Canon PowerShot SX10IS is a great digital camera!

5

I got my camera from my husband for Christmas last year and we took it on our trip to Yellowstone and talk about not only a great camera for pictures, but the zoom was awesome!  We took pictures of Buffalo and they looked like they were right next to us.  I can appreciate a digital camera that has functions, if you read the book, are more than easy to understand.  I am not a reader of books on how to, but this camera was very easy to learn and just messing around with the different things you learn very fast.  This is a great camera although a bit expensive, I'm sure its gone down in price with the new ones that keep coming out.  I highly reccommend this camera for the person that likes to take tons of photos and wants an easy way to print them out as it has a hookup to your computer which is another aspect that I had to learn, but printing your own photos is a real treat.  The other thing I like about digital although it took me a bit to make the switch from a regular camera is the fact you can delete a photo if it turns out bad, so I was sold after that.  Reccommended most definately!  Image Quality I love my camera that my husband bought for me, it takes the very best of pictures as I like to take tons of pics and it has zoom as well. Performance Fantastic, I take it everywhere, but mostly vacations so I can get the best pics. Ease of Use The reason I didn't give this an excellent rating is because I'm not a direction reader and I still need to learn a bit more on the night time pics, but most people will have no problem using this camera its worth the money. Durability Never had a problem Battery Life Only had to change batteries twice and that was on a 10 day trip of taking pics constantly Portability Has a cord to hang on your arm or around your neck no problems here.

Lost without it!!

My favorite thing about this camera is that the view thing in the back can come out and be turned different ways to get different angled photos. Durability I must take too many photos with using the zoom in and out because I had to send it in for a new lense.

Amazing photos

My husband and I were getting ready to leave the country on vacation and we wanted to get a better camera than the one we had.  We wanted something that would take amazing photos and give us a video feature as well, but we are not professional photographers and didn't want to pay the price of a Nikkon.  After reading several reviews and previously owning a Canon (power shot A95 smaller version) we decided to step up to this model.  There are so many amazing features on this camera I'm certain that I haven't even scratched the surface on what it can do.  I love the way that you can take panoramic shots, I love the different settings and I love how amazing my photos look. I love the zoom on this camera! This camera takes some gorgeous photos.  It also takes great quality video.  The only cons is that it is a bit bulky for travel, and the flash seems a bit laggy at times.  I'd prefer something that would slide into my purse a little easier, but I'll take the quality of this camera any day over a teeny little camera.

Best Point & Shoot Digital Camera ever!

5

I've had this camera for a year and a half now and I must say it is awesome. I like to refer to it as my Point and Shoot camera on steriods! The zoom is a.ma.zing! I took a picture of the top of a water tower 5 streets away and could count the number of birds sitting on top. The clarity is spectacular and all the different modes that are available are wonderful. If you ever think you are interested in going the DSLR route without paying the big bucks then I would start here. With this camera you can control the settings just like a DSLR, although not to the same extent. You have a huge zoom range without the added benefit of changing lenses or the extra weight. My only draw back is that it uses AA batteries instead of one of those nice little square battery packs that last forever. But I wouldn't trade my camera for anything!

Great vacation camera.

I specifically bought this camera so I wouldn't have to carry my DSLR on the plane. It's really versatile with all it's shutter speed, ISO, and lens settings. It combines the simplicity of a point and shoot camera with the options of a professional digital SLR. It enabled me to shoot far away distances with no shakiness due to the Image Stabilizer. I really loved the flip out screen similar any camcorder. It's a unique feature that I have not seen on many compact cameras like this. The picture quality was not superb but acceptable. One feature I did wish it had was shooting in HD mode. All in all, it's a great camera, especially if you love to travel.

The Canon XS10IS is a fantastic camera!

5

The Canon XS10IS was my replacement for the Canon Powershot A85.  I love the upgrade.  The XS10IS has a 20X Zoom which works very, very well.  I've gotten some amazing close ups. My sister-in-law bet I couldn't get a shot of a bird, but this camera got a great shot of a tiny bird pretty far away! I also love the swivel LCD screen.  It helps so much when I'm taking photos of myself with the kids or when I'm showing photos to others.  I also love the full manual controls.  I don't use them often because the camera also has amazing presets (aquarium, sunset, action, etc), but if I want to set up the manual controls I can.  I have also used the video capabilities to capture videos of my kids doing cute things.  I really like that I can use AA batteries with my camera.  I use rechargeables and keep an extra set in my camera bag.  It is very economical.  There are only a couple things I don't really enjoy about this camera.  The lense cap is not attached and I've lost it a couple times (to find it later thank goodness!).  The camera is a bit bulky for the average user, I think.  It is more the size of a DSLR, which I don't mind, but people have commented to me that they wouldn't like the size. All in all, this is a fantastic camera!

Well priced, quality camera with GREAT features!

The Canon SX10 IS Digital camera is a quality, higher-end "bridge camera" that falls between your basic point and shoot and the more complex DSLR.  There is an overabundance of features, both programmed and manual, that the user can play around with.  What I like about this camera is that it offers more options, such as super macro, 20x digital zoom, and a variety of scene modes, for those interested in photography. However, those pictures shot indoors or in low-light conditions are often prone to camera shake.  I would recommend this camera to those who want to learn more about photography or practice taking beautiful pictures!

Yep - the husband came through again, and got me this fantastic camera.  It is so easy to use, and the photos always turn out wonderful.  The macro setting makes for so many beautfiul and interested shots.  I can't say enough good things about the Canon Power Shot!

The Canon SX10 IS has lots of good features for all skill levels

I bought this camera for work, but have recommended it to others for personal use.  I have had it for over a year now and have had no problems with it.  I needed something that could handle wide angle and this was the best affordable point and shoot type camera for that.  It takes great quality pictures and is easy to use.  Wether you are a beginner photographer or are more advanced, there are featues for both.  The only downside is that I have yet to get the panorama (stich) mode to work properly.  This may just be user error though.  All in all, it is a great camera and it doesn't break the bank.

Great camera for both amateurs and professionals.

My first impression on the SX10 IS was that it was very professional looking. That was intimidating, but as I played with it, I found that it was actually really easy to use! Normally I go for the cheaper point and shoots, but I couldn't resist getting this. The pictures turned out to be great quality, much better than I expected! This said quality could also make the camera great for professionals, and the easy, straight forward options make it usable for an amateur as well.
