This Little Vac Really Suprised Me

5

I bought my Mighty Mite (but the Pet model) just to vacuum pet hair from my Lab mix between regular cleanings. I was really surprised at the power this little vac has. I now use it for my regular cleaning in my bedrooms, which all have hardwood floors with a few throw carpets. I would definitely recommend this. It even does a great job on the throw rugs. I now use it regularly for all my upstairs cleaning. Maneuverability This is small in size, so maneuverabillity really isn't a problem. It has wheels so it is easy to pull around. Suction Performance I was amazed at the amount of suction. Durability My only complaint is the hose that comes with this vac is lightweight and cheap. I read that in reviews before buying it, and should it split, I will simply duct tape the hose, so I don't see this as a big drawback. The little moveable cover than you can use to adjust suction also moves too easily and is in a spot that it gets moved inadvertently while cleaning. I solved this with duct tape also. Since I never have a need for less suction, I just taped it closed.

Handy for pet hair on baseboards, but fairly useless on carpet.

I purchased this item during a bedbug scare...the little critters had been reported in my condo building. It turns out that it was a false alarm by someone who misidentified a harmless bug. But since the vacuum was already here and I liked the lightweight feel of it, I decided to keep it. That's the best thing to recommend this vacuum. It's really lightweight and easy to lug around. It rolls easily on carpet, tile, and wood. I'm not worried about it scratching my floors and the hose is sturdy enough to drag the cannister along behind it. I also like that it has a HEPA filter. It does seem to cut down quite a bit on the residual dust from vacuuming and I've noticed that this vacuum doesn't kick up dog smell like some do, which I attribute to the filter. What I dislike about this vacuum is its performance on carpet. It comes with several attachments, including a crevice tool, a special pet hair scraper thing, and a flat head for carpet. This will pick up maybe the top layer of debris from my carpet (I have wood floors, so we're talking area rugs of various size and thickness) but it basically doesn't capture any dog hair at all and running it over an area multiple times or holding it in place doesn't really help. It simply is not strong enough to pick up dog hair trapped in carpets. It is possible that part of the problem is I'm trying to capture the fairly bristly hair of an Australian Cattle Dog. But I also have a mutt with shorter, lightweight fur, and it doesn't really pick up her hair from carpet either. The vacuum works great on wood floors and is particularly awesome for cleaning up hair that collects around baseboards and under furniture. That makes it worth it for me, but I'd prefer to have a bagged vacuum that could do the whole cleaning job rather than switching to my heavy-duty upright for carpets.
