An Easy Way To Track Your Miles

4

Having owned a FitBit One I knew that I needed something I could wear on my wrist to give me a more accurate reading of steps taken, miles walked and calories burned. The FitBit One is a clip on style activity reader, the FitBit Flex is worn on the wrist and allows for a much easier to read display. Since I am a bilateral amputee my gait (width and length of my steps) varies; I couldn't get an accurate reading with the FitBit One so I started asking my friends about the Flex version. I am so glad that I decided to give it a try because it is a lot more accurate than the clip on version (FitBit One). This doesn't make my wrist sweat when I am on the treadmill, walking outside or doing a Step / platform workout. The screen is small but it is easy to read; there's no glare to it but if you wear glasses or contacts the numbers can be hard to see if you are trying to read the screen when you are in the middle of a workout. If I had to grade this on a scale from one to ten it would be a solid eight; there is room for improvement but it isn't something that is going to fall apart or break even if you are a total gym rat.

Stepped It UP!!!

4

I am a fitness instructor and spend almost 2 hours a day working out in addition to personal training clients and teaching Pilates equipment classes and privates. Our club ran a 10,000 step a day challenge and many of my clients signed up so as their fearless leader, I got the pink Breast Cancer Fitbit (good for me, good for breast cancer research) and was astonished at how many steps a day I take including my workout. The wristband version does not give a number read out, but a free app for your phone will record all the data. Sometimes there is a time lapse - it can look like you were walking in your sleep. I detest that you lose all of your data if you should need to purchase a new Fitbit - see below. You do need to recharge the battery every 3-4 days (if you are wearing it daily and checking your numbers) and I don't recommend wearing it in the shower or while swimming though it claims to be water resistant. It comes with 2 bands in different lengths which should accommodate most people. It snaps on with a decent amount of security. It does discolor with continued use and sun exposure. I have had 3 different Fitbit Wireless Flex watches since April 2014. Why? In July, the band snapped off somewhere in Manhattan. I emailed Fitbit and they could see that all activity ceased at about the time I had stated. They replaced it for me. Amazing customer service. In October the battery decided it only wanted to display alternating light patterns. It appeared to be in sleep mode, but it wasn't monitoring either sleep or activity. Again, Fitbit replaced it for me. Two weeks into wearing the new one, the battery started doing the dancing light show again. This time I got on the Facebook page and found the very savvy suggestion to just smack it as hard as you could and it would reset. Yes, it worked. There is also supposed to be a reset button on the battery that you can use and then put it into the charging cable. The step count isn't perfect, the calorie count may be inflated and the mileage seems to be a little off, but it can motivate you to get moving and keep moving.

An excellent tool to keep you motivated

I was struggling with my motivation to work out and get moving. I heard about Fit Bit and had to try it. I'm a competitive person, and Fit Bit is great for those with a competitive spirit. You can basically "compete" against yourself to get a certain number of steps and activity minutes in every day. You can also add friends and track your activity levels against theirs as a fun way to add to the competitive portion. This partiular model comes with a small and large black band. You insert the tracking portion into the unit and it tracks your activity all day long. If you install the Fit Bit app on your phone, if will automatically sync your activity to the app. You can also do this by plugging into your computer. The band is small and fairly sylish so it doesn't stand out while wearing it. I do wish the large band was slightly larger. I wear the large which barely big enough for my wrist. I would have thought that a product designed for those losing weight would have had larger sizes available. Overall, I am very happy with this product and I'm pleased to report that it is helping me stay motivated and on track with my fitness goals.

Motivates me to WALK!!

