Breaks easily.

I picked up the Farberware Pro Can Opener because it seemed to be very sturdy in comparison to other can openers. I don't use a can opener very often so I wasn't looking for anything fancy. This is a horrible quality can opener. It broke after about 5 uses! The Farberware Pro Can Opener looked fine and felt sturdy, it had soft grips on the handle. It worked great worked when I used it. It opened cans easily. It worked great the whole 5 times it worked anyway... The fifth time I went to use it the part with the teeth that open the can popped off. It just fell apart out of nowhere. I wasn't using it roughly or anything, just all the sudden it popped apart and pieces fell on my counter. My boyfriend tried to put it back together but it just wasn't happening. After the incident I went online and looked at reviews of the can opener [I didn't look on viewpoints because I was unfamiliar with the website at the time!] and it seems like a TON of people had the same problem, the can opener just breaking out of no where. I NOT buy this can opener. It breaks quickly and for no apparent reason.

Not worth the money

I bought this can opener expecting it to work pretty good. To begin with, it's not very comfortable to use because it's big and heavy. The blade really didn't seem very sharp either because I struggled to get cans open. After about a week, it refused to work anymore. I went out and bought a cheaper can open and it has worked great for over a year now. I would never buy another farberware one.

Farberware manual pro can opener

For the person that like to open cans manually like me. Very easy to turn even with big cans. It saves on electricity and cleans much easier than a typical electric opener. It's muck better than the old manual openers as well as I used to get sore hands from using them. not this o.e. Ease of Cleaning This is one of the most important reasons I use this. It's very easy to clean. My old electric was a nightmare cleaning the cutting roller roller and having to detach the opener from under the counter. With this guy, just a wet soapy dish cloth and you can soak it first to make it easier. It's best to clean right after using before food gets hard and sticks. Durability I have used it for quite some time and it still works as good as the day I bought it. it looks to be built very durable and I expect to have it around for many years to come. Design It fits my hands perfectly. It takes very little effort to open a can. The best part is there is very little that can go wrong with this. For as long as I've used this, it works perfectly.

Farberware Pro Can Opener

5

I purchased the Farberware Pro Can Opener about 12 months ago now. This was more expensive than the basic brand I usually go for so I was expecting a good guality and more or less, I think it is a good quality. I have other items from Farberware which are superb quality. I like the fact that the handle is quite wide enabling a less painful experience on using as some cans can be more difficult to open. It seems to clench onto the can nicely and doesn't release until I release the levers. 9 out of 10 times it totally cuts the lid off and on the odd occasion it doesn't, it usually snaps off by itself as I pull the lid back. The handles are easy to grip and the device is easy to clean - I just rinse it off. It cuts on the inside of the can rather than outside which is good for eliminating sharp edges. There has never been any slippage with this brand of can opener and so all things considered, I would thoroughly recommend it.

Great Can Opener!

The Farberware Pro Can opener has been one of my best purchases that hes kept my kitchen life frustration free! well, mostly.lol I had gone through so many hand operated can openers just to have them break in to pieces! I think i went through about 8 in one year and didn't want to buy a big one that took up space. So i finally decided to give a hand held one more shot and bought the Farberware Pro can opener and piece of mind was restored! It has never failed me. I know its just a can opener but when you cook daily you know how important it is to have your kitchen devices work! S thumbs up to Farberware pro can opener! Ease of Cleaning Very easy to keep clean. Never had to scrub it or anything. Comes clean very easily Durability Awesome durability. Have had mine for 3 years now and it hasn't failed me yet. Thats good for a hand held can opener. Design Its just a simple can opener but it works great so no flaws there!

