Good but Not Great

4

I have always used a curling iron even when the flat iron become the new thing. I already have straight hair but it lacks body and volume. The Conair Ultra Slim looked like a experimental flat iron since it's very affordable. I like the curve to the handle, this feature makes it easy to use and feels comfortable the whole time. I figure a slim flat iron would be a better fit for my hair, it's not thick, but it's not thin either. It took me so long to section off each part if my hair and go over it with this Ultra Slim Flat Iron! I used a flat iron spray to help with the hold, and after it was all said and done my hair looked straight but laid flat on my head. I've learned new techniques since purchasing this flat iron and see where this one can help with getting close enough to the roots to add volume. The settings go up to 25, so there's a range of heat to use, it also heats up fast in under a minute. Since it took me so long to go over my entire head of hair I will now use this one as a touch up flat iron or a back up while I travel. The size is perfect for carrying it out with me and it does the job as long as I don't have to go over my entire head of hair.

Straighten my hair already!

I have naturally curly hair and straighten it most days, I have since middle school and I'm now in Graduate School. I've tried so many different flat irons, it's a little ridiculous. The Conair Ultra Slim Satin Finish 3/4" Ceramic Flat Iron has got to be one of the worst. This flat iron is SUPER cheap. From my experience with flat irons that's usually not a sign of a good quality flat iron. In this case, you get what you pay for. The flat iron heats up really quickly, which impressed me. Then I was instantly unimpressed once I started using it. The Conair Ultra Slim Satin Finish 3/4" Ceramic Flat Iron does not seem to want to straighten your hair. I would literally have to go over and over and over my TINY sections of my hair to finally get them straight. It just runs right over your hair like it's not even turned on. I'm not sure how hot the flat iron gets, but it's definitely not a very high temperature. It takes SO long to get your hair straight with this iron. My hair also didn't stay straight throughout the day. The first sign of humidity it started getting wavy. Save your money. Don't buy this flat iron.

okay flat iron

This was the first flat iron I ever got. Thank God I have upgraded to a better one. I couldn't stand dealing with this one. Then again my hair is super curly. I am mixed (black and white) so I have very thick long curly hair. I'm not sure how this straightener would've worked on a different hair type, but I know that I eventually resorted to just using it to straighten my bangs. Effectiveness It worked OKAY. I usually had to straighten the smallest sections of hair in order to get it straightened properly. I also had to straighten over the same small pieces of hair a few times to get it straight. There are different heat settings. I usually set mine to the highest because that's what my hair needed. Make sure you do clean it from time to time because that will effect the iron's ability to straighten the way it should. Durability This flat iron is cheaply made. SO BE CAREFUL WITH IT. It's cheap plastic outside and easily susceptible to cracking. I'm pretty sure one of the ceramic pieces even started to come off the flat iron. You get what you pay for.

Does not get hot enough.

I got this as a birday present because my other flat iron was getting old.  This one stays in my drawer.  It is no good on my thick hair!  I like the fact that it turns off by itself and has a swivel cord, but those things do no good since I don't use it.

I like my hair to stay attached to my head when straightening.

Conair was always a company I picked first whenever I looked for something new to try with my hair, so I was extremely disappointed when I tried the Ultra Slim Ceramic 1 5/8" Straightener from the very beginning.   It was not all bad, the straightener heated up extremely fast (within a minute), however it never really got hot enough to do the job.  I have to go through one strand of hair multiple times no matter how slow I go or how hard I press.   That is not even the main problem that I have with this straightener.  My main problem with it is when I go to straighten my hair, if I am not extremely careful, my hair gets stuck and pulled out of my head.  There is a section right below the irons that seems like its sole purpose is to pull out your hair.  Even if I am completely certain all of my hair is out of the way of the little nook when I start, it ends up there by the time I get to the end of my hair.

Straightner does not perform well.

The Conair Ceramic Ultra Slim Straightner does not work well at all.  It slides right over the hair and does not give hair smooth silky shine.  The plates are too slick and will not stay on the hair even when pressure is applied.  Pretty pricey and does not deliver good results.

I have very frizzy hair. I have found that the only way to get rid of the frizz is to straighten my hair. I have only tried a couple differant kinds of straightening irons and this iron is my favorite. I always love when I am at the salon and they straighten my hair with their irons. Unfortunately I can not afford a salon quality iron. The ceramic plates glide smoothly down my hair. My hair is thick and in the past it has gotten caught in the iron. I do not have this problem with this iron. I love the 25 differant heat settings also. I put it on 25 when I do my hair and it works perfectly. When I straighter my daughters hair I put it on 10 and it works great. I also like how the outside stays cool. I am very glad I did not spend a fortune on a salon quality iron because this one works just as good. Last but not least I like that it is only 3/4 inches wide, it is the perfect size. If you are looking for a really good straightening iron I would definately recomend this.
