I rolled over my 401(k) from my former employer two years ago to Schwab, and have been thoroughly impressed with their services ever since.  The rollover portion was easy, they walked me through every step, explaining every detail so that I could understand it (as a new investor with no prior investment experience). I have on more than one occasion called them at the oddest hours to ask questions about my portfolio, and they are always there to answer my questions. Twice, when I have sold stock in my portfolio (in order to purchase another stock/fund) I received a prompt phone call from Schwab, letting me know they were there to help in case I needed advice or help in completing the process. Everyone I have spoken with has been extremely helpful, easy to understand and more than willing to help. I also use them for my banking, and private investments and I receive the same great service every time!

As of March 2010 and for the past 6 months plus, Chucky Schwab has been hawking CDs that yeild from 30 to 50% less than at Vanguard.  I have 2 million invested in stocks, bonds and fixed assets and when I question Schwab staff about it they play stupid (or are stupid).   It doesnt take rocket science to check the rates, try it and see.  I am voting with my feet and moving all 8 of my accounts out of Schwab in the next week.   You will find Vanguard staff most intelligent, helpful and knowledgeable, although for the most part so are Schwab's staff, I just dont like to be taken advantage of.

I like Charles Schwab IRA because it offers lots of investment options that other companies might not offer.  I can talk to a real advisor who would provide a lot of recommandations based on my investing strategies; in addition, I can manage my account easily online.

I used to have $ in my 401K through a company that invested the same $ amt that I put in and at the end of 23 yrs of working there, I quit and wanted to move on because I knew everything there was to know in the company in every dept. Including making the product. Schwaab Stamp and Seal Company. I had $70,000 some odd $ when all was said and done. Well my son's father and I had broke up and I was poor so I had to w/d it and use it for moving and to live on for a while til I found a better job. I did. But they had no investment plan yet in their company because they had recently opened in Milwaukee. I worked for that branch here. As an Office Manager which is what I ended up doing at Schwaab in the end too. Oh and when you w/d it early b-4 you retire u get penalized by our wonderful GOV"mnt of 43%. So by then I did not have much. I know stupid move on my part. Maybe I'll win the lottery some day that I never play! HA! HA!

Charles Schwab IRA is great!  The people are wonderful to work with and treat you with respect.  The investment options are also winners.  I've  had many investment options with Charles Schwab in the past.  Some have been stock investments.  Others have been like the IRA.  When dealing with Charles Schwab, I noticed the customer gets the personal touch.  The counselors really care.  Your money is easy to track.  Your investments are easy to track.  It is just not enough to deal with a so so investment firm.  You need to deal with one that considers you and your needs foremost.  This is what you get when  you deal with Charles Schwab. This investment firm has been in business for years which also helps the investor feel better about putting  his/or her money in the company  and dealing with the stocks and bonds that they have or that you pick for your self.  I would recommend this company and its investment options such as this ira and 401k plans to anyone.  .