It broke

When I purchased the Farberware Pro can opener I thought I had solved a problem. I assumed that since it was sturdier that it would hold up longer than the cheaper regular stainless steal can openers. I was wrong. The Farberware Pro can opener was a problem from the beginning. I had a hard time keeping it in place when trying to open a can. I slipped off and often would not complete opening a can. It finally broke and I went back to the old fashiioned can opener I had used before. Time went by and I decided to tray Farberware Pro can opener again. I thoought maybe that one was defected. And once again this can opener started out working pretty well. Then after a few cans I had trouble keeping it in position and I am thinking like Tigger from Winnie the Pooh, "Say haven't i I have bounced this way before"? A few years went by and I needed a new can opener and I tried a third Farberware Pro and I guess the third time is the charm. When this one broke I decided I am done with this brand.

Bon can opener

Farberware Manual can opener - Openers are a thing in our house that we are experiencing may be a little more than the average person, if we do not spend much money on a can opener. However, we have standards for our opener. For example, if we experience intense physical pain or the risk of our fingers to open a box, it's not worth it. We also do not tolerate open terribly complicated, but it is quite another matter. Anyway, the opener was good, especially since this is not a fantasy, as-seen-on-TV gimmick expensive. It's just a ordinary device. It is not painful on the hands to use and has served us well. Now that it's getting up more ancient, it is more difficult boxes with an opening time. Not because it gets boring, though. We use a lot of cans damaged, if this opening is a lot of abuse. He gets a lot of points to open the boxes that are completely crushed boxes in places and being beaten by teenagers. An annoyance I have always had with her, but (It is similar with just about any opener ever) is that when you get into the point of departure, it does not clean cut finishes. It often leaves a bit of tape holding the cover, which is then often a wrestling match to break so I can get the cover. I guess that's what I hate most canned foods ...

This Farberware can opener is good for its price

We've had this can opener about 3 or 4 years now I guess. Can openers are one thing in our house that we go through perhaps a little more than average people, so we don't like to spend big bucks on a can opener. However, we do have standards for our can opener. For example, if we experience intense physical pain or have to risk our fingers in order to open a can, it's not worth it. We also don't tolerate terribly complicated openers, but that's an entirely different subject. Anyway, this can opener has been good, especially considering that it's no fancy, as-seen-on-TV expensive gimmick. It's just a plain ol can opener. (gotta love it). It's not painful on the hands to use and has served us well. Now that it's getting up there in years, so to speak, it is having a harder time opening cans. Not because it's getting dull, though. See, we use a lot of damaged cans, so this opener takes a lot of abuse. It gets lots of points for opening cans that are completely crushed in places and being beat on by teenage boys. One pet peeve I have always had with it, though (which I've experienced with pretty much every can opener ever) is that when you get back around to the initial starting point, it doesn't make a clean finishing cut. It often leaves a little sliver still holding the lid on, which is then oftentimes a wrestling match to break so that I can get the lid off. I guess that's what I hate 2nd most about canned foods...

This handheld Farberware can opener isn't worth a tinker's darn!

1

I bought this deep red, chunky, Farberware handheld can-opener to have a spare in my drawer in case my electric one failed. It did and I've tried this one multiple times over the last few days. It is absolutely not worth a tinker's darn! It's like the teeth in the bottom and top wheels don't meet enough for the bottom which is turned by the handle to turn the top. All I can use it for is to open and close it around the edge of the can until I get enough of it open to pry the lid off with a knife. I am VERY disappointed!

Works well, comfortable to grip.... until it breaks.

At first glance, the Farberware manual can opener seems like a good deal.  It's inexpensive and comes from a brand that makes a lot of reputable kitchen products.  The can opener works smoothly and cuts easily through cans large or small. The blade is rust-resistant, and the can opener itself looks nice, with shiny stainless steel complemented by a large black plastic handle and blade turner.  The handle is comfortable to grip and the blade turner won't hurt your fingers to turn.  So what's the problem?  It won't last long enough for you to really enjoy its use.  I had my Farberware can opener for just about one year when suddenly the blade turner cracked and popped off its shaft.  It did this while I was opening a can, and needless to say it would no longer work.  Without the mechanism that turns the blade, you simply can't open a can.  Gluing it together doesn't help either, as the pressure from turning the blade will just pop the handle off again.
