This shampoo seems to be worth the cost, in my opinion. It works well and effectively, and it is certainly less expensive than some of the equivalent alternatives with brand names. Combining its effectiveness with its relatively low cost makes it a worthwhile deal to look into. Effectiveness As far as simple washing of the hair, this shampoo is very affective at removing dirt, grease, and oil from the hair. On the medicated and dandruff side, it seems to be effective at removing and preventing dandruff. For me personally, I have not had dandruff problems while using this product. But of course, results can vary from person to person, so it may not be for everyone. Scent This shampoo is not a scented shampoo, which is a good thing in my opinion. Often scented shampoos are too strong and overwhelming, making them unpleasant to smell. This particular unscented shampoo leaves a fresh, clean scent that is pleasant while not overwhelming.

I do not have a problem with dandruff but my scalp itches a lot. My scalp itches when I get hot. I can not stand for that to happen. It is embarrassing to scratch your head in public so I just suffer,at least until I discovered Equate medicated dandruff shampoo. I have tried Selsun Blue in the past and it worked very well, but I could not afford it.Then I discovered that Equate Medicated Dandruff Shampoo had the same active ingredient as Selsun Blue, which was Selenium Sulfide 1%.So I tried the Equate brand and it worked. Equate Medicated Dandruff Shampoo makes my head "tingle' when I apply it. That really feals good.I simply wet my hair,and lather up with Equate Medicated Dandruff Shampoo. I then allow the lather to stay on my scalp for a while. About 2-3 minutes. It then tingles. That makes me feel like it is working. I then rinse thoroughly. It still itches sometimes but not as much. I do not expect this Dandruff Shampoo to stop the scalp itching completely, however it does stop it a lot. I do recommend Equate Medicated Dandruff Shampoo for itchy scalp,however I only gave it four stars because I could not recommend it for Dandruff!
