The Canon Powershot S1 IS is a fine camera.  One of the biggest advantages that this camera has over other point and shoot cameras is the ability to use full manual settings.  This camera has some of the most robust manual settings I have seen in a point and shoot.  The Canon Powershot S1 IS only has a 3.2 megapixel camera, however, the pictures are very crisp and clear.  This camera takes better pictures than similar camera with 7 or 8 megapixels.  I would reccomend this camera for anyone that wants a cheaper camera that has full manual features.  This camera is perfect for someone just getting into photography and wants to experiment with real manual settings.  If you just want to point and shoot and have awesome pictures, this is not the camera for you.  This is a good stepping stone to a DSLR.

I bought this camera used and it fit my needs as it has a 10x optical zoom. I do lots of black and white photography and this camera is great for pictures far away and close ups. These cameras can still be used used for a decent price, and worth it if in good shape. It has a fold out LCD viewing screen that was popular when it first came out in the early 2000's. The Canon Powershot S1 was so popular, it was followed up by the Power Shot S2 and S3. I think Canon stop making this line, but it was good for it's time. Canon has excellent picture quality. For anyone interested in a slightly more advanced camera than an entry-level camera, the S1 is a good pick if in good condition. It also takes great color photos and good quality. This camera may not be as good as today's latest zoom models, but will be great for people who like experimenting as the S1 has some manual options, overall a decent camera.

This camera is a waste of money. I do not recommend that you buy this product. This camera is a battery sucker. Dont you dare use a rechargeable batteries in this camera. You will only have enough power for a half hour. If you use a regular battery you will get 2 hours of power tops. This camera is horrible. Sometimes the flash doesn't go off when you really need it to. If you set it to flash every time it will reset after a while. This camera is horrible. The zoom on this camera is not great either. If you zoom it will be blurry for a second then it will be clear. But every second is a second. There is a turn nob on top if you don't set it right you might actually be taking videi and you don't know it. When it runs out of battery the lens might only retract halfway. The it will get stuck until you put more batteries in it. You should not buy this product. It is a waste of money! Do not buy this product!
