There are no qords to describe how much I love this! I never use moisturizer because I can Not stand the nasty greasy feeling pretty much every moisturizer leaves behind. This is like putting chapstick on my face...it soothes, it hydrates, my skin soaks it right in. I adore this stuff!

I got a sample of Clinique Moisture Surge Intense Skin Fortifying Hydrator in a gift-with-purchase from Estee Lauder. I'm glad that I didn't pay full price for it, because at best it did a so-so job of hydrating my face. When I try a new skin care product on my face, I put it on only one half, so that way I can compare what it actually does to my skin. Given that the product is supposed to hydrate the skin, I expected my skin to have that plumped, full, dewy look that it has when I get out of a shower. When I first put this hydrator on, I noticed two negative points - first, it had a vaguely medicinal or chemical scent to it, but all of the Clinique skin care products I've tried have this type of odor; it's not bad but it's not pleasant. Second, the texture was very sticky. After 15 minutes, I didn't notice any difference between the skin on either side of my face. The skin under my eyes looked a little bit smoother, maybe 10-20% more full than the other side of my face without any product. The fine lines around my mouth looked no different. After an hour, my face was still sticky and looked no different even when I checked my skin in my 10x magnifying mirror, so I don't recommend this product - too expensive and didn't deliver much moisture.

I love Clinique Moisture Surge! I have normal skin. Typically not too dry or oily. In winter months, my skin tends to get a little more dry than usual. I love that I can use one moisturizer year round. Moisture Surge works for me when my skin is in it's normal state and when it gets a little more dry. I am not a fan of anything that feels greasy on my face, which is a reason that I do not use Clinique's more popular Dramatically Different Moisturizer. I just don't like the feel of lotion on my face. Moisture Surge looks and feels like a gel. It goes on smooth and is quickly absorbed by my skin. It does not leave any filmy or greasy feeling after application. After hearing me go on and on about Moisture Surge for over a year, my husband even tried it one day just to see why I kept talking about it. He probably wouldn't want me to admit it, but he's hooked now too! His skin type is oily, and he can use Moisture Surge with no problems. We both plan to continue to use this product and feel we can notice an improvement in our skin.

I am kind of a cheap person so the only reason I had this product in the first place was because it was part of one of Clinique's gifts. So, about this moisturizer, I have to say I really like it! Starting with pros, it is moisturizing, a gel formula, oil free, non hypoallergenic, and just amazing. Now cons, it has a weird smell, it is in a jar so it is not the most sanitary, and it is a high end product so it is not affordable for many people. This is a really intense moisturizer so a lot of the times, I just use a little bit of this mixed with my favorite summer moisturizer to make the perfect winter moisturizer because it is too thick by itself. I love that it is oil free because I an acne prone and many moisturizers break me out. Gel formulas are my favorite because they always feel so clean, non greasy and refreshing. However, I did say that it had a strange smell and that is what bothers me the most about this product. The smell is very hard to describe, probably a mix between tree bark, paper fresh off the press, and a few other things. It's not overwhelmingly unbearable, but it is so strange that I don't know what to think. Anyway, overall, this is an amazing intense gel moisturizer that is oil free and hypoallergenic with a strange smell that I can't distinguish. If smells don't bother you and you have the money to buy a high end moisturizer, then go for it!
