Does a great job on laminate floors--great on cat litter.
This was first Dirt Devil I've had. It beats a bunch of previous uprights all hollow! Wonderful suction, even on clumping cat litter that the cats have scattered, which none of the uprights I've used (Bissel, Kirby, Hoover, Singer) have been able to do successfully. Plus is the canister is easy to dump out, cord retracts nicely, the thing is light, maneuvering easily. ONLY downside it that it isn't so great on carpet, but my house has 1 area rug and 1 carpeted room. So I'm very happy with this vac. Maneuverability It's not heavy, so can easily be picked up, moves well on laminate floors, not so great on deep pile carpet but handled the area rug reasonably well. Ease of Maintenance Haven't had to deal with the filter, but I like that it is washable and therefore I won't have to purchase filters constantly. Canister is of course small, but even with the whole house vacuumed, it wasn't full. Easy to empty, too. Suction Performance I didn't expect anything because my current upright (Bissel) is rotten about suction,, but this Devil was surprisingly powerful. I was very pleasantly delighted to see clumps of hair, cat litter, even stems of hay, went right up without me having to "feed" the thing by hand. Versatility Again, this machine is not so hot on deep pile carpet, but on laminate it can't be beat, it's easy to remove the floor head so you can reach crevices or tiny spaces. Design The only thing I'd change about this machine (other than better carpet performance) is to lengthen the cord some, but that's certainly not an annoyance, more of a wish. Durability It's brand new, ask me in a year or two!
