Save your money on Country Save

I really wanted to like this detergent. I found it while researching a clean-rinsing detergent for my baby's cloth diapers. This was one of the more obsure recommendations, but it was so economical compared to the other "specialty" detergents, I decided to give it a try. I was disappointed. It is important to note that I have a front-loading washer, and I used these on fairly new cloth diapers. The front-laoding washers use a minimal amount of water, so the detergent must be clean-rinsing and low sudsing, while being an efficeint cleaner. And the newer cloth diapers had not had time to develop problems, like ammonia smell or buildup. I found that Country Save did okay at washing out the diapers. There were still stains, and I didn't feel it removed all of the odor. And I put the load through at least four rinse cycles after the wash cycle. I also tried the detergent on regular clothes. Again, I noticed residual stains on the clothes, and I thought everything felt a little stiff and looked dingy. I say save your money and buy something else. On the plus side, my daughter has eczema, and this detergent did not aggravate her skin.

I love Country Save for my cloth diapers

When my family decided to use cloth diapers, we also decided to begin using Country Save. It has left diapers smelling fresh and absorbant. The detergent box washes more loads than it says it does on the front of the box, if the directions are followed.

Country Save - Finally, an affordable diaper detergent!

When I began cloth diapering (about a year ago) I realized that just as important as picking out the right kind of cloth diapers, was picking out the right kind of detergent to wash them in. As I did the research I was a little dismayed with how expensive the leading brand of diaper detergent were! A diaper detergent had to be strong, yet gentle. Strong enough to get out, well, you know, but also gentle enough not to create a build up on your diapers or to harm little sensitive bottoms. Country Save Laundry Detergent is both of those, AND you can get it at a great price! I got mine on Amazon.com. It came in a very affordable four pack (and we're talking each one was huge!) and even included free shipping...which I'm guessing was not cheap considering how heavy each pack was! In the year that I've been using the detergent I've gone though 1 1/2 packs. Not too bad. And it works great!!! I won't ever use anything else. Oh yeah, it also works in HE and regular top loader washers!

Great not only for cloth diapers, but for clothes

After doing much research, I decided to use the laundry detergent for not only for our prefold cloth diapers but for all of our clothes.  I've been using this detergent exclusively for 5months and there has been no residue build up on my diapers and I haven't battled with any smells on my diapers either.  I do hang dry my cloth diapers so I can't really comment on the detergent leaving my diapers soft because they are always a little crispy when hanging them in the sun. I also use it for all our clothes and it does a pretty good job.  It leaves our clothes, linens and towels very soft and fluffy which never happened before. However, I have noticed that it doesn't completely remove the smell of our deodorants from the underarms of the shirt.  Not sure why this is, but it is quite annoying.  I am trying to remedy this somehow (maybe I need more detergent).  Some stains don't come out of laundry the first time but after a soak they eventually do.  It does the job and it is a human friendly product which is my number one concern. :)

A great diaper detergent

I first looked into using Country Save laundry detergent when we decided to use cloth diapers for my daughter. I did a lot of research into different detergents that were deemed acceptable by the cloth diapering experts. Country Save was among one of the top recommended detergents because it rinses so clean. Actually it rinses cleaner than any other detergent that I could find. You want a clean rinsing detergent when washing diapers so you don't have build up that causes absorbancy issues and stink issues. So far we have been using Country Save powdered detergent for over a year and have been very happy with it. We have not needed to strip our diapers. We use about half a scoop per load and it works great. I also use it sometimes on our regular clothes and it works just as well. It gets out dirt and leaves clothes smelling like nothing, which is fine with me. Also the box of detergent seems to last forever.

not impressed

I was really hoping that this would be a great earth-friendly, economical alternative to traditional laundry detergents.  We cloth diaper, so I wanted to be able to use a single, affordable detergent on household laundry, cloth diapers, and baby's laundry.  I'd heard many people rave about country clean, but I was entirely disappointed.  My clothes never seemed to get quite clean with this detergent, and it was only a short time before the cloth diapers showed evidence of detergent build up from not getting thoroughly cleaned.  Clothes and diapers didn't smell fresh and clean when coming out of the wash, as I would expect clean laundry to smell.  The overall dinginess was very disappointing.  After just one box of crunchy clean, I switched to another green laundry detergent.  I had to strip the diapers pretty thoroughly, but the fresh laundry smell and sharp colors did come back.  I would certainly not recommend this detergent, especially not for diaper laundry.

Great for cloth diapers!

Because my husband has a lot of allergies, I have used free and clear type detergents since we have been married, but had never heard of Country Save until I began looking into cloth diapering our son. Since Country Save rinses clean and leaves little residue, it is an ideal detergent for cloth diapers. Detergent buildup on diapers can lead to repelling of liquid as well as stinky diapers. Well, I went out and bought a ten pound box of Country Save at my local health foods store. I have never used powdered detergent before but having a top-loading laundry machine, it was really no problem to make the switch. I have been using this detergent exclusively for my son's diapers AND clothing/blankets for the past four months and everything comes out smelling clean but not fragrant. We have had no issues thus far with the cloth diapers repelling or smelling bad, and the amount of Country Save needed per load is so small, we are just finishing our first box after 4.5 months. I highly recommend this detergent for those who have sensitivities to other detergents or for babies' clothing, as babies tend to have more sensitive skin.

Safe and effective for cloth diapers

4

My husband and I decided to use Country Save laundry detergent when our son was born. We use cloth diapers, and knew that regular detergent was not going to work--not even baby detergent. The chemicals and what-not in those detergents (even in those supposedly made for babies) are too harsh and decrease the efficacy in cloth diapers. After doing a TON of research, we decided that Country Save was the best.  Our son is 6-months old and so far, the detergent has been wonderful! His diapers always come out clean--we've never had any diapers come out dirty. Also, the smells come out, too. This detergent doesn't have a scent at all, but that is a plus for dealing with babies.  We sometimes use the detergent for our clothes, too. My husband prefers to have some type of fresh smelling scent for our clothes, but because of Baby, we want our clothes to be safe for him as well.  The *only* downsides to the detergent would be the price and availability. It is a little pricier, but the detergent stretches for awhile. We've been using the detergent for 7 months now and only just opened our 3rd box this week. Not bad, at all. Also, it is hard to find in stores. In fact, I haven't actually found it in any stores in our area. Instead, we order in 4-packs from a popular website. It is delivered to our door, with no problems.  I'd definitely recommend this to anyone with babies, or looking for environmentally healthy products.

I'd say this detergent is just ok.  It's economical if you have a front loader, but can be pricey if you have a regular machine.  It doesn't do much for stains but it is pretty good at removing odors. It is enviornmenttally friendly and good for sensitive skin.  It has to be predissolved in hot water if you are using it for a cold water wash.  I have a very active and messy family.  This didn't cut it for us.

Best at cleaning with NO residue!

Country Save laundry detergent is a WONDERFUL product. Not only does it do a great job at cleaning but it's SAFE too! It is a natural cleaner with no harsh chemicals to worry about. Also, in test studies (not done by the manufacturer) it was found to leave LESS residue on clothing than most if not all of the other brands that were compared (there were about 20 brands in the test). It is hypo allergenic, safe for babies, safe for the environment and a wonderful product. I highly recomend it to everyone!
