My babies loved this Fisher Price Select a Show Soother.

I received this lovely toy at my baby shower and fell in love with it. It comes with three different slides that project onto the wall or ceiling. It is very amusing for both the baby and the parent. It also plays several different songs or if you do not like soothing music you can listen to really cool nature sounds that babies love too. Overall it is a great toy My baby truly enjoyed it.

Nice product--hate that there is a screw for the battery compartment-it is small and hard to handle-but nice overall. Colorful and bright for baby. Stimulating and soothing--nice for car travel as well.Would be a nice gift for a baby shower or for a new baby.

My 2 month old grandson loves it.

This toy is a visual skills toy, that also plays lullabies, classical music or nature sounds.  It beams images from a simple slide onto the wall or ceiling such as a heart shape, smiling face and a checkerboard  for birth to 3 months.  It has another slide for 3-6months and 6 months up that corresponds with the babys' development.  My grandson watches the light show as the music plays softly, then falls asleep. It's easy to use and doesn't take up alot of room. You can adjust the loudness of the different music or not even play it at all. It runs on four C batteries. It is very basic but  it does what I wanted, that is helping my grandson fall asleep.

Sooo Sooothing.....

When I saw this I had to have it! A light show! For my very own baby! Amazing! Well, it wasn't that cool, but it did work. It has three settings, music, music and lights, and lights only. Since we have high ceilings, the light show just barely showed up unfortunately. So we only used it for the music. There are three different music settings, and the nature sounds is the best. We actually used this at night for quite a long time to put our daughter (and ourselves through the monitor), to sleep. The batteries last a very long time, and the kids still love putting on their shows using the lights show as part of their act. It also comes with three little slides for different light shows. The one that showed the best was the stars, clouds, and moon number 3. The other ones were a lot harder to see. I wasn't disappointed in this purchase per se, but I'd think long and hard about getting it again. The kids have fun playing with it, but to use for it's intented purpose there are probably better products out there.

Not that great of a soother!

I bought this for my first born to encourage him to fall asleep on his own, but it did not help at all. The concept sounds and looks great but the execution of this toy is very poor. First and foremost, the projection images are not clear at all. you have to arrange and rearrange multipe times but it still does not help. As a result the babies do not focus on the images at all. The music is good and a great variety, but sometimes the lights from the images are too bright. The room needs to be too dark in order to actually be able to see the images . There are three plates to change the images but two of them are useless since the images overlap and it looks like a big mess. The positive is that there is nothing to install except batteries and can be carried form one room to another. there is also a lot of selection on timing as well as music. But the main part of the images does not work. Hence this product gets my thumbs down!

Wonderful take along music box--one of those must haves

The Fisher Price Select a Show Soother is a wonderful music box that projects a mini light show on your ceiling.  I have two young children and they loved this music box from the time they were infants until preschool.  It's great in that it's small and can be brought into any room, and can easliy be packed in a bag for travel--allowing you to bring a little bit of your soothing bedtime routine to any hotel room.  The songs are soft and soothing and you can select from three different light shows, large images for when they are really young down to stars and moon images for when they get older.   There is even a timer you can set to have to music and light show turn off automatically.  My only complaint about this music box is that the room has to be pretty dark before the light images show up on the screen.   I would highly recommend this product to any new mom -- it's inexpensive and soothing.

my boys loved it

The Fisher price Select a show soother I think is great for any newborn up to a yr old. I don't know why some people would give negitive feed back on the little slide pictures and say they are boring. Maybe to an adult, but not to a baby. It has pictures for 3 different age catagories. You can just use it for the music as well. It is a good durable long lasting product. I used the fisher-price select a show soother for my newborn infants, It seemed to soother them right to sleep. It is very colorful the boys would love playing with it as a toy once they got big enough to hold onto things. The best part I think about it as well is that it is portable. There were a few times we had to leave out of town to go back to our home town and visit with family. So when we would stay in a hotel or someone elses house is was easy to pack along with us, At the same time it didn't take up to much space in a suitcase. or diaper bag. Now that my boys have outgrown it, I have passed it on to my niece and she loves it for her daughter. Thanks Fisher-Price for making the Select a show soother.

Fisher Price Select a Soother is great for music

My son's aunt gave this to him when he was a baby. I had never heard of it, but was excited to try it with him because he was a fussy baby and had a hard time getting himself to sleep. There is a light projection where you can insert a disk depending on the age and development of the baby.  I tried using the light projection on it when it was darker in his room, but mostly he didn't care about it. So we just used the music part of the toy. The different types of music you can play on here is really great. I like that you can choose more nature like sounds or classical music or lullaby sounds, depending on your mood or the child. I also really like the timer feature where you can choose for the music to go for 5, 10, or 15 minutes. I almost always used the 15 minutes timer because the others were too short and my baby would not be asleep before it ended.  The other great part about it is that it is small and you can take it in the car with you when you go on trips to help soothe your baby. I don't like how the projection disks always fall out, there needs to be a better way to store them.

Select a show is great for toddlers

My daughter uses this for naps and nighttime. It has 3 time settings, 3 changing scenes, and I think 3 different sets of "music". We love having something to sooth her at night, and we both love looking up at the pictures on her ceiling.

FP Select-a-Show Soother - Like the music, skip the projector.

We received the Fisher Price Select-a-Show Soother as a gift.  We hadn't registered for it and wasn't sure if we needed it.  I contemplated returning it, but Hubby thought we should give it a shot.  We didn't get it out of the box until our daughter was about 4 months old.  By that point she was already ready for the 3rd disk.  I really like the tunes.  It's nice that it has the options to run just the music, just the projection, or both, and it's great that it has 3 volume settings.  You can also program it to play 5, 10, or 15 minutes.  We always use the 15 minutes.  Hubby usually puts the projections on by I don't.  I find the images a bit distorted and blurry.  There really isn't a good place in her room to place the unit to prevent this.  We have to put the it on a table next to the crib and angle the projection over the crib.  The soother tilts, but only to one side.  Because it only tilts to the left, we have to have the front of the unit with the speaker facing the drapes, because her crib is to the right of the table.  My only idea would be to mount a shelf on the wall directly behind the crib so the soother was closer to the ceiling and there was no projection angle.  Then it could also face forward so the sound could project into the room.  The only issue with mounting a shelf is that the soother would be possibly too close to the wall for the projection to work well - unless you had a deep enough shelf.  I haven't gone to this measure because the projections honestly doesn't seem to interest our daughter much, and in my opinion may keep her awake longer because it's a distraction.  I keep it around because I play the music for her before each of her naps and before bed, for sake of routine.  The music does seem to help put her to sleep so.  It is very portable too, so whenever she spends the night at the grandparent's house, there is some familiarity.
