Great Machine

5

I've had this machine a little over 2 years now. The price wasn't bad and it's an overall a great machine. When I bought it It had been some years before I had used a sewing machine. However I found this machine pretty easy to use. It came with lots of extras to which was great! The only complain I have is the needle seems to get stuck several times while i'm sewing. I always have to shut the machine off then on and then continue with what i'm working on. Other than that I have no complaints! It's great for all ages, easy to use, easy to store, and great value for the price!

I am very happy with this machine! It comes with alot of extra's so you don't have to try and hunt down stuff when you first get your machine! I did not have the money for the more known quality machines (viking, berinia ect...) so I decided on the Brother XR9000, I upgraded to it from my vintage singer sewing machine that was my grandma's and have been using it every day since I got it! It has so many fun decorative stitches that I have been adding little decorative touches to little items in my house I have tried out the ABC stiches but have not used them for a project yet but I am glad that I have them! Having the ABC's are a plus! If you have never sewed before this is an easy machine to learn with! Super easy to thread and has the needle threader that is very helpful! My mom loves that feature and wishes her machines had it! So I completely recommend this machine to anyone! Can't go wrong for the price!

The Brother XR-9000 is an excellent intermediate machine.

I just bought my 12 year-old daughter the Brother XR-9000 for Christmas. This is her third machine. Her first which was a plastic childs machine. Her second was a Shark Euro-pro. This machine she quickly grew out of. The Brother XR-9000 offers her a wide range of stitches with the ability to change the length and width. It comes with 80 built in stiches, 120 stitch functions and 8 one step button hole options. It states that it is an easy to use computerized machine. I agree with this. The manual is easy to read and easy to follow. Another feature this machine has is it has a flat bed attachment and a wide table attachment. the flat bed attachment has built in storage for the bobbins and the assorted feet. Another feature this machine has is an easy to load bobbin. Just remove the clear plastic door, drop in your loaded bobbin follow the arrows, close up the clear plastic door and your off and running. Another nice feature is the alphabet font. You can embroider letters. The only thing I found negative about this feature is you can't change the font size. It appears you can only embroider 1/4" letters. I might be wrong about this but we have yet to be able to make the letters larger. The sewing area is adequate; you have about a 2" clearance. this is very important because if the clearance is not big enough, trust me, you will sew your finger if you are sewing anything of bulk. I speak from experience. Overall this is a good intermediate machine for the price.

This Brother was a bother!

I bought this machine for my daughter, who was new to sewing.  It was still in the box when my 30 year old Viking went kaput, so I got one for my birthday.  I opened it, read the manual and got started.  The first thing is that I had trouble with the bobbin winding.  hmmm.  I finally got it wound.  I put the flat quilting table on it to test it out.  The quilting table would not stay put.  I put the bobbin in, threaded it after unsuccessfully trying the auto threader and got started.  The straight stitch was okay, but just okay.  It was not perfectly straight.  I tried various stitches, and I liked them, but found them inconsistent in their quality.  After my Viking, which was a more costly machine, this felt like a toy.  I'd read really good reviews about this machine and really liked the idea of the Brother because it came with a case and was a really good price, but sadly, I was disappointed.  I returned my machine and called my daughter and suggested she return hers, because I thought she would be disappointed.  I did more research and bought another machine.

Brother XR-9000

I have had a Brother sewing machine since high school. It's still running great! BUT I wanted to sew more fancy stitches so I purchased this unit and it's got a lot to live up to my old one. However, so far I have been having fun and completed drapes for huge picture window with heming stitch - what a time saver and no puckering due to tension problems. It's quiet, even when I sew long straight seams FAST! It's not too heavy to move around and easy to set up so I can get going sooner. This is a mid priced unit and well worth it - so far I am very happy. If you are like me, and still using one that's over 30 years old, treat yourself to this upgrade. The technology is fantastic.

My mother bought this machine in order to sow a whlo bunch of dresses for my catilion and it workd like a charm. she was able to do a variaty of stuff with it and it was great. The Brother XR-9000 offers her a wide range of stitches with the ability to change the length and width. It comes with 80 built in stiches, 120 stitch functions and 8 one step button hole options. its an easy machine to use and best of all its computerized which lets you do even more stuff with it then usual. The manual is so easy to read and use anyone could be an expert sower in no time at all. Another feature this machine has is it has a flat bed attachment and a wide table attachment. the flat bed attachment has built in storage for the bobbins and the assorted feet. Its in expensive and easy to store since it has a basic shape. Lots of stiching let me do these different types of embroidery. Great for a present.

Brother sewing machine great for beginners

This machine was purchased for craft projects, an occasional quilting project, and some light home decor sewing.  To that end, it has served its purpose and done well.  It is not my favorite machine I've ever used for quilting and wouldn't recommend it for that.  The free motion quilting is very difficult on it, but the only think I have to compare it to is a Bernina.  It sews a straight line and that's usually what is most important.  I'm pleased with the number and type of stitches available, and it comes with a vast array of presser feet and needles, and plenty of bobbins. I like that it came with the extension table for quilting projects.  I love that it is computerized and that the price was relatively low (purchased at Costco).  There is even an alphabet, though a rudimentary one, but it gets the job done when needed.  It is relatively quiet.  The machine came with a DVD to introduce you to the machine and walk you through all the steps.  The user manual is also quite helpful.  Overall, a great machine for light sewing work.  Not the best for free motion quilting.

I love to sew.  I especially love to sew cute little dresses and outfits for my little princess, but my old sewing machine was just not cutting it anymore.  I went to work looking and searching for the best machine for the money and the Bother XR-9000 was the right choice for me.   I didn't have lots of money to spend on a new sewing machine, but I didn't want to buy a poor quality sewing machine either.  After reading several other reviews for this sewing machine I decided to buy it.  I am so glad I did.   It was very easy to set up and use.  I took it out of the box and started sewing right away.  The stitches all seem to be very nice and even, and it sews very smoothly.  The extra decorative stitches are really fun too.  It is nice to add a little extra touch to my projects.   I have not had this machine for long, so I am a bit weary of giving it 5-stars.  That said, I have used my machine TONS over the past few months and it has worked great.  I have already recommend it to other friends.

I'm in LOVE with my sewing machine!!!!

I received this sewing machine as a gift this past Christmas and I love, love, love it!  It is so much fun to use!  My previous machine was seriously lacking on cool features and this machine has been my sewing dream come true.  Now, I'm not a super great seamstress and I would imagine that someone who sews a LOT might want a higher-tech machine.  However, for my purposes (sewing for fun), it is AWESOME!  There are so many features on it that I love:  the automatic needle-threader, the fun stitches, the needle up/down button, the easy bobbin-threader, etc, etc.  It's so easy to use too.  I had no trouble threading the machine and if I ever forget, there are diagrams right on the machine to remind me.  I've been able to have a lot of fun with the decorative stitches quite a bit too.  I love that it tells you exactly which foot you need to use for each stitch instead of having to look it up in a book.  My only wish is that you could change the size of the monograms that it makes.  They seem so little to me and I wish I could make bigger letters.  Everything else is just wonderful and I would recommend this machine a hundred times to anyone looking for a great sewing machine to have fun with!
