Citracal calcium supplement with vitamin D is a bit more expensive than other brands at the drugstore, but calcium is one of those supplements that is formulated several different ways. This is calcium citrate, and I take this particular kind of calcium supplement on advice of my doctor. Like all women, I'm at risk for losing bone density and certainly don't get enough milk and other rich calcium sources to make up for the natural loss with aging. Calcium citrate is most easily absorbed, and this brand is absolutely easy on my system and specifically, stomach. I've never had one problem with it. The pills are easy for me to swallow, but I know there is a 'petites' version for those women who have a problem with larger pills. I take one tablet in the morning and one in the evening, with or without food, makes no difference. It is my extra bit of insurance that osteoporosis won't set in. Generics may offer same protection, but this brand is one I completely trust.
