I love my Dell laptop!

5

I've had my Dell inspiron laptop for almost seven years. As a novelist/essayist/playwright/book editor, I am on it ALL the time. It's never given me issues. I absolutely love the size of the screen, although I will admit it is really difficult to find a stylish laptop bag to carry it in (most are meant for 15-inch laptops). The screen quality is great. It's easy to use. It has a full-size keyboard with a ten-key pad which I love. It's still as fast as ever. I recommend it anytime someone mentions that they need a new laptop or computer. I'm very satisfied and when it comes time to replace it, I will most definitely be going with another Dell.

This computer is one of the best you can get, why? because its easy to travel with and take I anywhere you wants. I got one of the laptop last year, its just makes the difference for me. Dell's computers are amazing how its works. So give it an try and see for yourself what I'm talkig about.

Excellent laptop for the price!

After an extremely long delay in receiving my laptop (ordered in July didn't receive until September!), I have to say that I absolutely love this machine. It's beautiful and sleek and cannot stress how happy I am with it. The entire unit is just so nice and shiny and even though it has Vista (instead of XP), the Vista shortcomings are minor to the overall performance of this laptop. I do all my work on this laptop and a lot of photo sharing, etc, and have not had any problems. I've even recommended it to a friend and she is loving her laptop as much as I love mine (she purchased the same model, just a different color).

My Dell Inspiron 1721 laptop does everything I need it do & well

5

This is a good laptop for the money.  My Dell Inspiron 1721 does everything I need it to do.  I use my Dell for my personal use and I find that it meets my requirements.  I take my Dell laptop with me when I travel and  it has performed very well.  I did not experience any of the problems some of the other reviewers have had.   I did have a couple of minor issues and had to call tech support, and I agree that Dell's tech support is not that great--mainly because I have difficulty understanding and making myself understood to someone who is not American and who is not as fluent in English as they need to be.  But I requested to be transferred to tech support in the United States, and I was,  and my minor issues were cleared up instantly.  My only issue with my Dell is that I use a  larger screen on my home pc, and I find the 17 inch somewhat small.  However, if my Dell had a larger screen, it would be heavier and harder to carry.  This was my first purchase of any Dell product.  Everything taken into consideration, I am very happy with my Dell Inspiron and I would consider purchasing another if and when it becomes necessary.  I have recommended Dell Inspiron to friends and family members.

I've owned a couple PCs and used many PCs and laptops at work, and this is my first home-owned laptop.  I love this laptop! Mine is the pink variety, and I love the color and the finish - it's scratch and stain resistant and keeps its beauty intact.  I bought it shortly after this model was introduced, and have been thrilled with it the whole 1.5 years I've had it so far.  The keyboard/mousepad combination are comfortable to use, the hinge is quite sturdy, and the 17-inch screen is awesome!  Overall its performance has been excellent (fast, responsive), and I have no complaints there at all. My only minor complaint is that it takes 2 hands to lift up the top to open it, but that's not a big deal, really.  If that means giving me the strong hinge that will keep the screen at exactly the angle I want no matter where I put it, then it's worth it.  I have on occasion noticed the amount of heat escaping the outlet on the left, but I do tend to be on it for hours at a time, so that doesn't seem to be unusual, and it's getting all the ventilation it could possibly want.  I'm not concerned about its weight as I don't plan to carry it around, so I don't remember what it weighs.

A great laptop - when it works

I bought the Dell Inspirion 1721very excited about transitioning to a laptop from a desktop, and the size of this one (17") makes that transition very easy. I'm not a huge fan of Vista, but I can deal. It runs pretty fast and doesn't give me too many problems or hangups. The problem is really with Dell's shoddy workmanship. In the first 6 months, Dell had to replace my hard drive three times. This is a huge inconvenience, obviously, and each time I had to make the switch I lost all of the files and information that was stored on the hard drive. Then, my keyboard started acting weird. I would press an "F' and it would type a "P" and stuff like that. Dell sent me a new keyboard. It worked for a couple of weeks, then quit. Dell had to actually send a tech to my house to fix that problem. After that, my warranty expired (of course!). I haven't had too many problems since then, although my keyboard still acts very quirky. I can be typing along and the cursor will just jump up into the paragraph above and I will be typing in the wrong place and not even realize it. That sucks!! It is a real hassle. The only other problem is that it runs SOO HOT! I know that is not a Dell problem, all large laptops do it but man! I hate not being able to sit and use my laptop in my lap for very long without having the fan on underneath it too. This monster will have me sweating! The Dell is a very reasonable price and a decent machine, especially for a first laptop. I will definitely go a different direction when I upgrade, however. The HORRIBLE customer service that Dell offers is reason enough alone to find a different brand.

I love my new dell ispirion 1721

As a Dell inspirion laptop user in the past when upgrading I opted to buy yet another.  I bought the 17" inch in the green color and absolutly love it.  I have had the computer now for approximatley one year and to date have no complaints.  When I first got it I had called Dell customer service for technical support and they were extremely helpful and had me up and running in no time.  Although, I am not primarily a fan of Vista I have grown to adapt to it and hope in the future they smooth out some quirks.  All in all an exceptional value which I would highly reccommend to friends and family.  Customer support, software & hardware havn't been surpassed in my book and very user friendly.  If you are undecided on purchasing a Dell over another brand of notebook of any kind I would definately go for it you will not be dissappointed.  I know that I haven't been in the least with any of my purchases.

I love my Dell Inspiron 1721 Laptop Computer!

This Dell Inspiron 1721 laptop computer has all of my computer using needs all in one. I have owned it now for about a year and never have had any problems with it. This particular laptop is a "entertainment" computer, as the 17" monitor is perfect for movie viewing, television viewing (when I use the TV connector components included with the purchase), and music/photo viewing and editing. I have been very satisfied with it's performance and know that I would definately upgrade my Dell laptop to a newer version when the time is right!

I wouldn't purchase it again

I purchased my 1721 back in "06 and during that time, have been pretty much okay but as time has gone on, this cpu has become a real pain in the butt. You cannot fix it either! I have had so many problems with the way the cpu has run that half the time for about 6 months, I couldn't even get on. Now I have all sorts of issues with it. I suppose that it could be the op system as I do have Vista and we all know what kind of op system this has turned out to be. Vista, need I say more? The screen gets looser by the day and I wait for the day when it won't stay open at all. My son thinks that if I installed Windows 7 or XP that it would work much better. Perhaps I should try. I have over all been a satisfied customer with Dell. I don't buy any other brand, I do all my shopping in one spot. I am a Dell person and will remain so untill they won't have me anymore, but next time, I think that I might have to go with a 15 inch and Windows 7.

1721 - good buy for a decent price......

My husband bought me the Dell 1721 as a gift; he consulted with an IT engineer at work to find the best deal for his money, with my needs/wants in mind.  Since receiving it, I have had the best performance, oddles of storage, and no problems!  What more can I say - I just said it all!
