I have children ranging different ages, I have a 6 year old, 9 year old and a 14 year old. So you already know there's always a cold lingering in my house.Usually the biggest challenge I have always had with cold & cough medicines is that they have a very nasty taste and my kids really don't want to drink it. But with Children's Dimetapp cold & cough I don't have that problem. It has a grape taste and it also doesn't have no nasty after taste. So my kids have no problem taking Children's Dimetapp cough & cold when they're sick. The other thing I love about Children's Dimetapp is that it relieves cold symptoms very quickly and suppresses the cough. Not only do I use it for my kids, I like using it for myself as well when I have a cold, stuffy nose and just under the weather. I wish my parents knew about Children's Dimetapp when I was growing up. I would recommend everyone to try Children's Dimetapp for their kids. It's the best!

We live where is it really cold in the winter time and it always seems like my kids come home with a cough. I've tried childrens robitussin for them and it doesn't seem to work at all. They continue to cough after I give it to them and then I have to wait hours before I can give them more. Once I found Dimetapp children's cold and allergy it works almost immediately and lasts all day.

I know this medication says "Children's" but I use it as an adult. This is the medication my mom used to give me as a child when I had a bad cold so I trust it now that I am an adult. It makes my sinuses feel better and helps me beat the common cold symptoms. Dimetapp is a brand I trust because I have been using it since I was a child. It is a trusted brand to use for kids with colds and I plan to give it to my children one day when the become ill. It also has a decent flavor. Some cold/flu medications taste horribly and are tough to swallow. As a kid, you don't want to have to take them and I remember being quite upset when I was sick because I didn't want to have to take the bad tasting medicine. The taste of this medicine is grape. I still take it as an adult because the taste isn't bad and it gets the job done. I recommend this product to parents who have kids with colds. Make sure your child doesn't mind the grape flavor though before. They have other flavors too but grape is the one I buy when I have a cold.

In 1978 my doctor prescribed prescription Dimetapp pills. In 1988 when my daughter was ill her pediatrition gave her Dimetapp liquid which was now over the counter. My family has used Dimetapp faithfully since that time. IIn 1994 my youngets son loved the taste so much he drank a half bottle. I called poision control and had to buy that stuff that makes you throw up. I cried like a baby but it worked and the only side effect was that myson acted high from the Dimetapp. He neve did fall asleep. The antihistimine in Dimetapp works very well. It relieves othy watery eyes .And it makes myhusband drowsy which is good. That way he will rest and the medication will do it's job. The decongestant in dimetapp works for a;l my family except mke. I have had sinus problems for years and it takes prescription strength decongestants for me. We have trie store brandswith the same ingredients as Dimetapp. And maybe it is our imagination but they do not seem to work as well. they definately do not taste as good. I like the grape flavor.

First of all, I am not a child and I still take this medicine. Mainly because it tastes so great, lol! (No I don't abuse it!) haha, but it works pretty well for me, being an adult. I take a bit more than the reccomended dosage BECAUSE I am an adult and would require more, but it works well and tastes great. If I DID have a child, I would definitely give them this medicine because they definitely would NOT fuss about having to take it! :)

I am a family nurse practitioner in a busy family clinic. Most of what I see has a lot to do with cough and cold and finding ways to relieve this. I do not think that this works well for cough.. but it works EXCELLENTLY for cold symptoms. I do not feel that this medication makes children excessively drowsy. This is great symptom relief medication. The grape flavor is comparable to kool aid, kids drink it without hesitation. Getting medication beyond the lips, teeth, and tongue is often a real battle. Getting kids to take this medication is one battle you won't have to fight. This medication is cheap. I have not yet had a parent say that they could not afford this. I think that if you buy this medication you will be very pleased with many aspects of this medication. I suggest keeping this WAY out of the childs reach. It tastes so good that I would worry about some youngsters drinking it for a flavorful treat. Good luck and I hope that my opinion helps!!

My son and daughter, ages 3 and 1 at the time, suffered many ear infections spanning the course of about 5 months.  I was constantly bringing them to the doctor, and the pediatrician kept prescribing antibiotics.  But they kept getting ear infections!  Then I came down with an ear infection.  I went to the drug store in town and talked to the pharmacist and explained that I knew I had an ear infection, with the pain going down my neck.  He said the tube that helps drain my ear was plugged and to take Dimetapp Cold and Allergy, as it would help open up that tube and drain my ear, thus getting rid of the infection.  I was willing to try anything, as I didn't trust the doctor any more since the ear infections in my kids kept returning.  I was AMAZED to find that after 24 hours, I felt much better.  I kept taking it for about three days to make sure it was cleared up.  Now I give that to my kids when I see them tugging at their ears.   They have not seen a doctor for an ear infection since then, and that was 4 years ago! I am not a doctor myself, so if your child is suffering from countless ear infections, I would ask your doctor or pharmacist about this!  It worked for us, and I continue to use this remedy with my children.  The bottle of Dimetapp Cold and Allergy is cheaper than a doctor visit :o)  My kids love the flavor, also.  It is never hard to get them to take this medicine.

It's hard to know what over-the-counter medicine to use for your child when he has a stubborn cold and is also subject to seasonal allergies during the spring.  When choosing Children's Dimetapp for cold & allergy, you know you're choosing a well known name and that alone gives you confidence in its performance.  The medicine has a good tasting grape flavor which makes it a win-win situation in having the child take it.