5

I absolutely LOVE my Fitbit Flex! It has truly motivated me to walk, walk, walk! I try to hit the 10,000 mark everyday. When I do, my Flex vibrates on my arm to let me know. For some reason, that feeling makes me feel like I have accomplished something! I like the stylish bracelet/wristband. It comes in many colors. Additional bands can be purchased thru the Fitbit Website. I currently have black, orange, dark blue, light blue, florescent green, red and my newest addition is Hot Pink (for Breast Cancer Awareness). I also like that the entire band, and tracker are 100% waterproof. I put it on, and don't worry about it getting wet while in the shower, swimming, doing housework, etc. I think if I had to take it off every time my hands got wet, I would certainly loose it, or forget to put it back on! I have it synced to my computer, and can check in anytime to see how many steps I have taken, or to even log the food I have eaten for the day. I have quite a few friends who also have the Fitbit Flex, and we seem to compete to get to the top (be the most active). It's really a lot of fun! It keeps me connected with friends who live out of state. We can jab each other, & eave motivating notes for each other on the website. I have tried many other types of pedometers, but I feel like this is the only one I have continued to look forward to putting on everyday. It is lightweight, very accurate, and I love how easy it is to keep track of my steps. Another great feature of it is that it will track your sleep at night. I rarely do this, because I have learned (from the Fitbit) that I am an incredibly restless sleeper. The tracker will tell you when you fall asleep, how many times you wake up, and how many hours you slept. If you are considering purchasing a Fitbit Flex, this is the one to get. It is so easy to use, and will really keep you motivated to reach your daily goal!

FitBit Flex - very motivating!

5

I purchased the FitBit about 2 weeks ago and I love it! Usually I log by food when I get home from work. I check my Dashboard and the decision to get off the couch and workout becomes a "no brainer". If I see that I only need a few hundred steps to hit the next "thousand", I start moving. I find this product easy to use and very motivating!

Great concept, still buggy

I received a FitBit Flex toward the end of October. It started off--like most relationships--beautifully. I loved the ease and reliability of the activity measurement. The Web interface is clean, concise, and easy-to-use. But now, six weeks later, the varnish is starting to wear and the warts are beginning to show through. There is no notification on the Flex itself to notify you of a low battery. Yes, I check when I sync in the morning and at night via the mobile app/Web site. Yes, I am signed up for email alerts when it has been low on power for more than two hours. But that isn't always reliable. For example, yesterday, my Flex showed about a 50% charge at 10 a.m. By noon, I discovered my Flex had totally died. No warnings, no notices, no emails, nada. Got home, charged it overnight, and am gonna see how long it lasts. (FitBit claims it will last up to five days, but lately, that seems to be two days too long.) The company has the right idea with this piece of wearable tech. I just think the battery is the weak link in the system right now.

Never lose this pedometer; plus wear it on your ankle!

4

I have lost a couple dozen pedometers over the years. This one it great, because it's a wristband! Actually, I even turned my wristband into an anklet. I don't use my arms when I walk, as I am usually caring things. I just fasten this on my ankle, and it keeps perfect track! The reason I didn't give this pedometer a higher rating, is because I like to see precisely how many steps I have taken. This keeps track in 2,000 increments. However, it is innovative, in that you just turn on your computer, sync it, and there is no wiggle room. It is right there for all your friends to see, if they have one too. Several people in our office has them, and you can use any of the styles, even the hip ones, and still compare your steps, stairs, etc. with others. It's the best pedometer I have had, yet, and I have had about 3 dozen. Plus, you don't have to keep buying batteries for it!

More than just a pedometer

4

This is more than a pedometer. It monitors calories and sleep as well. There is an app that goes with it and it syncs with computer and with smart phone. It monitors sleep so that it can wake you at the time where you will be most refreshed. There are no wires. The band is comfy and the band can be chgd for different colors. Definitely worth the money - will help you track your progress!

Overall, one of the best fitness/sleep tracker out there. I body build so i am at the gym every day and Im always looking to track how many calories I'm burning or how many steps im walking. This also helps let me know how much sleep i've gotten which is phenomenal. Great value for your money and does just as much as a nike fuelband for less than half the price. It's helped me really step up my game.
