash your clothes sure you can take your clothes right out and put in dryer or else they will stink. Also you have to clean out the drain filter every 2 weeks. They don't tell you everything when you buy a front loader!

great washer

5

I had not planned on buying a washer this year but when mine suddenly died this was the one chose. I purchased it online and it was delivered in 5 days not bad. The price is average for this type washer. It is my first time owning a front loader washer I really love it .My laundry takes less time to dry and everything seem softer. I really like all the different wash cycles and the dispenser for soap bleach and softner is great. I like the front loading on the GE washers as i am only five foot talle and always had to get on my toes to reach things in the bottom of the washer felt like i was going to fall in. Now i can just reach in and get everyghing . I have also noticed that my clothes seem to be cleaner and brighter.I know it uses a lot less water which is great since i have well water and my pump does not run as much as it use to.Its also nice being able to use liquid fabric softner just put it in and the washer does everything. update-- i really love this washer its been over a year Cleaning Time it does a great job Performance i really like the stain cycle has saved a lot of my grandsons clothes and husbands shirts Ease of Use being short its easier to get clothes in and out of Design love the front loader Durability no problems so far

Unless you like crinkled clothes - don't buy

1

I absoluely hate this washer. Clothes come out looking horrible - all crinkled. I never had this problem with my old Whirlpool agitator washer. I don't have time to iron everything I wash. You should have seen my 400 count cotton sheets - absolutely awful wrinkled mess. I've never had to iron sheets. Although this washer is in working order, it's going to the dump and I'm going back to the old type of washer.

I love the GE Front Loader

4

My husband and I bought this washing maching in 2007.  For the most part we really love it, I say for the most part because there ae a couple of things I would change.  First would be the dispensing cups, they are plenty big enough, but tend to get moldy if not taken out to dry or rinsed off after use.  I have also had the divider for the powder/liquid detergent compartment slip and then despense all of my liquid detergent as I am filling it up, this is not a huge deal as I just make sure it is in right before pouring.  My second "complaint" is that there is no "soak" option, just to add a prewash or an extra rinse ( which are both excellent  options which I have used many times).  I do realize that this is a front loading machine but, you should still be able to soak in it without having to turn it off.  I do like all of the options for washing and being able to set a "my cycle" for my favorite setting to save me time.  All in all I would probably purchase this again givin the chance.

Great washer

4

This is a very nice washer. I got the one for a regular sized load. The washer is the quietest washer I have ever had. It hardly move or vibrates as well. Also, since it is a front load, it is more energy efficient. The machine is very easy to adjust the settings and is very easy to use despite the controls being digital. I am used to the old analog controls. A wash takes about thirty minutes. You shouldn't have a mold problem as long as you wipe down and keep your door open when not in use as with any other front load washer. When I bought this, it was eligible for the cash for appliances program so I ended up getting a great deal on it. The washer is very easy to set up. Moving the door hinge to the other side was extremely easy and hassle free!

Great GE washer

5

Just purchased both the washer and dryer and like them very much. Bought this GE Front Load Washer to replace an old GE washer that wasn't working properly. Also got the matching dryer the same day. I was impressed with how quiet the machine is. I was also very impressed with how clean the clothes are, and how little water it needs. The clothes come out so clean and dry so it cuts back on the energy used to dry clothes. The total wash cycle is long, but that time is made up by how quickly the items dry due to the spin cycle of the washer. This has run well and cleans like it's supposed to. It also has so many bells and whistles for different kinds of garments. Love love love it! You can't go wrong with buying this product.

Room for improvement

4

I love my washing machine, and it is by far better than the top loads I've had in the past, but there are things that can be done to improve it. I think the first thing they should do is include the pedestals. We don't have room to stack our washer and dryer, so they are side by side. When you do this the door is VERY close to the floor. I have yet to do a load that half of it hasn't ended up on the floor. It's frustrating to have to bend down so low and then reach in to get all the clothes out. I'm also a little disappointed with the dispenser. If you use fabric softener it gets gunked up pretty quickly. The good side is that the whole tray pulls out for easy cleaning. I've use limeaway on it to get the hard water stains off of it and have had much success. I leave the door and the dispenser tray open after I'm done washing so that they can both dry in order to keep mold at bay. I don't think there is a sure fire way to keep mold from growing in a wet environment, so it's easier just to let it dry. I'm also a little disappointed with the bleach amount. We have extremely hard well water and all our whites turn yellow very quickly. There is no way to keep them white with this washer since there is no way to put a concentrated amount of bleach in with water and let it soak. I should have thought about that before I purchased this item.

Already to have the pump replaced twice. Wouldn't buy it again

3

We have had the GE front loader for less than 4 years now, and have had to replace the pump twice (EXPENSIVE) and the rubber gasket also had to be replaced due to the fact that it ripped.  It has worked great ever since the gasket was replaced with a newer one.  But, still a lot of head-aches over a washing machine.

Efficient and quite GE washer

4

My husband and I were looking for a washing machine which was efficient and was from a reliable company. So we could think of nothing else other than GE since all the other appliances that we have were from GE and worked superbly. We wanted a front loading Washing Machine with good capacity and which was energy star compliant. This particular model fitted our need the best. It was'nt fancy like the newer models but it matched our budget and had a simple decent outer design. I love the different cycle settings that it has. It has the mixed loads setting which is perfect for colored everyday clothes. I also use the rinse and spin feature when i want something washed in a hurry. You can also adjust the soil level, spin speed and the wash temperature as u need. The standard temperature setting is mostly for cold water which is not so harsh on the clothes and is also energy efficient. The best feature is that it is very quite and does not vibrate as much compared to the washing machines you used to get earlier. I must say this is the best and most efficient Washer I have ever owned.
