I was recently shopping for clothes for my son when I somehow wandered over to the Clinque counter. They weren't near each other but the magnetic pull was too much for me to resist. I picked up a few Clinique products, among them, **Clinique Sheer Shaper for Lips**. This is a sheer lip pencil that isn't garish or harsh and looks natural. It also holds lip color well within my lip line. **My Experience** There shades to choose from are: *Bare Buff, Black Honey, Blushy, Hint of Pink, Peachy, Plum Naked, and Sheer Rose.* All shades look fairly dark but, on the back of my hand, were very sheer. I was drawn to the Black Honey since I had just bought the lip color of the same name and but I went with Blushy. Blushy is just a bit darker than my actual lips and doesn't give me that weird, scary ring around them like darker lip liners. The liner smoothes on like cream. It is so soft that it doesn't tug or pull at all. Because the color is sheer, there are no bold lines to deal with. I questioned whether such a sheer, soft liner would actually be able to seal in my lip color and define my lips but it did a great job. I lined my lips then applied my lip color. I could no longer see the lip shaper at all yet there was a definite line that my lip color dared not cross. My lips looked a little fuller and more defined. I was happy. The next time I used **Clinique Sheer Shaper for Lips**, I lined my lips then filled them in with the soft pencil. The color was very sheer and just gave them a bit of rosy color. I applied my lip color over the pencil (without primer) and my color lasted quite a bit longer. It also seems to hold on more and to gloss over fine lines and creases. I think, because the shaper is so creamy, it actually primes my lips and fills in the little creases and readies my lips for lip color. This pencil needs to be manually sharpened but that's no big deal. A couple of passes through a makeup pencil sharpener and the tip is sharp and ready to go. I still love reverse lip liners like DuWop Reverse Lipliner but I really think that **Clinique Sheer Shaper for Lips** are superior lip liners that line with subtlety, last for hours, and even prime my lips. **Conclusion** Sheer, creamy, subtle lip liners that don't scream out that you are wearing them. That is what I think of when I think of **Clinique Sheer Shaper for Lips**. 4 stars!
